Hundreds of Kerbals flock to the burning hot coal that is Moho, enduring the intense solar radiation in dense protective spacesuits for the exhilarating sport that is Mohole golf. When the signal is received from the sighters at the hole, a Kerbal marches out of the observation bunker, carrying a small solid rocket, and a launching rod held by their waist. They crouch down onto the ground, find a suitable position and carefully set down the rocket. They draw out and arm the launching rod, and steady it down over the end of the rocket. With tiny silent spark, the fuse ignites and the Kerbal lifts the rod away. A moment later, the rocket shoots off silently, and is only visible for another moment before the engine cuts out. The Kerbal steadily steps back into the bunker and awaits his result.

I support the idea of requiring the kerbals to move around and have special "living" modules so that they can remain in space longer. maybe something like a global "decay-able resource" factor to kerbals that decays, unless they have a "living" module that would provide "sporting activities" and leisure. Once decayed your kerbals cant do EVAs cuz they're not stupid and courageous enough. It would finally give a meaning to the Stupidity & Courage stats that the Kerbals have :))) I was just thinking the other day about that to be honest! about how weird it is that my kerbals were in space almost a year in my space station and when they arrived back one got out on a EVA to get some science and walked without problems and i said to myself "hmm... technically he should not be able to walk now for like a few days maybe?!" So adding the possibility for kerbals without these modules to do EVAs and have their "endurance" decay is awesome :) It's a great idea and i think it's easy to implement and adds a GREAT realism effect :))) it's just mathematical stats that you dont really need to do much work for. Only for the few modules you'll need design and so on!!! Nice one Scott!

Hello Scott, I started watching you quite a long time ago now, i started watching your videos just for inspirations to improve on my technique of shipmaking or even refine some designs and learn alternate methods for doing some things. I realised mostly i cant do that at all because you use a buttload of mods and i want to do everything stock and legit. I watched some of your videos anyways and, though your commentary is post instead of during gameplay, i found i really enjoy your commentary. The more you talk and digress and explain stuff, a lot of which interested me and still does. I have a horrific memory due to stresses I've endured but i do like to learn about thrust to weight and delta v and orbital mechanics and your video on the way colliders work lol. Anyways this rambled on longer than i meant to but i wanted to say im a fan and to keep on babbleteachin stuff with heavy digression :) stay smart.

Scott your next series should be about the colonization of planets, because you've explored these foreign worlds and now you must claim them as your own. But you should also build orbital stations which are made up of asteroids you finds in space, like those mining stations in eve-online.

I thought there was a transfer to mars available at some points that cut the time down to 6 months? Also I noticed a mod on kerbalstuff which adds fitness to kerbals based on there room to exercise etc, that might be what you want!

Oh you can go to mars in months, but then you need to wait 2 years for the planets to line up so you can go home.
@victorgigante53748 жыл бұрын
+Nathan Williams There's currently an engine in the pipeline that has the potential to cut the transit to just over one month. Look up VASIMR - one of the claims is "Mars in 39 days," but it'd have to be powered by a fission reactor.

I was wondering if Snacks would fit the bill, you get a set number of snacks per crew spot and each verbal consumes 1/2 snack per day. If you run out of snacks you take a rep hit and kerb performance goes down (according to the entry, I've never used it long term). That would mean you have to be dramatically under crew capacity for long missions. just an idea

I'd like to see something other than the spam-can and a lab for kerbonauts. The Mohole looks really neat! Nice job with the first probe in proto-Moho-golf. I wonder if anyone's going to get annoyed at "happy Christmas" instead of "merry Christmas". In some places, at least, the latter is traditional and whatnot, and silly as it is some people get kinda touchy about Christmas traditions.

Most viewers may not appreciate that by "size of the ISS" you don't mean necessarily such an albatross-like awkward kind of massiveness, but rather the actual mass (and inevitable volume) that could be much less impractical for travel than the ISS is. At around 7:40 you said that we would need "something the size of the ISS to go to Mars and back". Isn't most of the ISS simply for doing scientific experiments and not just a huge living module? The Soviet Union (back in 1971) launched the Salyut stations, which were used for training Cosmonauts to be in space for long periods of time, and later launched Mir, but both were less than half the size of the ISS. couldn't we send something of similar size to them instead?
