+Francis Porretto Indeed...one bad or even ordinary move by Keres and he would be in trouble. Keres played the gambit, forced the game into exotic territory, then Keres with his masterful problem solving skills, wins.

I remember as a boy studying situations from Alekhine games where he made the most brilliant and amazing knight moves, got any of those.

by playing suboptimal moves he was basically playing the player not the game (vs weaker player)

+Brecht t If you like 'sub-optimal' moves, look at Emanuel Lasker's games, he often rejected what was considered the most popular lines, and got very good results regularly.

+Uroš Marinković i found that the kerees serie is in top 3 of the most entertaining series, easy !!!, i don't get the polemic around the topic. maybe it is an amateur's request but for my part i would like to see more games with keres palying blacks :/ !!

MatoJelic Paul Keres is my new favourite player now. Very instructive very precise, and no particular style Keres was just really good. I think he's the best player to study
