Overall Length: 7.75 in. (19.7 cm)
Weight: 4.3 oz. (122 g)
This is a small knife that handles like a big knife.
When it comes to looks, it’s simple. What I would call minimalistic. There is no nonsense, nothing superficial.
The thick hollow grind preserves tip strength and rigidity
I love the recessed jumping along the body of the knife. It’s function and looks awesome.
Locks solid. Disengages well.
Good pocket clip.
made for the traditional saber grip
When it comes to the flipper, I’m a fan of it. Quick, easy but not too easy. There is a bit of weight behind it which feels like quality. Once pressed, it springs open. That may make it somewhat dangerous to those who are less knowledgable about blades.
Quick but not fast.
This is my current GO TO EDC knife and clearly it has been used.
For what you are getting this blade is insanely affordable.
The 8CR13MoV steel holds a great edge. Easy to sharpen as well.

Great review Luke. I like how you express your enthusiasm for various features of the knife. People who just focus on the stats give us pretty boring reviews. I too own a Volt SS. I agree with all you said about it. I did put a little bit of grip tape on the lock side of the knife to ensure my grip in even wet conditions. Great knife, great review.

Love your new intro, fancy! Keep on rocking with your vids, really like your unique personality and take on things. Just picked up a Volt SS, for $20.00 the value is simply outstanding. Need it when jogging or walking around in the city. A slim but capable EDC knife. Strength and Honor, my friend. Nikki

I've carried a Volt SS as my EDC for the last 5 yrs. and after cutting many boxes, zip ties, rope, etc... as well and field dressing and skinning many deer and antelope I still love this knife.

Another great review, man. Love your vids. Like your pull-cut technique, gonna have to try that. I debated this knife for a while before deciding not to have a spring assisted folder in my car emergency bag. Was afraid of state law variations so went with the Schrade 501 which I love (although I'd like to have the spring assist). Thinking I might still pick up this model - another folder around the house never hurts. A buddy of mine has been edc'ing one of these for past year and loves it too.

I bought one of these, then two more. Love this knife. Very light and comfortable. Very competent piece of gear. You can spend hours flicking it. Buy two and flick them both at the same time for that Bruce Lee effect. Great knife, and for the price it's ridiculously great. Buy one.

5:50 - Your blade is probably off center just from usage over time; this is normal. You just need to re tighten the pivot screw a bit and it should solve the problem.

I see these Kershaw knives on Woot all the damn time. I'm usually skeptical of anything on Woot in terms of quality, so it's nice to see a review from somebody who has used a knife a time or two.

Currently on sale at Bereli for $18, shipped. After watching this review and others, chose it over the Zing SS which was $2 more. Besides, another application for left-over Anti Slip Tape on the handle. Will be my first Kershaw and flipper. Hope you're right.

The reason the blade on your used knife is so far off center is because the pivot screw has backed out over time. That is an important thing to check from time to time while sharpening and it's a great way to keep your knife flipping action at a personalized tension. Flip the pocket clip over and join the "tip up carry" revolution... You'll never go back. Also, that stainless steel handle must be slicker than snot when it gets wet. How does the knife handle in wet conditions such as slicing open food packages with wet hands?

I have a question. What ever happened to the Kershaw Tremor? I loved that speed safe knife. Especially the one with the section of serration near the rear of the blade. I had three and now, after giving one to my son and snapping the tip on another as well as the misfortune of misplacing the other I have none. I can find this blade no where any more and it leads me to believe it was discontinued and I am perplexed as to why.

Great review Luke! I thought for sure when you said nice a dirty you were going to say ''the way I like it!'' hahahah Thanks for all your videos. What would your knife of choice be in terms of overall usage? I am wrestling over the BK2 Companion or the Esee 5, I really like the GSO7/7 but that's def out of my price range... And was wondering if you would ever do a video on your choice's and opinions on a Bug Out Bag? or a Video on a of some kind on a survival scenario.. If at all possible.. Thanks again and cheers from Yellowknife Canada. Ps. I wish you could make it up here I would sacrafice my thumb to go out for a weekend of cold weather camping

This used to by edc but now they are asking $40. So I bought a d2 ganzo fh91 for $26. I love this knife but not paying more than $30 for it in 8cr13mov. However Kershaw does the best with this steel compared to other companies. Kershaw has come out with a USA made link in 20cv for $85 which is just crazy. I'm about to buy the Kershaw link 20cv when I get my paycard. I'm hoping I can find the volt ss for 30 or under to keep in my collection. I love Kershaw. They have also come out with some d2 steel knives for $$50 to $60. I would buy one of those now instead of the volt as because now they are overpriced for what you get.

I have been wanting a Kershaw folder since seeing the reviews on the Skyline. It is now impossible for me to find the Skyline. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't change their product lines so quickly. I may consider the Volt now, if it stays around.

I have maybe 50 knives...Ranging from $5 to $400...I probably carry this knife the most, its thin enough to carry on the inside of my cowboy boot with a lanyard attached..I know i shouldnt but ive used it to cut open card board boxes (which dulls a knife pretty fast) anyway, Ive found this knife extremely easy to sharpen and it stays sharp under a lot of abuse...Ive dropped it several times without damaging it...If it was $75 it would still be a great knife for the money..The fidget factor is a 1 for this knife unless youre satisfied by it kicking like a mule when its deployed...Great knife!!!

PS: Has SpeedSafe torsion spring broke on you, (Or has anything else broken, or worn out)? If so did you have any problems with getting Kershaw to ship parts to you @ No-Charge?

I don't know... pretty much everyone carries a knife in the 4" category when they go out in the woods. It is all good to have 8" sami knives or a huge splitting axe when you go camping but if you get caught carrying a 2" spring loaded folder they confiscate the blade and give you a fine.

+NorwegianWoods The same im Germany! Of you carry a foldable knife with one hand flip or a knife with fixed blade longer than 12cm blade you need a legal reason like sports or filming etc. To transport the knife to this legal reason it has to be locked in a bag or box. In the US is such a knife no problem. But in europe more problem than a solution.
@nikolaivolkov8660

+NorwegianWoods These may or may not be technically legal. It might get very semantic, but I believe even with the strictest of "Spring" laws out there (Some U.S cities are ridiculous as well...) Kershaw usually makes it around the ban. I certainly don't want you to take my word for it and get in trouble, but check *exactly* what the law says, and then check out Kershaw's site for their technical description. Somehow, their design seems to skirt 98-99% of relevant prohibition laws in the States. Here's hoping they've skirted your Country's laws as well! :D Cheers

I own some top shelf knives and to me speedy deployment is a must. My buddy has one of those $300.00 knives that catches your pocket when you open it. We're both skilled knife fighters and we had a contest, I could beat his deployment time with this knife every time. Very fast and great for the money. What I like best besides deployment is the very thin profile which is what first attracted me to this.
