The Kenyan government reduced the salaries of medical interns and doctors by nearly two thirds yet we have Members of Parliament, MCAs and CSs earning hefty salaries and allowances while being incompetent and corrupt to the core! Even after the recent protests, Ruto has only slashed the budget to all the important sectors like health, infrastructure and energy but the hefty salaries of Ruto and his cronies still remain intact! It’s obvious that this government ain’t interested in developing this country and is only here to loot and steal hard earned taxpayers money! 😢

In South Africa we've got 800 jobless Doctors due to that the department of health says that it's got no funding to absorb them into Job market but the dandaheads in Parliament are paid hefty salaries for doing nothing they even increased the cabinet now . Why are African leaders this stupid and greedy? I mean there's no society that can survive without medical practitioners but we can survive without them big bellies in Parliament

Does that mean young people are unimpressed despite Ruto's recent undertakings to put his government in order?

@@DWThe77Percent Ruto isn't fooling anyone, he nominated some of the people he fired days before. He doesn't follow the Kenyan constitution or court rulings if they don't further his interests. Ruto is a joker and yes not impressed at all.

How much are medics paid compared to the ordinary Kenyan?, The comparison to an MP is not sensible, Education or not legislators serve for a very short stint & waay more responsibilitu including on medical issues. On corruption both medics & MP's are guilty only that MP's are more successful at it.

Migrate the the UK to work in the NHS but they pay doctors peanuts in the UK. Barely 40% above minimum wage for extremely long hours. It’s not that much better here in the UK. Edit: To put it into perspective, a certified forklift driver gets paid as much as a doctor who trained for 6 years for his certifications. May as well travel to America, Australia, Germany, Canada or some other developed countries instead.

While I do sympathise with Kenyan doctors and medical practitioners, particularly on their working conditions, it’s important to note that, Kenya is not the UK or Canada. I also recognise that our political elites and national bureaucrats have taken us for a ride for far too long and pillaged all the wealth that should be going to us, our country is still a poor country, even without corruption. We are all still suffering. I’m a young Architect, I too have sacrificed for far too long and barely got much compensation from it. Just enough to get by. And even with that I still consider myself lucky as there’s countless of jobless or struggling youths on Kenyan streets. However, as much as we can blame others, we need to also recognise that as it currently stands, we can’t get much out of the country, even with better systems, it will all take time.

@@DWThe77Percent Very different economies. Different levels of productivity, different levels of GDP etc. Doctors are still amongst the highest earning formal employees in Kenya. Expecting salaries that match the UK or Canada is in my own opinion delusional
