Two years ago I started a vegan ketogenic diet for bipolar disorder, and I had just entered perimenopause-I lost my perimenopausal weight, my hot flashes & night sweats disappeared & my mood/energy improved. I am honored that Metabolic Mind selected me for a Fresh Start Award so I could raise awareness that a well-formulated vegan ketogenic diet can be doable and life-changing for bipolar, perimenopause and menopause. Thank you for this insightful interview!

Very few thrive on a vegan diet. The best thing veganism has going for it is a great marketing team and the climate hoax WEF agenda.

I love the nuance in this interview and how Dr K talks about all the other factors that could be throwing off seeing success via keto. You both mention a ‘well formulated keto diet’. Where can I get advice please as to how to do this? Books/youtube?

Dr Stephen Phinney is one of the most knowledgeable scientists in the keto space. I suggest that you listen to any of his extended talks here on KZbin. You may want to get his book The Art and Science of Low Carb Living.

Glad to hear studies being done to focus on women. When you track weight loss are you looking at how much of it is fat loss vice muscle loss?

Great interview. Love the focus on Micronutrients. I believe this is a real issue in the modern world. Also believe many trying to eat only beef and butter are missing out on important nutrients. Dr. Jeff Volek and others at Virta Health (Dr. Phinney) have been very real contributors to human health without trying to be marketing or KZbinrs.

You assume that people eating only beef and fat would be missing micronutrients but there is no proof of that.
@zamfirtoth6441Ай бұрын
Seems to me the micronutrient problems are from trying to stay in ketosis 24/7

@@prunelle19 oh, but I have proof. I have actual patients with deficiencies. Sure, some started carnivore with deficiencies but the beef and water alone don't contain the items they are missing. Plus, don't believe me, Dr. Baker, Dr. Berry, Dr. Eric Westman, Dr. Stephen Phinney, Dr. Robert Cywes,...and others have all seen this and talked about the FACT that some people will need supplements/ supplementation for past and new deficiencies. Lastly, there will never be a human controlled study as it would be considered unethical and never approved. YES, we all have clinical cases of nutrient deficiencies. Real world evidence. When was the last time most people checked their iodine, boron, copper, selenium,....and we have all seen people deficient in the standard electrolytes (calcium, sodium, chloride, magnesium, potassium,...), this is why the majority of carnivore and keto doctors sell or advertise keto chow drops, electrolyte powders,..... YES I have proof beef and water alone is not enough for everyone. No one in history (last 500 years) had lived a long life (birth till death) on just beef and water. Those that eat that way now, didn't eat that way as a child.

Thank you, Dr Kackley, for acknowledging that change will have to include a re-write of the Dietary Guidelines used in the US. 🙏

I don’t get it . I go to sleep with 1-2 mmol/liter ketones and wake up .2 , is my cortisol too higj to maintain ketosis ? I’ve been doing it for almost a year and no benefits for anxiety I did briefly for a few weeks it was miraculous and it stopped still fasting and remaining @ 20g carbs

How not getting a period for a year is healthy??
@metabolicmind28 күн бұрын
It usually isn't healthy. Dr. Kackley used that as an example of restoring. health when someone hasn't had their period for a year and then resumes a regular cycle.
