@jaredevans57122 ай бұрын
I just look at how physical today’s 9s are and have the opposition guessing at the ruck as well as speed of ball. He looks like a scared kitten near contact and is far from the physicality expected of a springbok. If we refer to some of the great 9s SA has produced as a standard, Joost, fourie, faff etc that’s the norm. Grant is all of the above 👆🏻

@keo, why is there no SA-A team going on tour for 2 or 3 games? Thus is where some of the extended squad or fringe players can test combinations and get serious game time. The AB's and Aussies both sent A teams on the Northern tour.
@Kid_Senekal2 ай бұрын
my understanding is that the mandated rest periods for players was a factor- especially with the URC restarting next weekend. Super Rugby only starts mid-Feb so potentially easier for NZ & AUS so do that. I also would've loved to see an SA-"A" team going to France and Ireland.
@notenoughstones38732 ай бұрын
Honestly no experience will compare to test rugby. A-team games are nowhere near the level of test matches so not a great indicator of how good a player is. Also with Rassie playing over 50 players, he has probably given more meaningful game time to more players than NZ or Aus with their A teams.

Disagree with you on how good Jaden is. He is way too slow at the ruck. All the really good scrum-halves are a second or more quicker. I hope he plays well of course. Jordan is not a 10, rather keep him at 15. He is also too slow in decision making to be pivot
@evanh87492 ай бұрын
Agree. At the moment I think Reinach is the strongest all-rounder. And Grant is the best/fastest on attack, some weakness getting turned over as he out runs his support. But understand what they are saying with Jaden... When on form he shows old school Bok style, with low error rate steady delivery relying more on the Flyhalf and fullback to act as play maker. Though he had a shocker on tour, think they see him as a knockout rugby scrum half. Needs to prove it still. Think Grant Williams is too good off the bench, so although he deserves more starts think he's proven too valuable as back up utility. Agree. Jordan will not be the 1st or 2nd choice flyhalf, unless it's against a super physical islander team where he's got the better physicality. Even at 15 he won't be ahead of Willemse, Fassi and other's at club level. His value long term will be utility coverage on the bench, and late game kicking. If he can drop goal from distance too, his value goes up. If he could jump into a forward role as well (a reverse Kwagga) given he's got the more physical frame then he will become an irreplaceable player on the bench. ... A lot needs to happen there, but I'm excited at the potential he could over various strategies.
@justina70412 ай бұрын
@evanh8749 I like how you think. People think I'm attacking the Hendrkse brothers and get so defensive, but I'm just pointing out what I've seen with how they play and what could be worked on. I agree with how Jordan could be used. Even at the Lions he was more of a utility player.

@@mikezog1030 I'm most excited to see him play. I think he has a real future with the Boks. But I see him being behind Pollard, Libbock and Sacha as a starting 10 (at least for now). But he would be in front of Libbock as a utility player. And he has the potential to really grow. While I see Sacha as a better future replacement for Libbock, I think Jordan is the closest replacement for Pollard down the line, with greater physicality in defence. And he's growing in confidence playing for the Sharks.
