@@karmiek777 Thank you for sharing! I agree, I don't think hyperinsulemia is the only cause. I read it was caused by an omega 3 deficiency. My son had it and in less than a week it was gone after I fed him salmon only twice. It seems there is more than one cause.

I´m 55 and I was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2020. I´d suffered from KP since I recall, but I started ketogenic diet 5 years ago (without knowing my oncologic condition). 2 years after we started the Ketogenic diet, my wife noticed my KP is completely gone; but the most outstanding moment was when the oncologist told me after the surgery and the analysis of the tumor, that I don´t need chemotherapy, nor other treatments. Today I practice carnivore diet, 99% free of plants except olives (to hard for me to quit them) and free of any medication. Feel like I´m in my 20´s. The message: listen when Dr. Berry tells "whatch out , Is not the Keratosis Pilaris the problem, but the hyperinsulinemia" Obviously the KP is a neon sign telling you "Hyperinsulinemia" as a tatoo on your skin

Carnivore has cured my KP. I had the most severe case my dermatologist had ever seen. It was bad - all over my body. I tried expensive and painful peels, lasers, creams, scrubs, and diets. Nothing helped. I haven’t worn t-shirts and shorts in nearly 2 decades because I was so self-conscious. I’ve always hated the summer for that reason. For the first time in my adult life, I’m actually going to wear summer clothes next year. My skin is so soft and flawless. It’s quite remarkable.

I was strict low carb for several years and pretty consistent about it. This skin condition mostly vanished for me and my acne also cleared up. Recently, I've been a bit off the wagon and eating more carbs and sugar than I should. I've started to notice some of the "chicken skin" again and a bit of acne on my cheeks. At least it's helping motivate me to get back on the keto wagon.

I'm the same way. I was doing so good with IF and keto but I feel off and rolled down a big hill from my wagon lol😂. I don't get it myself, why is it so hard to get started and stick with it again? The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. John 1:1,14 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us, 1 John 3:8 KJV He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT. John 3:18 KJV He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

In the beginning, I too, was skeptical as I listened to the many KZbin doctors. What convinced me were the hundreds (now thousands) of comments below each of Dr. Berry's videos. You could ask your son if he thinks all those comments are fake? Does he think all those comments are made by people lying to themselves? Many report that after taking multiple medications for years, that they've been able to reduce the dosage or even eliminate the meds altogether. That's got to be convincing evidence that some diets are much healthier than other diets.

The first food recommended for my kids after breastfeeding & formula was rice cereal , then on to bread , pasta and grain . In hindsight I wonder if this is why my kids grew up sick , depressed & on medication. Had I started them out properly would they have thrived ? I with all of this information available I wonder 💭

My son had this at one point in his childhood . As he’s grown up & started eating a meat based diet , it’s just about gone . It’s still on his face & I believe that when he totally stops eating sugar and junk it will go away . He’s come a long way with his diet & I’ve seen a huge change in his depression since he stopped drinking Gatorade & consumption of all of the dye they put in the junk food . Excellent video as always Dr Berry !

Keratosis Pilaris is a deficiency in vitamin B3 (Niacin...FLUSH FREE). The reason why it works with Keto is because B3 is high in meats. I do agree changing your diet to a clean Low Carb/Keto diet will work. But, it's Not the main issue, especially since almost all of our food has been manipulated and is depleted of the nutrients (unless you eat Organic)... Adding a supplement of B3 (aka Niacin) to your everyday vitamins will REMOVE your Keratosis Pilaris completely... You have to be patient as it will take some time to fill your body of missing nutrients that have been missing all of your life! That is how I removed mine...It works! *Note: Niacin, when taken gives the body a feeling of a flushing, which causes your body to turn red and raises your heart rate..When I first took it, I thought I was having a heart attack, after 20-30 minutes it goes away...It's a NORMAL side effect). Please do your research and look at All of the symptoms that you will get as a result of taking Niacin. That way you know what to expect and won't end up calling 911 like I did 😔 There is also a Niacin Flush Free version... It's the one I take, just because I don't like the heart attack feeling 🤣 B3 is studied and found to help depression... I hope this helps.

Had no idea that hyperinsulinemia had caused it bur did notice that the bumps had mostly deminished, more than 90%. I also noticed my skin tags have reduced in size and practically gone. I had this as a child, certainly from about age 8. It was on the fronts & backs of my thighs, backs of calves, butt cheeks, backs of upper arms & really red & bumpy. Yet never on any other skin areas. Nobody knew what it was in the 80s & I would be so embarrassed if anyone saw or asked. Age 20 I went into ketoacidosis (a dangerous condition when you don't have enough insulin) & was subsequently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes & started insulin. As my blood sugars improved, the keratosis pilaris on my arms & legs etc. did too. If my blood sugar control worsens it reappears, but not as bad as when I was a child. From my own experience I would assume I never produced enough insulin & so often had elevated blood sugars as a child & that is what had an effect on the keratosis pilaris. So reducing carbs & lowering blood sugars should help. Softening body butters, coconut oil, that sort of thing, do wonders for it too. And I like to think a bit of sunshine so perhaps some Vit D. Great video 👍🏻 & great to see this talked about!

I can remember scratching and picking the white heads,( as my mum called them,) off my skin since I was about 7 years old . When I was a teenager I kept them at bay by using a pumice stone on the tops of my arms and often used to make them bleed, by underestimating the harshness off my scrubbing . How I wish this was common knowledge years ago as to what the root cause actually is with this problem. Thankfully I have been aware of the tendency of my family to develop late onset type 2 diabetes for a long time now, and have taken some steps to delay it from happening to me, or even better still it would be obviously, if I managed to avoid getting it ever . I'm hoping to go on a keto diet to reduce those carbs down even further than I have been doing, and to lose the last of my weight for good. . I am so glad that I came across the concept of intermittent fasting from you and other similar doctors all in favour of this change of lifestyle that is needed for so many of us.

