If I was in this situation, I would definently say that the day was a disaster. First your flight is delayed by 3 hours, then you land in the wrong country and have further delays. Then when you arrive at your destination, you find out you have rented in the dodgiest part of the city. If thats not a travel disaster, I dont know what is. I think you are overthinking the title, or not been on KZbin for a long time. Literally everyone exhagarates in their titles. It attracts clicks, and this clickbait is nowhere near as bad, as some others ive seen. So I would just say, take it with a grain of salt.

About Nairobi, it does have among the highest criminality rates in the world, so cautiousness is well-advised. But like all cities, it varies between neighborhoods and it's really all about common sense. I lived in Nairobi for a year, and never felt unsafe (as a single white female). Bad travelling day, eh? Unfortunate Quick word of advice, if you're ever in Nairobi again, City Centre is a place to avoid unless it is absolutely necessary. It is more convenient if you have business there but it is too busy even on ordinary days when the weather is fine (when it rains, traffic doesn't move). Look for areas just outside of the city centre. That part of the City Centre is where gangs run away to hide after maybe snatching stuff from people. But its generally okay to walk about during the day
@heatherschaper81916 жыл бұрын
If its the most dangerous part of the city it means there has to a safer parts of the city right?, In most major cities all over the world, there are always safer parts and not so safe areas. My question to you is, you had a choice to make as far as where you were going to stay (I guess based on your budget) why did you chose this part of the city?.. then go on to talk about it as if you just landed on the moon....nkt ...mcheew (that's Kenyan expression for,...we know your kind).

People are being really disrespectful to Nick, here in these comments. Not fair! Sometimes people use a words to describe how they feel that their own experience is... like disaster, horrible, terrible, scary, etc. Nick isn't calling Kenya a disaster, as a country or that being around the people is a disaster! Use your brains folks! A trip that took an entire day of travel as opposed to 3 hours... left Nick really exhausted for a travel day to just not go as planned! I'd call it a disastrous travel day too, (if I were in his shoes.) Nick wants to be where he is, so stop telling him that he should just "go home!" Seems like many people who watch Nick's videos are giving his videos a "test," that I believe he is being unfairly graded on...by people who call out every little microscopic detail. Nick loves Africa and loves traveling! He's respectful to everyone who he interacts with! He shows us how beautiful countries are to us...many people who have never been to them! He takes beautiful scenery with his camera and drone, when he is able! Give Nick a break, I mean you don't HAVE to watch his videos, if you don't like them! ~Catherine from NY 🐱💜

Why did the Uber driver wait for 7 hours? Did you book it before your flight in case you don't get internet in Nairobi upon arrival? What an epic day and trip overall. I have a feeling you won't consider mid/eastern African anytime soon!

Kenya sounds like an awesome place to visit. I’ve heard nice things about the people and some of the food they have are must-try’s.

River road became infamous during the 80's and 90's because bank robbers would use its numerous twists and turns to escape. Currently the most dangerous thing about the area is its history so just like any other sketchy part of any city, keep your wits about. thats all

Kenya is a beautiful country,if you did research you would have known that there are excellent places to travel to in Kenya that are affordable. Plus tourists come through and have a great time, so don't discourage people to come through.

You're really amazing. I didn't have time to watch, in fact I didn't want to watch, but I couldn't stop, you made what would have been boring into something really neat. To be able to tell the story when all you have is Idle conversation. Wow that's pretty good. But the truth is, I watch a lot of your videos and I really like your style and honesty. So thanks, and keep up the good work.

You keep us entertained Nick. Do not worry, the world is not as bad as some people make out. But be streetwise and you will be alright. Very impressed by your travels in Ethiopia and now Kenya. Wow! hectic day! Cool video. I'm sure you will end up having a blast in Kenya, I do however think that you made a wise move in listening to the local people, and deciding to explore different areas. Tourists often come to Durban in South Africa, and just don't understand how dangerous some areas can be, however a few kilometers down the road can be really fine. Local knowledge is king in Africa, but don't let it bog you down, because I'm sure Kenya has a lot to offer! Enjoy!

Honestly why you even here just go back to Ethiopia or go to the next country. Every country has its challenges you don't have to over exaggerate everything just for clicks .Chicago has literally one of the highest crime rates but ofcourse you wouldn't make a video basically pulling it down but since its Africa you have the audacity to just for clicks. This is literally the first video of someone talking bad of Nairobi without even experiencing it. And next time don't disrespect our flag like that smh. Fyi Clickbaits no longer work in 2018 .

Edwin Fanice - You people are so sensitive. If you’re going to give a review of any city in the world, it should show the good, the bad and the ugly, not just some romanticized image that you want to present to the world.

We hear a lot of dangerous places all around the world.. like when Im going to Nairobi I'll be like hugging my bags so tightly and my phone n ksh would probably be like tucked in the deepest part of my pockets..Anyway you just have to be careful be cool(like a local) and pray for safety. No place is safe in this world anyway.

first welcome to kenya, yes security is an issue especially in eastlands. don't go flashing cash especially forex ((* 200 USD is one months teachers / secretary's salary.*)) if you are gonna be around for a number of days, get the local currency (kenya shilling ) in small denominations for 70% of the cash get 100 and 200 ksh notes and the 30% in 500 ksh notes. the exchange rate is approx 1 USD = 100 ksh ) if you don't have a local guide avoid public transport mini-buses called ( matatu ) take uber instead. they are relatively cheap and will save you a major security headache. A fairly safe neighbourhood to stay would be westlands or kilimani / milimani or yaya. but if you are into the night scene and clubbing you have to be vigilant . dont over indulge in alcohol dont leave drinks unattended even for 2 seconds. ohhhh and always use a rubber !. towns outside the capital city tend to be way safer- but thats no excuse to let your guard down. ps remember have local currency and bargain.

Here's a sugestion for you: Senegal. I was there last January. Stayed for a week in Saint Louis, a very cool city (google it). Senegal is a safe place, people there are very nice (though most don't speak English) and the Internet there is pretty good. You can get a sim card at the airport (which is about 45 minutes away from the capital Dakar). Anyways, I'm not a vlogger so my videos suck but it'd be nice to see watch your adventures there. Cheers and stay safe there!
