Using Ti-84 Plus C Silver Edition: I entered the 3 equations on Y= screen and graphed them all at once, then entered Transformations Graphing app. Pressed Graph button - it graphed only one line as expected. Then I quit Transformation Graphing (double-checked that it is not running). Pressing Graph still plots only one of the 3 equations. Then I "edit" the second equation by replacing X with X. Pressing Graph now plots only 2 equations. Then I "edit" the third equation by replacing X with X. Pressing Graph now plots all 3 equations! Now, I start and quit Transformation again. Only one graph plots again. I add one more equation. Now only two equations plot - the first and the one I just entered! After I "edit" the remaining equations one after another (replacing X with X) they plot as well - as soon as the equation was "edited" its plot appears on Graph. Therefore, starting and quitting Transformation Graphing app somehow leaves the calculator in undesirable state that requires user to manually "edit" or "re-enter" all the equations except one before they can be plotted. This appears to be a bug - either in the operating system or in the Transformation Graphing app. Does it behave the same on TI-84 Plus CE?
@KermMartian8 жыл бұрын
+My Run TV They probably stay deselected after Transformation Graphing ran. Did you try moving the cursor to the = symbol between Y1 (or Y2 or Y3) and the equation, and hitting [ENTER] to make sure it's white on a black background? When they weren't graphing, was the equals sign black on white or white on black? You can disable and enable equations by toggling that.

@t2lacademy6144 жыл бұрын
Hi! I think you might have a problem with the minimums and maximums of the graph. The default only goes from x=-10 to x=10 on the x axis, and y=-10 to y=10 on the y axis. You would need to click "Window" on your calculator, and change the "Xmin", "Xmax", "Ymin", and "Ymax" values. Let me know if this helps!

KermMartian: Like your video. Maybe you can help me troubleshoot my student's issue. When trying to type in y=4x^7+5x^4+2 to graph, everything is staying in the exponent mode after the 7, even after hitting the right arrow and retrying. We even cleared RAM. Thoughts? It's either the TI-84 CE or CE Plus.
@KermMartian3 жыл бұрын
Hitting the right arrow after the 7 should indeed do the trick to exit the exponent entry mode - you'll see that the cursor changes from a small superscripted box to a larger box. If it still won't work, you could also try going to [MODE] and switching from MathPrint to Classic mode, which will allow you to enter the equation in a simpler form (no fancy exponents).

Is it possible for the calculator to tell me what the period, asymptote, phase shift, etc. is from a graph?
@KermMartian9 жыл бұрын
+EvoZims Yes, but not completely automatically. For example, to compute the period, you need to use the [2nd][TRACE] (Calc) -> Zero tool to find the x-coordinate of two x-intercepts, then subtract one from the other. For the amplitude (is that what you meant by asymptote?) you can use the Calc -> max tool.

I have the ti-84 plus and I'm trying to graph an exponential graph. Every time I put in the exponential equation and graph it, it shows a linear graph. How do I fix this?
@KermMartian8 жыл бұрын
What is the equation you're trying to graph?
@daphnestephens24318 жыл бұрын
The equation is P(t)= 18,000× 0.988^x
@KermMartian8 жыл бұрын
Surely you mean P(x)? As written, P(t) is a constant, which would explain the straight line you're seeing. If you're in rectangular mode, try entering that equation as Y1=18000*0.988^X.
@daphnestephens24318 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the confusion, that's what I meant. I tried typing in that equation to graph it, it ended up being a straight line instead of a curve. I'm pretty sure some setting is messed up, but I'm not sure which one it is.
@KermMartian8 жыл бұрын
Are you definitely in Rectangular mode if you check [MODE] (or in Y=, is the first line Y1=)? What is your Window (in the [WINDOW] key)? Note of course that that line is going to appear very close to linear, since it's close to c*1^x but isn't. I recommend you adjust the window to something that will have wide X bounds but narrow Y bounds to accentuate the curvature.

Does it come with a warranty?
@KermMartian8 жыл бұрын
If you mean the calculators, they do come with a warranty. Why?
@user-rc9jf8ng2k8 жыл бұрын
No, actually I was wondering if the manual/book comes with a warranty in case I accidentally put it in the washing machine or set it on fire leaving it on the stove or something; because I wouldn't want to pay twice. I want to have the manual for a quick reference from time to time, but I don't want to have to constantly replace it (out of my own pocket) when accidents happen.

Haha, I'm glad you found what you were looking for. For future reference, the authoritative source of information is TI's own website: see "Support" in the "Specifications" tab: education.ti.com/84ce

I'm glad to hear it, and I'm happy to help. Please also consider getting the "Using the TI-84 Plus" book as a reference guide. :)

Hey Christopher! Thanks for the TI 84 vids. Just getting to know my new 84 Plus CE. I want to do a problem in Pre-calc 12 where you graph the speed of sound which is 20 times (the square root of T, for temp in Celcius, + 273). I need to change Xmin to -285 and Ymax to 400, but I get an error message when attempting to change Xmin from -10 to -285. Can you help?
@KermMartian9 жыл бұрын
+Armando Weiss Make sure you're using the negative symbol (the [( - )] key) and not the subtraction symbol (the [ - ] key). Check out Part 1 of this series if you need a refresher on things like that. :)

how do you clear a graph?
@KermMartian7 жыл бұрын
ClrDraw (from the [2nd][PRGM] (Draw) menu) will clear any annotations on the graph but leave the graphed functions there. If you also want to get rid of the functions, go to [Y=] and hit [CLEAR] on each line that has a function defined.

@KermMartian9 жыл бұрын
+Sam Godsey Can you be more specific? Did you make sure you disabled the Transformation Graphing application (if you see "QUIT-APP" on your Y= screen, move the cursor to it and press [ENTER]).

@kimberlywhatevervids31066 жыл бұрын
You guys may be using the wrong X. Don't use the green (alpha) or blue (2nd) variables. When in the y=, you'll be using the button that says "X,T,0n". Just press it once for the X to show up in your equation.

PRICE OF WHAT? :) The book is about $17 - $25 depending on where you get it ( www.amazon.com/dp/1617293156 ), and the calculators generally run around $100-$120.

Hiw do I get decimals on my table
@KermMartian8 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the the graphed function table, from [2nd][GRAPH]? If the function has a decimal domain or range, it will show them. If you want to adjust the spacing of the X values in the table, go to TblSet ([2nd][WINDOW]) and change deltaTbl (the little triangle followed by Tbl) to a different number.

Not sure why this isn't working but by simply putting x in for Y1 and clicking graph, I get the graph screen but it's blank and no line is there help?
@KermMartian7 жыл бұрын
Brittany Peters check the Window settings - the graph and/or the axes might be off screen. if in doubt, go to Zoom and choose Zoom Standard. you can also turn the axes on and off in Format (2nd, Zoom).
@britts1257 жыл бұрын
KermMartian okay thank you, that worked. The x min/max & the y min/max were so small that the graph wasn't showing up, but it works now. Thanks again also for the informative video 👍🏾
