Nice work. Lil tip when drilling into hard steel, try going at a slower speed, it allows the bit to cut before burning. Also I find the Irwin brand steel drill bits cuts better and last longer.

Truck frames are mild steel, and Irwin compared to what other brands?
@lockgessner

I think you would technically be right in calling it mild steel however it’s T1 or a similar grade of heat treated steel between 100-125ksi. A far cry from your average “mild steel”

How lo can you go? What worries me about this modification? All that weight of the motor and everything else, the load weight etc. Goes up front and hits that front suspension everytime you hit the brakes. You remove the leaf springs and just leave 1 or 2 there...is that enough to hold up when you do that?

Great to see younger people doin this kinda fab work! Got a question? Gonna put this same kit on a 379 Pete, i run about 28 miles loaded at 86000 lbs then back empty. Not so much wanting to lower my truck as i am wanting to improve the ride especially empty. I haul 6 loads a day. do you have to back the air off each time when your empty to keep from over airing the front end and will it raise the front if you dont back the air down a few lbs? also how much air pressure do you run when your loaded? Thank You, and again good work!
@markrosser5253
@markrosser5253 3 жыл бұрын
These kits are a air assist kit. They aren’t meant to have leafs removed. The bags are rated at 2500 or so each. They will improve ride quality by absorbing the shock n aww effect. You would have to run it an dial it in to your liking. Most only run between 15-40 psi. My 2 cents
@underpsi5150
@underpsi5150 3 жыл бұрын

1. It’s a universal kit you can run it on anything and anywhere you want 2. You’re wrong about dual bags and dual shocks, just because you saw peterbilt putting them on from factory doesn’t mean it’s the way it’s suppose to be. curious if you actually know why some trucks run dual shocks and it’s not for a smoother ride.

I’ll be redoing the kit with my own set up now that I have the idea of how it all works. I won’t ever run a dual bag set up but it’ll be a different bag. But.
