Hi Mike. Glad you were able to find a Nato style gas can in decent shape. I s just wanted to give you and your viewers a heads up regarding those gas cans. The handles are stamped steel and hollow and they provide a great place for Black Widow spiders luckily I felt the web before I tried to pour gas. I blew the hollow handles with compressed air. Out of the center handle came a huge black widow. It might be a good idea to fill the handle end openings with hot melt glue or silicone. Thanks for another great video!

Hi Mikey 👋 I'm glad you decided to go to Kern River Campground. It must've been really nice to hear the river right by your van at night when you went to sleep, or not? 😴 I like your hat! Very cool. 👍 I also liked your pumpkin carved gas can's!! Those were awesome! Safe travel's back home. 😉 Wink wink! 😊

Pretty campground, so sad about the trash/poop and wow, ppl stealing stuff. But looks like a fun get tgthr! One of my favorite things is meeting up to camp w friends. I do have one of those iron camp fire pits in my yard, but this was the first year didnt light it once! The storms and the winds and then my schedule. It was missed. Growing up, all the kids in the neighborhood would come to our back yard (we had the field out back instead of woods) every night in the summer. (Miss those ppl more than I can say, died way too young.) Vehicle was in shop this year, so no camping. Too cold at night now, but hopeful for Spring! And still looking for a camper van!

Was there eight years ago. I noticed driving back on the 178 there were some nice undesignated camp spots next to the river. Must try it sometime

To keep critters at bay, bring plenty of cheap generic corn tortillas. Before bed toss a couple dozen 20-30 feet out at the perimeter of the campsite. They'll stay busy out there all night. Tossing a few around and under your buddies tent is always fun as well.

This video got more interesting as it progressed along. And just looking at that river. I'd say if you dug down into the gravel there and into the grey mud/clay, you'd get the colour of Gold.

I reworked an Aluminess bumper system - channeled 5" from the center of it and had it welded back together - It took me 10 days after that to dial it all in which included making the custom 4"X1/4" steel angle iron brackets

Anytime you can be by moving water is enjoyable, in my opinion. Especially camping. People suck with their trash and animal waste.

Nice place for the locals to go "camping". Too bad about the littering. Yuck. The cross by the river was for a 27 year old man who died when he went into the river and got swept away by the current. Last seen on July 7 ,2024 at 10 AM and was found at 4:15 PM later in the day according to the local paper. There is a zoo to the west and it has a miniature train ride through a park with an "old west" theme. You made the best out of the campground visit Mike.

Oh Mike, I wish you knew what you were getting into, I know that is not your thing. Lots of people, lots of noise, music people at all hours of the night. Your camping is way above Lake Isabella ! I would have liked to pay you a visit as your within 50 minutes of where I live. At least you scored at the thrift stores.

Uncle Sam’s 👎When the Supply Sergeant closed that was the last real military surplus store in the area. COVID and on line buying trends killed it. You were just a couple of miles from me when you were the Rosedale area. (Uncle Sam’s and Walmart) . Too bad you didn’t have the time or inclination if you had hit me up I would have sprung for a Basque meal or even Greek as a treat. You are right urban camping is not camping the bulk of the people who use that area come from out of town(LA) and when the boat races are going to overnight. Same with Buena Vista Lake to the east near Taft off of I-5.

When it comes to anything in this world, people always seek pleasure and comfort to extraordinary degrees.. its too bad.. thats why people have gotten so fat compared to especially the 1980's... explains why society is as it is today.. comfort and pleasure... those are evil tricks.. we have all been turned into pinnochios on that island to various degrees..

Hey Mike, my first thought of those round mounds (Giggity) was that they resembled the Serpent mounds in Ohio and various other locations, mostly turned into Golf courses or protected areas. Bet if you did some digging you’d find some Giant bones. 🦴
