They make alarms for pools, so if something falls into it and makes ripples the alarm will go off. You can of course disable the alarm when you want to swim, but I had it for my small dogs when I had a pool and it saved one of the puppies lives. She wiggled through the fence that separates the dog yard from the pool and fell in while i was inside. I would have never known if I didnt hear the alarm.

dropping a dog from 3 feet in the air (depending on how big the dog is) won't hurt it (unless im holding it upside down or some other stupid way which i wouldnt do) its not abusive if i drop a dog, im only 5'2 so it would be like 3-4 feet off the ground. if i did need to save my dog and i was holding someone else's dog i would hand their dog to them and run to get mine (ian is sad. im sorry ian i never meant to make the replies of your comment a fight)
