That Cortina 1600E that you weren't sure of until you looked at the back brought back memories. I had one and then sold it to a friend who was kind enough to let myself and the other half use it as our wedding car 41 years ago. Thank you for the vid.

Thanks for taking the time to share. We did a show today in North Bucks supporting a cricket club and got the bonus of a Spitfire flypast. Vickers Supermarine not Triumph :-) The Hillman Avenger was going to save Scottish industry (Bathgate)on taxpayers money. Even by 60s standards they rusted fast. I had one as hire car once. I liked it rear wheel drive light weight and went fine, steering a bit low geared for me. The E on the top spec Fords stood for executive, not einspritzen = fuel injection, on Mercedes like the 190E.

Cheers Rob. I had a lot of these cars back in the early 80's and 90's being a petrol head I got a lot of them out of what used to be called the southern auto trader magazine back in the day. Now I'm 57 and seeing this lot makes me wish I kept them all lol. I loved my Fords the best especially the MK1 and MK2 Capri 3 litre I had 5 of them over the coarse of 10 years.

Hate to burst any-ones bubble but the beautiful grey Ferrari with the tan interior is actually a BMW Z3 with a Tribute automotive kit on it. Maybe a future idea for the channel, there is also a Cobra kit available for the Z3 as well.

Many thanks Rob, What a wonderful selection of cars, many of 1960s era , if only I could see more of them, The car at the end you could not remember was an Austin Healey Frog eyed Sprite, The Hillman was indeed an Avenger GLS, The car, two cars ahead of the HA Viva was a Vauxhall Victor FC of a similar era and in the same row just after, a wonderful Mk1 Ford Capri in all red to mention but a few!

Another great video. Cobblers you can't remember the Hillman Avenger! 😂 The 2 Ac Cobras are definite replicas, because a real one would be in the millions. A lot of Fords, but probably the rarest car there was an orange Alfa Romeo Montreal

Thanks for that Rob. You've obviously had better weather down there than we've got in the Midlands, all dull and overcast. Some cracking cars there, even the ones that are before your time (Mark 1 Cortina in Imperial Maroon just like the 1963 model I had when I first got married, 1965 ish Vauxhall VX 4/90, fair number of the last of the side valve Ford Anglias and Prefects to name but a few). Would love to see others like this, so tell Claire to go away more often

My goodness. There were a lot of cars there I have had over the years. They don’t have car shows like that up here in Scotland. St last none I have noticed. Saw a Volvo 240 GLT. They were quite scarce here I seem to remember when we had ours. I never saw another one on the road at the time anyway. Passed my driving test in a Morris 1000. Was never in it till the day if the test. Used to practice in a Triumph Herald. They could turn like a taxi. Thanks for the memories Rob.

Hey Rob, the little car you didn’t know was an Hillman Avenger loved the show, and the Cortina was a 1600 E top of the range for that model I worked on them when they first came out to the dealership on pre customer checks and service what a lovely car, they also did a E on the Escort and Corsair all loverly motors in my opinion before the plastic took over, there was a Mk1 lotus as well in the distance or at least in its colours
@goonermick77863 жыл бұрын
You know I worked for Ford back then but never had that thought 🤔 you-maybe right it really makes sense, all I know was the build quality of that Mark was fantastic, when I first saw the 1600 E the attention to Quality was apparent straight away the gear box was fantastic, the Xflow engine was amazing the interior was amazing everything about it was too quality in my opinion

MK 1 Lotus Cortina's seemed are rare as Hen's Teeth at those shows now... those were the ones in my youth that folks went mad for but even back, in the early Seventies, there were very few on the road remember my dads friend got an engine out of a scrapped one and dropped it into his Ford Anglia, put the biggest tyres that would fit without rubbing for traction, without modifying the Wheel Arches and beefed up the struts and shocks and the exhaust system, the kicker was that that the car looked almost just a normal stock car, driving down the road, used to take off and spin the wheels as he left our house going down the road, so so much torque...Great Upload...

Gonna have to correct you dude. The Granny was a Cortina Ghia. My mum and dad were Ford Patriots. I was brought up in Ford showrooms in the 70's an 80's. I miss this era so much, mum ravaged her way through 950 Fiestas from no headrests and single wing mirrors to 1100cc headrests and cassette player. Dad went from 2.3L steel wheels no hubcaps to dizzy heights Granadas with more badges on the back as standard than you would ever have thought including factory RS plastic parts. It was a great era. Later BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar usual drill. Those days though Ford were the top. The smell, the comfort, power of the Ghia X was just fantastic. The only car to come close was the bosses 635csi which was a masterpiece at that time. Cardiff Ford were selling limited edition 1100L Fiesta at that time with full XR2 kit and wheels in Mercury and dad said no. He hated mum looking better than him.
