I haven't weighed one time in the full 2 weeks I've been on Keto. This time, I just want to go by how I feel and track my food on MyFitnessPal. Let the process happen and trust that it will. Keep on the path and expect to get to where I want to be. It's working so far. I find that slow scale progress can really undermine my happiness.

For me it is a need to self medicate in a way .. Let's say I'm having a bad day or , just upset about something in general ,sugary starchy foods were like a drug for me ,and for the 5 or 10 minutes I am eating that unhealthy food it makes me feel sooooo good . but like Jeanna said , after I eat them I feel guilty, so its not worth it ...Doing keto I don't get those urges anymore

Kara Leeann I was doing keto for 2 months and just had a cheat day....and then cheated the next day too 💩 Do I regret it? No. I say no because it helped me realize what I had left behind when I started keto. I started having stomach issues which I hadn't experienced since starting keto. I had a lack of energy compared to my normal fat fueled days. Lastly, while I was gaining weight, my wallet was losing it! I ended up spending X amount of dollars on items I didn't need. Butterfinger and sour Skittles as a snack throughout the workday? Sure why not, might as well make the cheat day worth it. Then the next day it was Mac and cheese and then nachos later on. I'm not proud of what I did but I do not regret it. If anything, this is motivation to stay true to the keto diet. I lose/maintain my weight, my wallet stays fat while I stay thin, and who doesn't love more bacon and avocado?

I keep convenience foods out of the house, like nuts, nut butters, protein bars (Keto Bars, Quest), ice cream bars (So Delicious). If I do plan on eating nut butters, I make them myself in a food processor so that I can control the amount because I could finish half a jar in no time at all. I intentionally make it more "work" because it discourages me from eating it. When I stray from my diet, I do it over-eating keto or low-carb foods that are easy to grab from the fridge and pantry. I gave up chips, rice, bread, pasta, and all that carby goodness years ago and I haven't looked back. But that doesn't mean I don't have my low-carb temptations, too. Macadamia nuts are my weakness and I WILL eat every single one in the house. I know this about myself. For a long time I just tried going the ol' portion control route, but I realized that these foods in particular were huge triggers for me. Other than for holidays or special occasions, I don't buy them anymore. It's a lot easier to control myself at the grocery store than when I am alone in my house. Diets of deprivation are emotionally painful in the long term, so I don't ruthlessly restrict indulgences. I just try to manage my indulgences a little more responsibly.

Fasting can reset your appetite. We're quite spoiled and the food industry shoved this idea of '3 meals a day' and 'breakfast is the most important' into our heads. Truth is, you are designed to fast. There's absolutely no way ancient humans had 'breakfast'. They got up, went hunting, ate the old food, smoked the fresh meat, hiked 500 miles, ran out of food, kept going and after a couple days of 'forced fasting', they got another deer and took a small break to recover, before doing the entire process over again. Science shows that you're actually doing more damage if you never fast in your life, never allowing the crappy cells (the ones that cause dementia, cancer, diabetes, etc.) to be recycled via autophagy. I'd be more emotionally distraught about eating too much, than eating too little. Our ability to fast is probably why we survived and Neanderthal didn't.

manictiger YES!! THIS!! I came from a moderate carb vegan diet over to the keto side almost a month ago and have been doing the one meal a day to try to lose the last 10 pounds as well it has not worked but I noticed that I was getting very binge-y and eating too much at that one meal so I did a 48-hour water fast and then boom! I completely reset my appetite, .my motivation, everything.. as well as I lost 2 pounds :-)

I love quest bars! But there sooo expensive. So I eat about 25g of carbs bc my body can tolerate a bit more, but this is because I’m also a vegetarian, so I can be hard to be keto and vegetarian. So protein supplements that are high in protein are typically high in carbs. So I sacrifice just a few more carbs

Touching on #9. I'd go as far as say don't worry about being keto 24/7. If you break keto it's not the end of the world. The next day is an opportunity to get back in it. It's about the long term.. If you're fat adapted you'll find yourself able to get back in to keto very easily.

I agree. My tip would be don't give up and listen to your body. I've been mostly Keto for 3 years. By mostly I mean I sometimes eat LCHF because my body craves foods and I listen. Sometimes I want fruits or beans and I eat some. A very little in comparison to how most people eat nowadays. I've lost over 100 lbs since I changed my eating habits.

Just imagine that every time you eat carbs, the nerves in your feet are dying and your insulin resistance goes up. If you fuck up enough, you get to see your feet get sawed off. Diabetes, yay! But seriously, just remember that pain is an illusion. We out-survived Neanderthal because we did better in starvation circumstances. We didn't need grains or sugar, we didn't need 3 meals a day and we didn't need breakfast. We needed to lodge a spear in that deer's ass so we can have the energy to trek hundreds of miles. That's what we are. We're fuckin' resilient! You're stronger than you think you are.

Re: Snacking. I find that having a plate prepared a few hours in advance of my evening relaxation time helps keep me on track. usually, it's just a simple charcuterie plate and some Earl Grey or chamomile tea. It really helps to have it as a ritual because it has trained my body not to expect anything else after that.

