Kerrod, this video was one of the best I have seen on hitting long irons pure! As you say in your title, "simple, but effective!" When I was younger, I loved hitting the long iron, but as I progressed in age, I started to lean to the hybrid, but never lost my love for the long iron. Recently, I acquired a set of graphite shafted irons which has a four iron in it and I started playing around with it. This video contained some very useful information on not only hitting the four iron, but all of the irons that I will be making use of. Thanks for the Help Kerrod!

More than happy to help! Thanks for your comment. Let me know how you get on with that graphite iron sounds like it could be a good bit of fun to have the in the bag.

Kerry, this is a great educational video when it comes to hitting your irons. If you the pros, they hit their irons exactly as you teach.

Great video. Lately I've been playing my driver with your third tip for my swing thought, and imagining I'm swinging a 7 iron as well as counting. It has been a game changer. No topped shots and generally straighter and longer drives. I've always preferred long irons but generally they are hit and miss because I rush them. Will definitely try what you're suggesting to imagine I'm swinging a higher lofted iron.

Thanks for a great video Kerrod and all your content this year. I struggle with my 5 iron, and the slower swing tip will help. Happy new year to you for 2022 from here in the UK.

Wow! I've struggled like forever with the long irons. These three tips are game changers for me. NO ONE until you, Kerrod, has given me a simple swing thought to help me get over the tension I've experienced with the long irons. When I went to the range and visualized swinging a 7-iron, I immediately felt my forearms and hands relax, and I let the clubhead do the work. You're my new best golf friend, sir!

Thank you big time for your videos Kerrod! I’ve been in lessons and self-learning a lot in the past 5 years. I’ve seen many, many videos and then practice. But your videos have helped me to go from +32 to +14 in just 1 month!! What can I say, keep up the good work and big THANK YOU from Spain!

@@kerrodgraygolf It's certainly helping so far, but you know how it goes - you think you have it all figured out one day, and the next day it's nothing but mini-shanks and weak cuts! In any case, I loved your video. You provide very concrete, rational, and practical pointers.

@@kerrodgraygolf I tried out your methodology and it helped a lot on my 3 & 4 iron today. Every time I screwed up on the swing, I’ll go back to the 9 iron to hit and notice it’s completely off due to poor technique.

Will give it a go, used to be my fav club 4/5 now cant hit to save my life have to rely on a good drive and short iron. Be good to see some some advice on “if your doing this” rather than how its supposed to go.

Finally got to the range today. I''m far from home but befor I did I got fitted for srixxons. Didn't get a chance to pull thevtrigger and not sure how I am going to mix the bag up but I wanted the zx4 in tge 4 iron. Not a bad idea to get the extra distance and help in the back of the bag. Pointbis, I got my new 4 iton, the right shaft, right size grip and headed out. Aftef a lot of shots, I just settled down and let the club do tge work. More distance, much straighter, great flight. Look forward to further testing but this vid makes sense

Great video! I tend to slice the ball with the long irons, but not with my short irons. I don't know why, since my swing is pretty much the same.
