It happened in 1897. All of them died and each of them were awarded with Victoria cross. The only time it has happened in war history of British. They defended the Fort long enough for reinforcements to arrive and recapture the Fort. Casualties inflicted on the Afghans were between 600-1000. Go read the accounts on Battle of Saraghari.The man on fire was the signal man who was the last man to die. The signal room was burnt and he was telegraphing the war as it happened. The giant ring was worn on turban to defend against sword attack.

The Battle of Saragarhi was fought before the Tirah Campaign on 12 September 1897 between Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen. It occurred in the North-West Frontier Province (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan). KESARI is based on the true story of one of the bravest battles that India ever fought - the Battle of Saragarhi. The year is 1897 and the British Empire having conquered most of India, is now trying to infiltrate Afghanistan. Fort Saragarhi, in the NWFP (North Western Frontier Province) is a small communication post used to relay messages between two major military forts - Gullistan and Lockhardt. To be posted at Saragarhi is no matter of pride for the newly formed Sikh regiment of the British Indian Army. Marked in color KESARI (Saffron), the Sikhs symbolize valor and pride and to die doing one's duty. Ishar Singh (Akshay Kumar), a proud warrior who prefers to live by his community rules, is often found in direct conflict with the orders of his British officers. As a punishment, Ishar is sent to Saragarhi where a bunch of 20 unruly, undisciplined Sikh soldiers await him. And it is this bunch of cheeky but lovable rouges that Ishar leads into the battle when an army of 10,000 Afghani Pathans turn up at Saragarhi on the 12th of Sept 1897. Actually it was different in Punjab, king of punjab was in London, britishers took him abroad after second anglo sikh war, More than half of Punjab’s army was kicked out of their posts and service because General of punjab’s army betrayed in Second anglo sikh war, Punjab had no ruler to lead them back to war, i will advise you to please check the movie black prince, that circular sharp weapon is called “chakra”. During that time period farmers were not able to cultivate because of insufficient rain, hence to payoff their debts they joined british army. Punjab was the last kingdom that was conquered by britishers after punjab’s last king Maharajah Ranjit Singh ji’s death. Now you know ok.

21 Sikhs of the Sikh regiment of the British Indian army against thousands of Orakzai tribesmen. The fight was over a territorial dispute between the British and Orakzai tribesmen. The battle was fought at Saragarhi, present day Pakistan, near the boarder of Pakistan and Afghanistan on 12 September 1897. I want to emphasis, that Muslims are not our enemies, it is our duty to oppose any human rights violator(s), regardless of their affiliations. Most Sikh wars have been fought and Sikh sacrifices have been given in defense and never in hate. @7:43 the weapon is known as 'chakkar' in Punjabi. It is a traditional Sikh weapon usually worn by the Nihang Sikhs around their dumalla turban. It was incorporated into the Sikh regiments uniform by the British, still worn by the men of the Sikh regiment during parades.

just to clarify.. they were 10,000 Afghan invaders and 21 Sikh killed around 600 Afghani's plus few hundred injured. The 21 Sikh fought for about 8 -9 hrs and Isher Singh (The leader) was last man standing before dying. One of history's greatest last-stands. The post was recaptured two days later by another British Indian contingent.

I swear im one of the most unlikely people to ever care to comment on anybody's video or business. This one really triggered me though, ive been watching over some of your work and reaction videos. We'll I'd only be nice to call it a 'reaction video'. Its okay to watch a trailer being completely unaware of the story line if its fictional but this is not. They were Afghan Pashtuns. Battle of Saragarhi 1897. There was no machine gun in the battle. They killed over 600!! Over 2000 were wounded. Go pick up a book or search the internet before doing a review. Lazy reviewing and NOTHING like 300 and it was the greatest last stand where each soldier won the highest military honour. The chakram ring is an ancient weapon.

Chakra the round ring at head was given to Sikhs during Guru Gobind Singh Ji the 10th Guru's time. It is used as a weapon in battles. It has the nothing to do with Kada(metal Bangle) in wrist. Battle of Saragarhi was fought in 1897 not 1940 and approx. 600 Afghans were killed. Sikhs never fought against any religion or muslims starting from the history of Sikhism. They have made the movie as its nowhere in history books and it needs to be known. Any more questions? Please ask me.
