@@Shakooba while whitmire’s Kermit is distinguishable from Jim Henson, there were still a few times when he would say something like a few phrases and if I hadn’t known for a fact that it was Steve playing Kermit, one could easily fool me and say that it was Jim Henson’s voice. It’s never been that way for me with Matt, you just ALWAYS know it’s him, whereas Steve encapsulates the role so well that even when you knew it was him you still knew it was Kermit, and again there would be times where the voice was identical. Never with Matt, though. Edit: wow last time I post a comment without proofreading it lol, typos

Why are people so fixated on a voice, every character sounds different than the original actor (and in Dave Goelz case his characters voices have changed with his as it ages..) these characters are about an energy and a humor, which only highly skilled puppeteers (like Vogel) can accomplish.. I mean no one complains about Vogel’s depiction of Floyd, even tho it’s hugely different then Jerry Nelson’s..

That’s not the hard part. There are plenty of people with great Kermit impressions. The hard part is finding someone who can do the voice and move Kermit as well. The relationship between his actions and the movement of his mouth rely on having the same person control him while talking at the same time. It can’t be done by two separate people because there’ll by syncing issues. Plus, not to mention that most people who control Kermit have to have learned from either Henson himself or someone who Henson taught on how Kermit is supposed to move and talk.

Whitmire didn't sound like Jim Henson. We just all grew to love him after so many years with him. There hasn't been a major project with Vogel yet for us to fall in love with him. And also, the internet is around now so any voice would get anger. I will say though, Peter Linz does an amazing Ernie voice and would have been a great Kermit if he wasn't already playing Walter!

@@CrystalLynn1988 But that’s the thing, it doesn’t sound like Miss Piggy. Fozzie also doesn’t sound like Fozzie. We’ve all grown accustomed to it! This is especially the chase for people around my age (25), as we GREW UP with Whitmire’s Kermit. I think the current Kermit actually *sounds* closer to the original than Whitmire does. The main issue is that his voice is really low. Whitmire got the pitch nailed, but the pronunciations and inflections were given his own twist. Vogel actually sounds like a deeper voiced Henson. ESPECIALLY when he sings.

@@thegood9 I'm still trying to figure that out, but I think part of the reason is because of creative differences between him and Disney. In this episode of the muppets (2015), Robin didn't know that Kermit and Miss Piggy broke up and Kermit spent some of the episode keeping the truth from him. Steve felt like Kermit wouldn't do a thing like that. At least that's what I read. If anyone knows the real reason why he was fired, please reply. I also wish that Steve returned to the Muppets. Matt is still doing great as Kermit in my opinion.

A “life long muppets fan” should know Kermit’s more than a voice, there are distinct differences between Whitmire and Jim’s Kermit.. and Vogel is nailing the puppeteering, maybe the voice isn’t ideal, but he needs time.. it took Frank Oz 14 years before Jim trusted him with big characters.. Vogel’s been Kermit for 4 and a half.. give him time and you may learn to love him.
