Use cocoa butter rather than coconut oil( without good benefits since it's refined) and you get more cocoa flavor and benefit

Cocoa butter also doesn't melt in hand as easily as the oil. It firms up.

Coconut oil has MCTs that help the body learn to use body fat for energy instead of sugar so you can lose weight.

Hi Joe, in Australia unfortunately we don't have much in the way of ingredients that are used in most of the recipes. Buying online is expensive because of the dreadful exchange rate, so hopefully sooner rather than later our supermarkets will get on board and supply us with more Keto friendly items. I will definitely try this one out with whatever I can source. Please continue with your quick and easy recipes, and it's wonderful that you give us weights. @@roses9339 Hi 🙋♀️, I'm in Australia and I can make this slightly modified with ingredients from Coles or Woolworths/Safeway. I made half the recipe because I live alone, specifically from Coles, using ... 1. Harvest Box We Love Nuts Supersize Nuts (135g of Mixed Roasted Nuts) - Look in your local nut isle. 2. Half a jar of Roasted Almond Butter (250g Jar) 3. Noshu 98% Sugar Free Choc Baking Chips (150g - Used the whole packet) - Located where the baking chocolate is. It's a small yellow packet and depending on your store, you can find White, Milk and Dark Choc Chips. 4. Coconut Oil - This is available everywhere. 5. To me, the chocolate chips are sweet enough, so I don't add any additional sweetener. But I get my "Confectioners Sugar" from my local health food shops and even my favourite organic shop at my local markets. In Australia, ours is called "PBCo 98% Sugar Free Vanilla Icing Mix". Infact, if you are not vegan like me, you can order their products online which they have a dedicated Keto range. I live in Melbourne but I am from Perth, you can definitely make this yummy dessert with some slight modifications. You can use which ever nut butter you prefer and you could even use Dark Choc Chips / Block for the chocolate as it usually has very low carb and almost zero sugar. Most I've found have dairy so I won't use them. This should help you think outside the box and change up the recipes for ingredients you can get in Australia. I switch them all the time and still make yummy recipes. Take care 😍

Think of it like using avocado oil, if you're frying chicken with it, you don't necessarily want your chicken tasting like avocado. You want it to taste like juicy, fried chicken.😋 But, as they say, to each his or her own.😊

Thanks for sharing! I just made these today, and VERY GOOD! I keep them frozen as they melt easily. (Saw a recommendation for Cocoa Butter, might try that next.) Followed your recipe and only the Macadamia nuts were salted - these are great bars! My shows about 4 carbs per bar, but that's still GREAT, especially since I can control this. I also melted/mixed everything over a double boiler (mixing bowl over boiling water), that way I could keep it liquid - I poured mine into bar molds. I'm enjoying these a lot! And it was easy enough for this engineer to figure out and complete. (Meaning, if I can do this, so can you!)

Would love to try it but I have found the advice of Dr. Ken Berry about "net carbs" holds true for me. He said to always go by the "total carbs" when counting and limiting carbs. And I have found that true because when I go by "net carbs" it knocks me out of ketosis, raises my blood sugar and adds pounds to my weight. Counting only "net carbs" may work for some I suppose, but it doesn't work for me.

This recipe looks like something I could really get behind, but I'll still be counting the total carbs for my wweight lose regimen. I especially like the incorporation of coconut oil as the fat solid for it's MCT content. This bar may not 'just' be a healthier alternative to a snickers bar, it may actually be nutritious. I'm going to make them tomorrow using a chopped bar of 85% real cocoa, salted pecans, and peanut butter because that's what I have on hand, but also because I love the chocolate/peanutbutter combo. Of course the coconut oil.