My big mistake relates partly to accountability: I was using an artificial sweetener and refused for months to admit it was preventing further weight loss. Also, I started using more and more, and it wasn't until I started to _gain_ weight that I finally admitted I had to do without it. People often react that way to one or more of the artificial sweeteners, but I was convinced it wasn't affecting _me,_ lol!

I started keto a month ago. I pretty much eat same menu every day. It's a learned thing since I was a kid trying to lose weight. I eat morning 9 am Ice coffee no sugar base 1 creamer, 25 pecans, 1 ketobomb as I'm at work. I eat again at 5 PM a leafy salad, 3 oz. Chicken mixed in and 3 tables. Blue cheese dressing., On weekends I have 2 eggs breakfast mashed with mayo and supper is a salad described above with bacon added. On weekends I have 2 squares of 85 percent dark choc each nite. I did the calories it wrks to be about 1100 day and I sometimes hit 20 carbs or a little over. I've lost 11 pounds in a month and I'm sedentary due to a bum hip. So yeah I'm looking to keep it up until I lose 50 lbs then I will see how I feel. Feedback is welcome.

Starting in middle school I would intermittent fast without thinking about it. I was just too lazy to get up early enough to eat breakfast. I'd rush to get ready and not eat until my lunch period. This has continued into my adult working life as I have social anxiety and don't always feel comfortable eating at work. Before I learned about just how negative carbs can be to weight loss and about intermittent fasting, the only successful weight loss I had I wasn't even trying. I started my very first job and had so much anxiety I could barely eat anything. So instead of bringing a lunch or buying one, I just didn't eat. I went from my heaviest ever 260, down to my lowest ever (until recently) 209. Eventually I did gain 30-40 pounds back. And since I struggled to go down from 230-240ish and keep it off. Until I learned about intermittent fasting and cutting carbs drastically. I now stick around 200.

xinic5 please start taking pro and probiotics. Your anxiety can be from a lack of good bacteria. For instance Lactobacillus Helveticus R0052 is responsible for making serotonin, 90% of your serotonin is made in the gut. As well as dopamine. Make sure you’re getting sufficient bacteria back into your system. ✌🏻💕

I have been on keto for six months. In the first 4 months I lost 30 lbs and for the last 2 months I have essentially maintained my weight but haven’t been so strict with the food. However having said that I can say it was the easiest thing I’ve done. Once keto kicked in then I didn’t have the cravings or the constant hunger. So it really became easy to do. It certainly was easier than the starvation diets I’ve done in the past or waking up at 5am to go to the gym and none of them worked. This time with keto I really didn’t do any exercise at all. I lost it all through just basic principals of keto. Also I wasn’t gorging on bacon and meat all day long as other keto people have displayed. I am more of a Dr Berg follower and his food choices.

one last comment :p but i love number 12, being accountable for yourself. When i first started keto, i was trying to make my partner get on board with me and it was hard because they were not into it like me and i kept using him as an excuse to have cheat meals...but over a time of trial an error, i now realize i am the only person who truly cares about my health and i have to make sure i do it for myself :)

I did keto for 4 months last year and all of January this year. I'm giving IF a shot. Thanks for all the help though Keto Connect, you guys rock. If this doesn't pan out I'll be back. Keto changed my life but got old. Also, for me it's not so much my eating window I'm worried about (still at least 14hrs though) or macros but my caloric deficit. Have to admit having pizza again (in moderation) is.. an experience after no carbs for months.

I was going in and out of ketosis for 2 weeks and had no idea what could be the cause since I was staying at about 10-12g of carbs per day. Turns out the only product that I didnt check the nutrition label for was cheese. Each slice of the Kraft Singles I was eating had 4g of carbs and I was eating about 6-8 per day as snacks or with eggs. As soon I changed the cheese to 0g carbs, Ive been in keto for 2 months now. So I would say make sure you read EVERY LABEL for nutrition information, even something you may never think has carbs. Thanks for the video.

I've noticed the over thinking and need for perfectionism on a couple of the keto fb pages. The artificial sweeteners kind of get me through certain days. Many frown against it. I try and stay away from the bad ones but and I read labels as much as I can but sometimes in a rush, I might miss an ingredient and might have eaten a whole bag of it before realization kicks in. I'm not going to sweat it if I'm still making progress. I actually unfollowed the pages that seem a bit too stringent. A lot less stress. But I've lost 10 lbs since December 31st. I'm now 10 lbs from my ideal and then I will work on adjusting for maintenance.

Katie Hecker Stuff like Maltodextrin kicks you out of Ketosis though so in that example it’s not a preference thing, it’s something people shouldn’t do.
@Kabgirl24

I do stay away from maltodextrin, maltitol and the ones that really cause a spike in insulin. I do partake in erythritol and stevia mostly. I try to stay away from dextrose but if, let's say I'm traveling and there are no other options available...even though I try to avoid it, in a pinch I won't sweat it too badly. I have been doing this for about 2 months and haven't been kicked out of ketosis at any time thus far. So, I have been careful.

