Got into a Twitter conversation with Kellie Martin (who plays Lucy Knight) and she mentioned how unsettling this episode was, even to this day, especially the final scene where they cover her with the shroud. So much blood, the pacing, the heartbreak when Corday and Rocket lose her. Honestly, this is one of the best television episodes ever. Not just this series

@@Jen-lc5yc oh definitely! I can name several more that gave me crying jags!!! Pratt dying was a top 5 gut wrenching episode. I just rewatched the series again and I did better this time around but still lose it every time I see Frank run up to get the elevator and touch Greg on the shoulder before he is wheeled onto the elevator to go up for organ donation. My stomach is churning typing this! Lol! 😭 Another bad one is when Scott Anspaugh dies and Jeanie Boulet sings their song "Time of Your Life" by Green Day at his funeral. That scene definitely chokes me up. And one more that stands out is the episode Time of Death with Ray Liotta. His acting absolutely brought me to tears at the end. Gah, the tines I cried over that show are immeasurable and I will do it all again! The writing for that show was masterful and the talent...unbelievable! One of the best shows of our generation!

This was such a good show. This episode sticks out in my memory along with when Carter’s baby died and the one when the other doc got his arm chopped off in the helicopter. I hated Lucy the entire time but when she died of a PE I was destroyed. My husband was deployed to Iraq at the time and I guess it just opened a flood gate for emotions I was constantly holding in. I remember my friend whose husband was also deployed calling me and we cried on the phone and felt silly about it but both knew we were crying about a million other things.

One great thing about this episode is that we see the different ways the senior doctors cope with this situation: Kovacs knows that he is the one having the emotionally easiest time of it (he doesn't know the victims that well), so he steps up for the hard stuff, reminds people to put their emotions aside. Weaver is focused on the work, and takes out her stress by going straight into the post-mortem mode; what mistakes were made that got us into this mess? Once her urgent work is done, she steps outside for a few seconds, throws up, then goes back in and... continues with that post-game analysis. Corday remains calm, empathetic, and focused. She's the only one who actually devotes some *time* to bedside manner. Her feelings make her a *better* doctor, not a worse one, and she's going through it throughout the whole process. Romano shoves his emotions aside completely, and is focused on being the best fastest surgeon. Only *after* he has lost the patient does he even begin to process his feelings... and he immediately throws a tantrum and denies Lucy's actually dead. And finally, Benton, with his usual attitude and catchphrase: COME ON PEOPLE LET'S MOVE

@@noondarkly When I was a teenager, all of my former (female 😀) classmates used to have a crush on Carter. Well, I had (and still have 😉) a crush on Luka. Don't get me wrong, I really love Carter as a character (he's one of my favourites), I just don't find him attractive at all... (His face is too childish and "boyish" to me.) And sorry but I've never liked Doug Ross (neither George Clooney)! Although I find the scene very touching and romantic when he and Carol reunite (I've just watched that episode 😇). I'm currently watching _Timeless_ , by the way (along with _E. R._ ) and Goran was still very hot in his mid-forties. 😎 Have you watched it? If you haven't you should 'cause it's fantastic and very exciting - but not as fantastic and exciting as _E. R._ , that's not a question. 😄
