I've been watching the Derby for over 50 years and I can't remember a horse going wire to wire for the win. A mile and a quarter against 18 other horses, including the one that beat him by 4 lengths in the Santa Anita Derby, and they couldn't pass him. Medina Spirit showed great stamina and great heart.

After the Santa Anita derby I kept telling my colleagues this horse has more and will be better at Churchill. I had the oaks derby double PLUS a nice win bet on Medina Spirit. Whenever it comes to a derby you have to handicap trainers and their ability to get a horse to run a mile and a quarter PLUS the jockeys. Velazquez is the best I’ve ever seen ride a racehorse. Smart, skill and very very hard to pass.
