Glorification of the #OverseerCulture:
During its formation, the British government encouraged Kenyan farmers to employ local African workers at a lower cost instead of doing the work themselves. However, many Africans interpreted this message as indicating that pursuing an education and becoming an overseer was the key to success. Consequently, a significant number of people focused solely on education without acquiring practical skills, which were looked down upon by grammar schools and universities. This culture created a lack of hands-on knowledge and skills, which could have been valuable in the long term. The problem of the Overseer #culture persists in Kenya and Africa, where there is a need to shift from an overseer culture to a doer culture, as too many people aspire to be chiefs and are unwilling to work hard enough. People want clean bathrooms but do not want to clean them and, even worse, despise those who do! They want well-prepared food served in an ambiance but do not want to grow, prepare, and serve the food, and even worse, despise those who do! Just like the colonial masters did. To feed itself, #kenya and #africa must overcome this culture.
