Natural hair is great and all but the maintenance is not easy, so 6 months ago, I decided to get a Keratin treatment to help tame my curls. This is my second time applying keratin treatment on my hair and even though it's too soon to tell the long-term effects to my hair, I am beyond happy to have softer, easier to manage curls.

I normally dont like to comment on pn videos, but I was so disappointed seeing the only comment be a negative one by someone who talks about natural hair for a platform. I have almost 15 years if not more experience and time w all textures and let me tell you, my natural girls change their minds all the time. Never once do i make them feel bad about it or use God or anything else in that manner to shame them in taking a different route on their journey. When i have a client that decides its time to change it up and maybe use chemicals to manage their hair and hairstyles i support them in referencing products they can use at home to support their hair after such a process and service. You are very brave and i sympathize with you on why you decided to take this route. I have had clients who have complained about the tenderness alone when styling their 4c hair and no matter the product nothing made it less painful until they were able to soften their curl pattern. Managing 4c hair in our modern day can be challenging but as long as you are finding a way to enjoy your hair, keep it healthy and it fits within your lifestyle, go for it! I would recommend a good trim and treatment depending on the porosity of where your hair is now. a mositurizing or protein base or both. Keratins i wouldnt say are better than a relaxer, maybe in application but both are harsh on our texture and can damage or cause stress to the hair down the road. So taking the necessary steps to prevent that should be your next steps. Redken( acidic bonding line) and mizani ( id check out their line for relaxed or chemical treated hair)both have great products for chemically treated hair, Which will assist you in preventing thinning or breakage. The densitiy of your hair is thick but you have fine strands which makes it very susceptible to damage from heat or chemicals vs other textures. I was happy to hear after your service you were experiencing a better time with your hair and you can see how much you enjoy your styles now! Beautiful ❤

Thank you for your thoughtful, kind, and considerate words. I didn’t realise how damaged my ends were until I was editing the video; otherwise, I would have insisted on cutting at least half the length. I just loved how my hair looked with the curls. The keratin treatment is the only thing that has made my hair more manageable, my scalp less tender and even made me enjoy wash days so I am incredibly grateful for your professional advice. Instead of the cut or chop I was considering, I will start with a trim, use Mizani products for maintenance, and take it from there. I look forward to seeing where my hair journey takes me. Thank you! ❤

@tejumade2930 you are very welcome! I can see a nice bob on you, chin length would complement your face! So happy to know you are aware and open to doing the necessary things to keep your hair healthy through it's new change. I love the mizani mositurizing deep conditioner, it's in a tub container. So good! They have a great heat protectant as well if you find yourself using the flat iron at home. I would do a trim every 6-8 weeks until you notice a different in your ends not being thin. It will make your wash days even more enjoyable. Again, so happy you have had an improvement with your hair experience. I look forward to the updates! ✨️

I have high density super fine 4c hair and getting a keratin was a GREAT decision!!!! This treatment alone is like unlocking a secret to moisture and length retention for the fine hair girlies! Will be getting my second one next month! Thanks for sharing!

That’s great! I personally love that it makes my hair softer and easier to manage. When was your first treatment? How often do you get it done?

Thanks for leaving a comment. My new stylist has recommended this and in fact I’m a bit hesitant. So glad to see you liking it

I will. I love that it’s made my hair softer and more manageable but it’s also damaged my hair which is thinner and brittle especially when straight.

Thanks for watching! It wasn’t an easy decision to make. I never wanted chemicals on my hair, which is why I went natural several years ago. However, when it hurts to comb your hair, and you're constantly in pain, having to take painkillers each time you do a protective style, I had to find an alternative solution. Natural hair isn’t for everybody. 🤷🏾‍♀️

@@tejumade2930 recognize that you were also in discomfort getting this treatment done as well... I personally think that we choose what we are willing to deal with and tolerate. My channel is focused on helping women like you learn how to better navigate your hair so that it didn't have to be painful or difficult. But know that you're natural hair journey is only as difficult as you make it. We are all in a different place when it comes to embracing and accepting our natural hair, but I don't believe that the way God chose for you to be is "not for you". Styling is a preference, your natural features are not. Best of luck to you on your hair journey. Just know that all that heat that's being put on your hair is going to catch up with you... It already has by the look of your ends. I'm saying that in love and with concern, not to chastise or demean you. I want you to be able to enjoy your hair in whatever state it's in but not when it's damaged and unhealthy. 🙏🌹❤️

I’m debating getting a keratin treatment. Can you still wear and goes if you don’t feel like flat ironing your hair?

Hi! Looks like some parts of your message might be missing so I’m not sure what you’re asking. Please clarify.

I think they made a typo and meant to ask if you can still wear Wash and Goes instead of flat ironing.
