A mainstay of Vancouver's Chinatown is closing Sunday, April 30, 2023. This popular restaurant has been serving huge portions of delicious Chinese food for over 40 years. They have an extensive selection of Chinese food served at value prices for the residents of Chinatown and beyond. I have been eating at this restaurant since the 1990's.
Before the Pandemic, Kent's Kitchen had eat in dining. With any order of food, customers can help themselves to free traditional Chinese soup and Chinese tea. I have even seen people come in for free soup without ordering anything.
This restaurant is known to help Chinese seniors living in Chinatown. They also help impoverished people in the area by providing value for those with limited budgets.
The food is high quality. Most likely their meats and produce are bought from other local merchants in Chinatown. Today I had the sweet and sour pork and the tofu puff stir fry on steamed rice. The sweeet and sour pork is as tasty as any restaurant in the city. They include bellpeppers in the sweet and sour sauce, which a lot of high end Chinese restaurants don't.
The tofu puff stir fry include mushrooms and Chinese mushrooms, which a lot of high end Chinese restaurants don't.
I will surely miss going to Kent's Kitchen after they close on April 30, 2023.
Update, Kent's Kitchen has Reopened as Tatos Kitchen. The food they serve is pretty good. Give them a try!
