I've been carrying this same exact Cyro II for 4 years now Luke, I absolutely LOVE IT! I've experienced NO issues with the pocket clip or anything else with the Cryo II. I recommend it to any and everyone who asks about EDC or just wanting a solid reliable knife and for $30 bones too!! Glad to see someone else out there singing the praises for the Cryo II and I'm glad its serving you well buddy. I do believe when I order my next Cryo I'll be going with the Blackwash version

I've had one of these like....forever now. And it's an EXCELLENT knife. Paid $26 years and years ago. Still holds up like new. A wonderful knife that gets real use.

Gotta go against you on one thing. This is my daily carry knife. It’s amazing. But it’s also my go-to for firesteel striking. It will DEFINITELY throw sparks without an issue and without any modification to the blade. Also... if the clip breaks somehow, call kershaw, they send another one out free of any charge. Best customer service I’ve ever seen.

Dude , I love your videos , your always honest, down to earth , and enthusiastic about what your doing . I had the Cryo 2 few yrs ago, I edc'ed it for awhile , but at work I cut alot of cardboard and the 8cr steel couldn't hold up. If they upgraded the steel to like D2 or S30V I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. And holy crap ! You don't know who Rick Hinderer is ? He is a great knife designer , the Cryo and Cryo 2 were both ahead of their time , as far as collaboration knives , thats why they where so popular when they came out .( IMO)

Spotted this knife with interest in one of your recent videos (2022), so I dug back through your archives and happily found your original review. Unfortunately, I live in the great NANNY state of the east, New York, the state where most large online sites including Amazon will not ship assisted-opening knives. Thus, I sought out a smaller e-tailer that I hope will deliver (after having to answer some questions). In any regard, since your 2018 review, this knife has seen a 60% increase in price. Keep up the great content. I am a very recent subscriber, thanks to KZbin's suggested video algorithm that put one of your good videos in my queue.

I have that knife and it is a fantastic value as well as being an absolute workhorse. I also agree with you in that it is pushing the heavy side. The one thing I couldn't get over and had to fix is the thumb stud. On my knife it kept catching the seam at the top of my pocket no matter if it was clipped in the front pocket or back pocket. I heated the thumb stud up using a soldering iron and removed it. Works like a charm now. Keep up the fantastic work and keep the great videos coming.

This is the same knife I EDC as well. The knife does sharpen well and with stropping the edge will come right back. I use a Work Sharp Ken Onion model. The knife is a workhorse. I’m a professional musician and I’m constantly needing a knife during set up and tear down. I’ve had mine at least three years. Thanks for the review. I enjoy your channel very much.

I've been edcing that knife everyday for years. I use it so much I broke the spring and had to replace it (they sent me free springs). I would recommend this knife to anyone. I have a sharpening stone but am not that good at it. Would like a knife sharpening video.

Just picked one of these up for $20 on Amazon yesterday and already have it. It's fantastic for 20. Probably still on sale if you want a new one Hah, I love that you didn't know who Rick Hinderer is. He's the reason this knife is great, for the money.

I have that knife as well. I think it was about $20 at Walmart. I wasn’t expecting anything great, but it’s by far been my favorite knife. Unfortunately I dropped it one to many times and the spring broke. Still use it everyday, just doesn’t flick out as nice.

I use to run the Cryo II and loved it as well but I was always curious about the Thermite. I bought a blackwashe Thermite and never looked back. Its lighter, bigger and more grippy with the G10 handle scale. It also carries deeper in your pocket.

Great review. Had one of those for a while. Kershaw does make some blades in the USA still. The link, dividend and maybe 15 others. Also Rick Hinderer is a pretty well know folding knife designer. Does a lot of work with both Kershaw and their sister company Zero Tolerance. Would love to see some more folder reviews from you

Hey Luke, Nice review. I believe Kershaw does make knives in the USA as well as Japan and China. They have a 55,000 sq.ft. Facility in Tualatin, Oregon. They are a brand under the Kia USA Ltd. Group; Stand firmly behind their product warranty. Be safe. Zoey

I love the cryo, I’ve had mine for 3 or so years, I barely have to sharpen it and it’s perfect. But when I want something lighter and slimmer due to clothing or something I go with the kershaw chill, you should check it out, when you need something slim or light, it’s the way to go. $20 on amazon

I think I have that exact same knife, except I might have the smaller, earlier version you mentioned. I like it a lot for city use, but for backpacking and camping, I like something a little beefier. My favorite knife is the Benchmade Mini-Barrage. That knife is super awesome and has a lightning-fast AXIS-Assist opening system similar to your Kershaw. Check that one out sometime, Luke.

I bought a Kershaw speedsafe folder a few weeks ago and I am very happy with it. My only problem has been that it sometimes comes unclipped from my pocket and falls out. Do you think tightening the screws on the clip would help? Maybe I am not positioning it securely each time? Thanks for your excellent reviews!

Kershaw makes quality products, no doubt. I have a Kershaw Clash and I love the quick-opening nub on it; I like it so much that I only carry it when I'm not at work (I can trash a blade out pretty quick, and this is too nice a blade) but I've found what I consider to be a decent blade with an unexpected ability: the Les Stroud signature folder from Camillus. It's a smallish folder with a ambi nub for opening but I can't flip it out very quickly sometimes, so it's a compromise I'm willing to accept considering it has a ferro rod in the handle. There's a half-moon carve out in the spine of the blade just ahead of the gimping (that is very good, I must say) on the back spine of the blade and also on the forward part of the back of the handle. There's a lanyard loop if a lanyard is needed. Drop point 440 stainless for the blade which is 3 1/2" and 7 1/2" overall length. Rubberized handle with a good clip on it. I had a Kershaw "combat" knife with a tanto blade and a very cool coating that I'd been given through a promotion but didn't care for it; I couldn't get it out of my pocket easily due to the very thin clip on the handle and the inability to change its position (it was mounted on the bottom of the handle so the knife hung upside down in my pocket). The Kershaw Clash has a nice wide clip which aids me in grasping the knife when I pull it out. I ended up giving the free knife away to a coworker who was only too glad to have it. If you don't like it and don't have confidence in it, you may as well not have it. I like the nice straight edge on the Cryo II (the Clash as a slight inward curve in the heel of the blade) and am considering YET ANOTHER purchase on Amazon.....oy, vey! Keep doing what yer doing, and as you say: strength and honor.

It's a Rick hinderer collab. If you ever want to spoil yourself grab an actual hinderer. Nothing wrong with that one at all but an actual hinderer will blow your mind. Im not a fan of them my self, collaboration or actual but they are really good blades. Great video.

I have the Kershaw 16700BLK ,Speedsafe which says USA and love it. It's a Ken Onion design. That knife is very similar and I bet is a great knife.I like Kershaw and thanks for the review. I'll check that knife out. .

Found this vid and have been using my Kershaw like mad for years, the problem is that it lost a little of it's "umph" on the spring open action. When I flip it now, it opens about 3/4 of the way and stops. Then I have to manually flick it to get it to snap open. Do you find that you have to maintain / clean / oil the knife to keep it's action working correctly? I've not found the time to disassmble mine, but I suspect that once I take it apart and clean / oil it, it will be just fine. Just curious if you are doing regular maintenance on the knife to keep it acting right.

I prefer carbon steel for the usual reasons, but that is not important because the best knife for any person is the knife that he/she carries often and gets used to using. It is quite amazing how well the Chinese knives are made these days. I just wish that they would offer more steels than their awful 440 and the better CR13.
