The kaneelstok is supposed to be soft like the zuurstok you had. A Zuurstok is traditionally hard candy, but they can be soft as well. Also at @8:11 Potato tornado: the best you can taste them is in Beverwijk (Big Bazaar a.k.a. Black Market). I like the Garlic Parsley Teriyaki flavor! Crispy inside is easy to archieve (I also make them at home): Cut the potato in spiral movement then put it on a stick and stretch them like the tornado shape. Then put them in hot boil of water en let them in for 2-4 minutes. Then pré fry in medium high temp. vegetable oil then on high heat temp. vegetable oil! Then season the Potato Tornado. Sorry about my bad English, I am from The Netherlands. ☺ You also can buy the famous special tool 😎 In The Netherlands we called: "Aardappel Twister Spiraal Snijder"

@Dutch3DMaster6 ай бұрын
They are still a very big thing throughout The Netherlands. Purmerend (where I live) used to have 2 each year, but they reduced them to 1 around 2006 or 2007, but in 2021 or 2022 they went back to 2 a year. And then, in some neighbourhoods in some cities there can be much smaller neighbourhood forms of kermis with a smaller amount of rides and foodstands.

They sell to big parks and fair showman.

I think the wine- and dropballen are the typical kermis sweets you need to get. Give it a few licks and put it away in the plastic. Traditional zuurstokken are usually hard, that when you suck at it for a while, you can sharpen it in to a lethal instrument.

Events seem to become more loud these days. 2 weeks ago I was at Heroes Dutch Comic Con (I had an early bird ticket because I wanted to see David Tennant, but he had to cancel due to a change in schedule) and I held out for just a few hours. Everywhere there was so much noise coming from certain stands so next time I'll probably wear ear plugs to dull out the noise. And only if there is a guest of my interest. The fall edition is the same weekend as Vivarium (an aquarium/terrarium fair at Autotron) and I've got my ticket for Vivarium sorted. That event will also be packed with people, but it's quite a lot quieter because there are a lot of animals, mostly fish and shrimp, to be concerned about in terms of well being. When I went there last year, I held out for a whole day.
@Dutch3DMaster6 ай бұрын
I had the same thing with the recent kermis in my city. Normally I would hear the screams from one of the high altitude rides (Booster and those kinds of things) when the cage with the passengers came out above the treeline (I could see the ride hit it's highest point before the trees got higher :P ). But now I could hear the low tones of the music almost every day. In the past, I went to the IBC multiple times in the Amsterdam Rai. And while there is no loud music, there is absolutely no sound dampening material in the ceiling space, which I still think is kind of odd for a broadcast-oriented conference. That event always exhausted me due to all the talking people you basically heard the whole event hall through. Hundreds or maybe thousands at a time...
@TheRealTMar6 ай бұрын
@@Dutch3DMaster sound should be dampened at every large indoor fair or event. And proper air circulation or air conditioning! At Vivarium that is especially vital since they want to keep the halls at around 25 degrees C because of the tropical animals. A lot of them are not in heated aquariums or terrariums but sold in cups or bags. There are strict regulations for that btw, fish are supposed to be bagged the same morning to reduce the time in that uncomfortable circumstance as much as possible. Unsold fish go back to their tanks at the wholesaler/retailer.
