The Diplomat is great, but there's too many plot twists, You end up like kerry saying "wait, I thought HE was the bad guy?" a lot. Also, I think the whole script was written before Russia invaded Ukraine. In the show Russia is this big scary threat, when in fact it is an evil dictator and his clown car full of dummies.... It would be hilarious if they weren't actually killing people. Slava Ukraini.

I'd say it's carrying the 'women can't reaaaally handle int'l diplomacy' banner, but then you have two of them who are conniving and very realpolitik in their approach in a way that sends the big boys down all sorts of cul de sacs.

You're alluding to what makes everything so freakin' TOXIC in American politics: our de facto two-party system. You wouldn't have to cringe at people worshipping Clinton because you'd likely be in a different party if we had more than two parties. Having JUST TWO parties INVITES black-and-white, right-vs-wrong, truth-vs-lie, or good-vs-bad framing. So, what happened this election? People saw that they still had to pay too much for gas/groceries, so they voted for the party that WASN'T the INCUMBENT. The entire situation is definitely more nuanced, but definitely not more difficult to understand (the previous sentence pretty much sums it up). American politics in unnecessarily dichotomized and one parties does everything in their power to demonize the other. It's 1v1 for eternity.
