Hi Steve- I've been making this recipe for Keto-Aid for quite a while- a little bit different from your recipe. I use 6 cups of filtered water, 2 T of ACV, 2 T of magnesium powder (I use Natural Calm) 1/2 t of no salt, 1/4 t. of pink salt, 1/4 cup of sweetener- (I use Swerve powdered sugar) and 2 juiced lemons. Shake really good in your jug and drink. I seems to work really well and has eliminated my leg cramps. Thanks for all you do.
@cyranobuckminster19705 ай бұрын
So I made this (actually still waiting for my lemon and lime powder) with 1/2 tsp allulose (Lakanto allulose/monk fruit powder) and it's good. It got me thinking, though . . . I've been (separately) making switchel (apple cider vinegar, ginger and honey), cold-brewed green tea and coffee (all in two quart mason jars). I think I'm going to try adding all the ingredients for this and the switchel (subbing honey for allulose) to my green tea and/or coffee. If nothing else, it would cut down on the number of half-gallon mason jars in our fridge (which my wife would greatly appreciate). So, the snake juice recipe above minus the water, plus: 4 TBSP ACV 1 TBSP Ginger 2 quarts cold-brewed green tea (or coffee) (for those of you who aren't strict Keto, add 2-4 TBSP of raw, unfiltered honey - the health benefits of honey outweigh the carb-count, IMHO and my fasting glucose is 80-90 with two to four tablespoons per day. Also - WARNING - apple cider vinegar, ginger, allulose and Epsom salts aid digestion and gut health, but consuming large quantities throughout the day can lead to gastrointestinal discomfort of the explosive variety. Moderation in all things). I'll let you know how it turns out.

@@SeriousKeto It works! My True Lemon and Lime came in the interim and I added them along with Snake Juice and Switchel ingredients to my cold-brewed green tea. Still has the saltiness, but the tea (and lemon/lime) completely masks the ACV smell and taste. Very refreshing! Two (three) birds with one stone, so to speak. Speaking of stones, a caveat to this would be the diuretic effect of the caffeine in the tea (depending on how long/strong you brew it) might be detrimental if you flush out too much liquid leaving the salt from the snake juice in your system (kidneys) perhaps? Your thoughts?

Ok Steve, only you and I can see this post, no one else. When you put your container in the fridge my ingredient policeman sirens went off (especially that miracle whip, Ugh! 🤢) but then I realized you are the only Keto person in your home, so I breathed a sigh of relief. My wife works in a doctor's office, big pharma doctor's office, and the doctor I occasionally see in that office said to my wife, something close to, "Oh sure, you'll lose weight on Keto, but once you stop, you'll gain it all back." And my wife has said that to me several times, and it just dawned on me how asinine that thinking is! It's like saying, OK, if you eat healthy and lose weight, then go back to eating cake and ice cream you'll just gain all that weight back. I guess I'd never considered how stupid (to me) that thinking is! I've heard other sensible doctor's (mostly chiropractors I think) say that you don't want to get healthy so you can go right back to what made you sick / fat in the first place. But that's the thinking of this doctor I know personally. 🤯 🙄 Thanks for letting me rant.
@SeriousKeto5 ай бұрын
That's a common refrain amongst the anti-keto people. But the same could be said of any dietary lifestyle and it seems rather self-evident - if you go back to eating like crap, you're going to gain weight and have health issues. You could say the same thing about exercise. You could say the same thing about playing guitar or any skill. "When you quit practicing, you're going to quit being good at it."

Thank you for sharing this recipe. I have a simple formula for an electrolyte drink that has been approved by my doctor AND is right for me. I use a quarter teaspoon of Morton’s Lite Salt in 12 ounces of water with an added zero calorie flavoring. I already take magnesium supplements twice daily (magnesium L-threonate, magnesium glycinate) so I’m not looking for that in my electrolyte drink. Some people panic about potassium in lite salt, but potassium is an electrolyte and found in commercial electrolyte beverages. Most people don't get enough potassium in their diets. A quarter-teaspoon serving of one potassium chloride salt substitute contains about 800 milligrams (mg) of potassium, or about one-sixth of the daily recommended intake for potassium, which is 4,700 mg. This beverage is my only daily use of lite salt…or any salt for that matter. Obviously, you should do as I did: Check with your physician and have your levels checked via a blood panel as often as recommended. What I am doing is right for me…perhaps not right for others.
@SeriousKeto5 ай бұрын
Potassium is hard to get in your diet - especially if you're doing keto. If you look at the actual percentages in most potassium supplements, it's usually around 2% of the recommended amount per capsule/tablet.
