First time I went to Kermode to make a choice of seeing a film. Didnt feel like watching the trailer but i liked this review, and I think I loved this movie. I really liked it, at least.

Spoilers..... Having just seen this, I’m curious to see it again and see if the plot is logically consistent. It was kind of strange that her kid is clearly autistic, but they call him quirky. Like obviously he doesn’t belong at some private school. I really enjoyed this movie thanks to the powerful performances. Did you notice McKenzie Davis reprised her character from Blade Runner?

schmoab, they say they can’t get him diagnosed even though they’ve tried. So he’s not clearly autistic in the way we think, but he obviously has some kind of behavioural disorder. Which is why that scene in the new school with the nice teacher is so touching.

Did anyone miss what Marlo's husband said her maiden name was, in the hospital?

I'm curious to see this after finding Labor Day surprisingly not too horrendous. Strange an Oscar-nominated director barely gets a mention in a 6 minute review. Surely he had some creative input?(I'm not Jason Reitman)

crashandnuke in my eyes he did excellently in making Cody’s story as seamless and hyperrealistic as possible. he realized it wasn’t his story to tell and made it his mission to help Cody in every way he could

I guessed the twist in five minutes.

The movie isn't written for the sake of the twist. The twist was written for the sake of the movie. Honestly, it was nice watching it having known the ending. You get to see how clever the dialogue actually is between Marlo and Tully.

Kermode seems to never criticise any film with females playing the leading roles, with characters that are struggling and showing how hard and rough it is to be women.