Katie Hecker I agree I don’t think it’s a big deal. I do Stevia mostly. I was actually kicked out of Ketosis after about two months in because my girlfriend made some Keto muffins with “baking stevia”. Basically it’s Maltodextrin with some stevia. I could not figure out why these muffins made me insanely hungry. Sure enough I could tell after two days I was out of Ketosis. Took me a bit to find out why.

My biggest mistake starting keto was making to many of the recipes and not keeping it simple.. the recipes when starting out can really put your macros out of wack, way to high of calories etc and you don't lose the weight... if a person is overweight and wants to lose on keto keep it simple wait on the recipes out there until you lose a substantial amount that you are satisfied with or you will become discouraged.

I started keto July 2016 lost 50lb . Went from a size 16 to a size 12. I eat a lot of keto approved sweets. I've kept the weight off. I don't track macros. You said something about how you feel so energized in a video and made me think. I bought more MCT oil and went back to basics tracking my macros. Unbelievable how I feel. I was so caught up in my weight loss I totally forgot about how good you feel when you are actually in ketosis. Point to all this is I started a keto diet and ended up on a low carb diet. Definitely not the same as far as how good you feel on a ketogenic diet. So don't be what they call lazy keto it really does make a difference!

I started keto a little over a week ago and so far I've been feeling great. I've easily managed to meet my goals every day and staying under 11% carbs every day. Some days I've even gone as low as 7%. I used to be hungry all the time but now I can comfortably get by with two decent meals a day and still meet my goals and if I fall short on fat I just pop a little MCT coconut oil and I'm back on track. If I start to crave a snack I usually just grab a piece of jerky or cheese with some flavored mineral water and suddenly I feel full again. I'm slowly cutting caffeine and I've been trying keto recipes of my favorite foods to keep my taste buds satisfied. I've stayed in the calorie deficit every day and I start a gym membership this week. In just a few days I went from more carbs than I can count to almost none and cut almost sugars in the process. It feels good. I don't plan on using keto forever but its a great way to get myself into better habits for when I move on to the next step. After a few months of keto and cardio once I meet my weight loss goals I'm switching to palio and focusing on building strength and muscle mass, but I will carry over my habits I've built up from this diet to stay fit and healthy.

In the past, swimming laps made me so hungry so I am not doing that. I have 100 lbs. more to lose. My goal is to get in my 9/10 pants by Sept. 2019. A few mistakes on keto I have made is not eating enough fat and going way to low on my calories, not listening to my body when I was hungry and pushing myself way too much with all the things I thought was right with keto just because the internet said so. However after a few years going back and forth with this WOE and doing more research, finding ways to adapt it to my lifestyle it has become second nature. I am always learning new things every day and I do not pressure anyone to do this eating style. Also I do not look at this as a 'diet" but a way of life. Thanks Ketto connect for everything you do!!!

I'm making the transition to keto and this is the best advice I've gotten so far as a newbie! For the last 2 weeks I've been consuming keto fats, drastically cutting back the carbs and withdrawing from splenda. This week I'm making the switch from diet pepsi to green tea. I'm taking things day by day and not obsessing over it all. Getting validation that I'm doing this the right way for me (naturally and realistically) helps a lot. Thanks!

HI... I'm new to keto and a new subscriber to you guys! You guys are awesome! I love your "down to earthness"... lol... is that a word?? I used to be a competitive bodybuilder and got my IFBB pro card in 1996... the diets for bodybuilding back then were old school... high protein, low fat, and low carbs for periods of time when I got closer to a show. After I got my pro card I retired for 14 years and then came back in my 40's and did 4 shows in 2010... I worked with a top figure trainer with my diet... he had me adding fats that I never had before, and although my protein was still the highest macro, I felt great that time around, not like I used to in the 80's and 90's... but I had to eat 6-7 times per day... You're basically tied to your food and training. Blah... lol. Since then I've decided I'm done competing and have really gotten into my horses and it's just so hard to stop and eat every 2 hours. I've heard of keto for a long time, but never looked into it until now... and it's been the answer I was looking for... I don't have to be tied to my food... when I'm out with the horses I can enjoy them and not think that I have to go in and eat... this has kept me satisfied for longer periods of time so it doesn't interrupt my time with them. AND... I just weighed today and I'm down 9.8 lbs. since April 17th... and I'm so happy with this lifestyle. It allows so much more freedom! Now that I've gotten used to it more... I'm looking into desserts and and saw your keto chocolate chip cookies, which look great!!! And am definitely going to try them. Thank you for your great videos!!! This one is another awesome one! I love how you guys are doing what feels right to you... that's what it's all about. I'm noticing I'm not perfect everyday, but am close and am consistent. My carbs are at 10%, protein is 20%, and fat is 70%... it's really been a learning curve to eat that much fat with way lower protein, but you guys are right... it makes you feel so much better!!! Keto is great! Thank you again for all of your videos!! 😍😊😀 PS... you guys are so cute!
