Hi Jason! i did treat myself to the same Kessil you have here...because of your review and demo. I installed it yesterday on my 64 g blackwater. There is only one slight problem: I can't stop watching it!!! It is sooo nice and i am so happy you demo this lamp. Thank you so much. I am in awe in front of my creation LOL

What would you guys recommend for an Oscar Tank. 18x29x72 Tuna Sun or Tuna Blue to show of the fish. Would 3 be needed for the 6’ tank, or could I do 2 on it, and run a single on my 75 grow out? Thanks for any advice or tips

This is a high quality light that is great for planted tanks. I tired the cheaper lights and I quickly realized that they are cheap for a reason. In reality when compared with some of the Twinstars and the ADA lights, Kessils are a good price. I now use the Kessil Tuna Sun 160 for my planted tank and two Kessil Tuna Blues 360X for my new reef. They grow plants and corals.

There is you can buy a kessil module that plugs into the top of them and it will give you wifi to your phone it’s called the Kessil WiFi Dongle just gets plugged into the input at the top then you can still out put a Klink to another light into its input then again from that light it’s neat I I’m running 4 this way now but using the controller not the dongle I think each Klink is like around 40$ but I think the controller comes with one if I remember correctly..

in my opinion, you need to raise the light a bit up😊 Personally I would go with Juwel helialux spectrum, it doesn't have the "glitter" but I think it is probably the best light for plants. Especially reds👍👍

This might sound dumb, but can you turn the shimmer effect off?
@PrimeTimeAquatics4 жыл бұрын
Not that I am aware of - it's just how the light functions. I think most people spend this kind of money for that look. If you don't want it you would be much better off with a traditional strip LED like a FLuval 3.0?

Less surface movement is less shimmer. Shimmer is 100% natural though, the sun does it too under water.

Hey I like the review. Question. Will they grow plants? I wanted to do a Paludarium? A mixed of artificial and live plants. I wanted to use these Kessils because I use them in my reef tank the tuna blue and tuna grow, but do you think the tuna sun can grow plants? I know the grow can but its way to red for looking at constantly.
@PrimeTimeAquatics Жыл бұрын
Absolutely - these are very high-end lights that should have enough power to grow just about any plants.

Do you think one would be enough for a 36x18x9 shallow tank? or would a a360x would be better?

I like to keep them in at least a 40 breeder for two smaller goldfish. The bigger the better. I do like the general rule of thumb of about 20 gallons of water per goldfish, with a 40 gallon being the minimum.

Don't understand that a higher end light would not have control from a phone. Not a good way to draw in business by nickel and diming the customer for features that should come with the light. Specially features that are common in the industry. They should include the gooseneck too.

In my tanks, fluorescent plant lights are better for the plants and fish then a LED. My fish hide more with the LEDs on plants grow faster under fluorescents. LEDs are strobing and the strobe rates same as wavelengths of waves on water thus effect. My wife has epilepsy the strobing bothers her. It also seems to stress out my fish. I use fluorescents on big tanks LEDS on smaller ones.
