The content of the drama is that a loved one is killed and vows revenge on the culprit. The content of the song is a sense of loss for a deceased loved one.

His beloved grandfather had passed away and he wrote this song in grief. Kenshi had an autism and in his childhood, he could not communicate well with his family. His granfather was the only exception.

The music video… it’s a funeral for the female dancer. The background characters are mostly foreigners likely to emphasize how grief is a universal experience. The high heels here are also a symbolism for pain and grief. By the way the dancer’s name is Nao Yoshigai

He’s using the bitterness from lemons to describe the pain and sadness of losing a love one. Which is genius because it’s true when you eat lemons you will get hit with the sourness but after a while the bitter taste is the thing that lingers. And the line “like a piece of sliced fruit” you can imagine getting sliced in half separating from each other describing both the loneliness now that the other half is taken away.

He was once called Hachi in his tennage years, and was popular for producing vocaloid songs. Later he revealed and sang under his own name. My favorite songs are Vivi, Loser, Flamingo, Ghost of the sea, ETA, Kickback, M87, Lady, and Shinigami. It's hard to choose since there's too many master pieces.

Great reaction! You easily noticed things i didn't catch even though i have been hearing this song for a while. I would like to recommend you his album "Diorama" is in my opinion the most experimental he has compossed as Kenshi Yonezu, i think he was way crazier as Hachi but i like the midle point of this album.
