Informative video. As a retired police investigator, I have seen first-hand where the little .22 LR has accounted for a lot of homicides. Bigger is better for terminal effect, but the trade-off is always a compromise of size, power an the ability to shoot it well. As demonstrated by Houston, the biggest, baddest gun in the world won't do you any good if you can't hit your target with it. That's why most police agencies have gone back to the 9mm as a service weapon for on and off-duty carry. Keep up the video demos!

22 LR can be quite lethal; though like any round shot placement is important. As a LEO I was surprised to find out there are still quite a few departments that have 22 LRs in the inventory. Regardless of the lethality of 1 round of 22 LR the near zero recoil allows a lot of rounds to be brought onto a target and 22 LR can even defeat an NIJ 101.4 level 3A ballistic vest, though it took a few rounds to get through.
@bower312 жыл бұрын
For what purpose would they maintain that in inventory?
@libertarian16372 жыл бұрын
@@bower31: It’s not about maintaining as much as not getting rid of things. In the government, at least some of them, it can be very hard to get rid of things as you typically have to arrange a public auction and then you’re limited on what you can sell because even law enforcement agencies, in most areas, cannot auction or sell firearms. And not all auctioneers for public unctions hold FFLs so it can just be easier to keep firearms in the inventory then to get rid of them; they also do t have much of a cost to keep, relative to buying new. Which is why there are still Thompson machine guns from the 1930s in some departments inventories. Not on the same side as firearms but this is also why some systems like teletype are still around and why some departments still have systems running Windows XP because they simply haven’t replaced their old breath analyzers and the old once still run on XP. It’s security through antiquity. So simply there isn’t much cost to maintain things other than a cleaning and oil so most departments just keep firearms for a long long time as they don’t go bad, if oiled, so there simply isn’t a need to replace them, at least the older ones. The newer ones tend to get cycled out as they just weren’t/aren’t built the same or as well, though a Glock will probably last as long. You can find some departments that still have inventory with mid-1800s lever actions as I’m addition to not just throwing things away there is also some tradition and history there to preserve so some departments, like the NYPD actually have their own museum. I still have a black,powder colt army that I take out and shoot from time to time and at over 150 years old it’s still going strong. The notion of planned obsolescence and things getting too old to use is rather new so holding on to older things, that still work, isn’t exactly a waste of inventory. Hell the USAF still operates B-52s with some fathers and sons actually having commended the same plane and plans to keep them for decades to come, giving them an operational life of over 100 years.

Great vid and really loved seeing the LCP, 380 is under rated by most "experts". Would really have liked to seen a pocket 38 SPL and 9mm on this though. I feel they are the biggest 3 in terms of pocket carried pistols

Can I interest you at all in one of the thousand videos available of those two calibers versus ballistics gel?

He put extreme penetration ammo in it. Much less impressive with the typical standard pressure HP people are usually carrying.

I had a 20 Gauge 22mag over & under & that 22 mag coming out that long barrel was a monster. Really fast and pin point accurate.

@@Ammosexual69 is that the 30 round 22mag pistol? Family has one and man it's a fun cool gun. 30 rounds and the thing is tiny. Giant fireball, just so much fun.

22 short … there was a bouncer working at Pussers Bar ( Buford Pusser brother John Howard in Malpeton IL ) who was shot five times with a .22 short revolver . He lived but the nerve damage cause by bullet fragments crippled his left arm and right hand .
@frankienv39062 жыл бұрын
people think .22 short and .22lr are a joke, I've seen a .22lr shot out of a colt woodsman pistol and it did a lot more damage than what they showed in this video!

Make sure you buy Underwood Ammo for it. Best self defense ammo you can buy. Extreme Defender or Extreme Penetrator.