I developed KP in the last couple of years that my A1c crept up. I tried exfoliation and moisturizing to no avail, of course. Once I addressed my diet and cured my diabetes, only then did the exfoliation and moisturizing work. Chicken skin gone. I will say that diabetes cured alone did not affect it, the plugs were still there and associated itchiness and rough skin remained. I restarted the attempts to exfoliate the plugs and insert good moisture-gold bond followed by aquaphor to seal it in for a deep penetration. Worked like a charm.

I skimmed through the research papers he linked, but none of them directly backed his theory that cutting carbs/sugars/refined sugars will reverse keratosis pilaris. I've also cut sugar before for a year as a personal challenge, but yet my keratosis pilaris is still there. I have none of the underlying conditions he talks about here. Anybody watching this take it with a grain of salt and talk to your doctor before you try any drastic changes to you diet.

This is quite eye opening. I have KP (started 2 years ago, I'm in my 40s and never had it before!) and psoriasis (since childhood, well under control, suddenly 2 years ago it got much worse). I also independently suspected PCOS with high blood sugar/insulin resistance which was confirmed recently. But none of the doctors involved (GP, dermatologist, gynecologist) was interested in or wanted to give me any information about the possibility of those symptoms being connected. I'm so disappointed in my doctors. They say "don't ask dr. Google" but if you don't do your research a lot of knowledge will be withheld from you let alone therapy options.

The "medical" system is brainwashed Sadly 😔 Keratosis Pilaris is a deficiency in vitamin B3 (Niacin...FLUSH FREE). It's the one I take, just because I don't like the heart attack feeling 🤣

You make a very interesting point, I have had this condition my whole life and it has gotten better and worse as I have experimented with different diets over the years, anecdotally many claim gluten free dairy free is the way, others low carb etc. I have experimented with gluten free dairy free but when I have those “gluten free” treats like cookies and such I notice its redder and more apparent, so when you mention various processed grains, starches and sugars beyond just wheat etc, that resonates with me, I will have to go all natural and off the treats for a while for best results, but I prefer a natural balanced diet with some veggies, meat and a bit of fruit rather than hardcore low carb, because I don’t think high fat high protein is healthy long term, and it makes you more insulin resistant as you can’t metabolize the carbs as easily.

It’s also caused by untreated Coeliac Disease but Doctors ignore that 🤷🏼‍♀️ particularly in UK 🇬🇧 where doctors don’t take Coeliac Disease seriously as they should and get you diagnosed, so large numbers of people with Undiagnosed Coeliac Disease are suffering the affects of Coeliac Disease on their bodies (gluten is found in Wheat, Barley and Rye! Also such as Oats if farmed together with wheat, barley or rye). The only treatment is to not eat Gluten at all ever. My chicken skin improved once I was completely gluten free.

Mine was caused by grains/wheat that gave me diarhea. Quit grains/wheat and it went away. Caused by food intolerances which causes a vitamin A deficiency. Well yes wheat causes insulin to go up but I didn’t eat a lot of grains nor did I eat a lot of sugar or refined food. It still caused a vitamin A and zinc issue whereas eating some plain chocolate/sugar does not do the same thing. It’s a wheat intolerance issue unless you eat a tonne of junk food. WOW!! I have been dealing with KP since my teens and I used to be in KP forums, researching the heck out of what to do about it and what the root cause is. I never heard about this before! I have tried all kinds of diets, including low carb, but it has never gotten any better. So I had just given up on finding something that would work. Since I already tried low carb/keto and even carnivore I thought that it didn't work aswell but I probably would have to do it for a longer time. I struggle as heck with fat adaptation though, I get really bad symptoms like insane intracranial pressure, racing heart and chest pain plus severe insomnia so it hasn't been easy to stick to it. I have a serious oxalate problem though so that's probably one of the reasons that I struggle. But this video was really encouraging to see! I am on an animal based diet with about 100 g of carbs still (some honey and fruits bcs of my previously mentioned issues) and I realize that I have seen about 50 percent improvement in my KP so that's a good start!🌞 I will continue to try to get my carbs even lower and it will be interesting to see what will happen over time.😄

How does this apply to babies and toddlers who have this? We can’t have them on a very low carb diet, and I don’t think blood sugar is an issue with babies who have this

This makes sense. Just yesterday i ate quite a lot of carbs and by evening i had quite bad chicken skin on the back of my triceps. But i did not eat anything for 14 hours and the skin was at least 80% better in the morning than the last evening.

Had it for years and my Dr said the same. GPs in the UK are not as stupid as they come across, they just won't tell the patients the truth! 😳 I took charge 25 years ago, and gave them back all their medications! Learn from the best, then You don't have to listen to them. Thumbs up to Dr Ken, this is a real Dr! One that never stops learning! Human dietary advice! 😉

My baby daughter had this. The "pediatrician" said it's genetic, not to even bother with moisturizer. But these "doctors" have proven their worthlessness time and time again, so I'm not all that shocked by this video.

@5:53 How much is 'one tenth of a point'? I've never heard of this 'point' metric before.

I have had this since I was a kid. There's definitely a genetic link. It seems all the first kids born in the family have this. My cousin who was first born has it my daughter has it but my younger son doesn't. It's very odd how it has happened this way in my family. I have started cutting carbs overs the past couple of years and it has gotten better from when I was a kid. Thanks for the info.

I've had these on my arms and legs since a child, I'm 32 years old now and I've just found this video. My diet has always been terrible.
