Greetings Mr. Tesfaye Kassahun. It was with profound sadness to listen to such a tragic story of Major Sisay Habte. M/Tech. Assefa Debella mentioned, there were two other individuals named M/Tech. Gessese Woldekidan, and S/Tech. Demisew Kassaye, chosen with Major Sisay Habte from the Air Force. Since these two gentlemen are still alive, did Major Sisay’s children ever contact them? If they never did may be I can get phone numbers of the two gentlemen, so they can call and talk to them if they know anything to assuage their pains. There is an error made by M/Tech. Assefa Debella regarding the Major’s high school education. Major Sisay never enrolled in General Wingate Secondary School. Instead he enrolled and graduated from Haile Selassie 1st. Secondary School at Kotabe. There he was my senior and two grades above me. After he took the Ethiopian School Leaving Certificate Examination (ESLCE), he enlisted in the Imperial Ethiopia Air Force in the field of electronics (ETC 1) either in 1960 or 1961 Gregorian calendar.

After listening to the whole story about major Sisay I now conclude that this is another victim of Mengistu one of the most brutal dictators in history
I remember very well. He was in Eritrea to evaluate the situation and to talk to progressive Eritreans in Asmara. On his return to Addis Abeba he was killed.

Way u don't ask mengistu Haile Mariam he still in life call him Zimbabwe Harare buddy
The following is to share an alternative view about Mange but by any means not intended to exonerate him of the shelling of many lives under his administration or while in pursuit of dominance, We tend to play the blame game, albeit sometimes rightly so. But lets try to be objective. While Mangistu’s Adminstration was responsible for many crimes, I disagree with the notion that his leadership was the foundation for all issues. We forget that Ethiopian history is essentially a power wrestling between one leader to another. In fact, it was only after Mangistu that Ethiopia began its journey towards true equality. Many institutions have improved under this leader more so than his predecesso. The various victims, among them, yes, my extended family members, were the result of age-old dry pride worn on sleeves by many ambitious Ethiopian leader of any level, a phenomenon that underlies even our current political impasse where one side intends to dominate for the first time and another wants to restore dominance that was lost sometime ago. Compare diversity in education under Haile S. and Mangistu and even infrastructure and you will have some objective measurement that clearly proves a significant improvement. And yet Its no denying that young upcoming leaders, such as Sisay, were targeted for their ambitions, a difference in opinion or/and an attempt to overthrow Mange. Others, vast civilians destroyed for their various political opposition. Despite such cruelty towards his victims, Mangistu is the reason why many of us can no longer be denied our membership of the Ethiopian family. May the many victims rest in peace and may this family find the closure they are looking for. May Allah guide our fellow Ethiopian leaders to be wiser, willing to coexist, and even encourage decent. Amiin!
