I just turned 80 and have lived on Keto for 3 years. I went from size 1x to size 12. I am big boned and I could go smaller but this seems where I stay. I do not have a scale as I do not put myself through any stress. I would say I took 30 or 40 years off how I feel. Glad you enjoyed Hawaii. I have lived on the Northshore of Oahu for decades. Much Aloha for all your Keto honesty.

Thank you for your testimony.❤ I am 52. At 42, I had to have an extreme hysterectomy. It began as surgery to remove lesions from Stage 4 Endometriosis. Once he got in there, he saw that it was more than he thought. It was growing on the outside of my stomach walls, intestines, *everywhere* ! And blood (because these lesions bleed once a month just like normal endometrial lining)was pooling behind my stomach because it had no where to go! Any way-- that extreme hysterectomy, automatically kicked me into menopause. I begain gaining weight *immediately* too. 😳 I tried everything that *used* to work for me to lose weight and I still kept gaining.😔 Last summer I was even excercising and walking 4-5 miles every single day, along with an intermittent fasting program. *Nothing worked* .🤷‍♀️ Two months ago, I started this, and have lost 10 pounds so far. It's not a lot. But after years of doing everything "right" and still nothing working, this feels great.😊

What happens to me every time I cheat is, next morning I'm so hungry, like I haven't eaten for weeks....so wanting to stay in keto next morning becomes a really hard struggle. I learned that's not worth it. Plus the feeling bad and pain in your joints...be on the "keto zone" make this journey so much easier on yourself. That dosen't means I'm perfect, far from that!! As always love the video!!....👍

"But of course lost weight is never lost lost. It’s only out of sight. In the last eleven years I’ve added and subtracted the same twenty or thirty pounds more than a dozen times. Yet no matter how often I lose them they are always waiting, just around the corner, biding their time, tapping their feet, checking their watches, ready to descend once again in ripples and folds and bulges. Fat is vigilant. Fat is patient. Fat is eternal." from "The Paris Effect" by K. S. R. Burns The Paris Effect: A Novel I read this every day like a mantra. Have lost 35 on keto over the last year with you guys as my guide. Just starting to eat a few carbs here and there but remain basically keto. I’ve found that a-lot of things I remember fondly rarely live up to their reputation that I have assigned them in my head. I enjoy it when someone says, ‘ you look good’ and don’t want that to go away. 🎉Thank you

This past Sunday was our big Easter Dinner at Church. My husband and I carefully planned what we were taking so that we could have something to eat. We took Keto Lasagna by KetoFocus. green beans by me, and Keto mini cheesecake muffins by momsecret. We also listened to you all on a previous VLOG when you advised to eat something before we got there and ate a bacon and egg wrap prior to leaving. The lasagna was completely gone, the green beans were low, and we only brought home 2 cheesecake cupcakes. Going through that buffet line was like walking through the Valley of the shadow of death for me. It was all southern food. I turned my head and only focused on what I could eat. Which was ham, green beans and cole slaw. Our lasagne wS gone but Kevin got us a cheesecake while we were in line. Funny thing is everyone was bragging on what we prepared. Even though I told them it was Keto. We also weighed Sunday, I've lost 82# and Kevin has lost 56#. He is very close to goal wt. Well have to figure out what to do when he gets there to keep him steady. I've got to half my heart med, bp med, and metformin and I'm off insulin! I'm so encourage with this life change. Thank you both so much for helping me on this journey. Keep on VLOGGING cause we're watching. 😉

I love you two. I am 79 yrs old and started keto about three years ago just to lose weight. I have no medical issues. I am no longer strict keto but I have totally changed the way I eat. Even if I have a cheat meal, I am right back to my regular diet. I literally changed the way I eat. Now, I did not have to lose a great amount of weight, but I am just shy of 5 ft and then I was at about 140. When ketosis kicked in, the excess weight just melted away. I was amazed. I was hooked in terms of how I eat. Today I find I don’t have yearnings for sweets. Even my bread desires are less. This is a realistic way of eating for me. I make better choices when I eat out and feel better over all. I have come to an ability to not cheat when I go out. There are lots of good choices. I hope everyone who watches these videos gaines knowledge from the responses. You can do it! If I could, you can too!

I’ve decided this time to do this: if I have a cheat it will be one item in a meal. Not a whole meal, not a whole day. We just had our family reunion for the first time in 3 years and I had a piece of my Sis in law’s Fig Cake. I came home and that evening had wings and I’m going strong. I’ve lost 18 pounds since my birthday mid January... I’m really trying to have a different mindset this time. 2020 made my anxiety crazy but I didn’t get control back until 2022. 💋🧚🏻‍♀️❤️🇺🇸

This was a great video, as usual. The only thing I would say is, if you have bona fide issues with food, a cheat meal can literally be the kiss of death. I know that sounds dramatic, but it's true. I know I would go absolutely nuts and possibly never come back. Doing keto has arrested my eating disorders and put my autoimmune disease (hidradentitis suppurativa) in remission. That self knowledge keeps me in check - people like me can't cheat without terrible consequences. However, I recognize folks do keto for a variety of reasons, and a lot of them can moderate their off-plan choices with no issue. Thank you for a balanced discussion on the topic and as always, I really appreciate the time and effort you both put into your wonderful channel!

I believe self control is a major part of the keto lifestyle. I've struggled with being overweight all my life. I've had pcos, and now hormones with age 62. I'm living my best life with keto and every now a cheat meal. I do strength training daily too. Prayer starts my day and believing to stay healthy. I wanted to try, thanks for the Factor idea! I’m so happy to hear you say all of this. My husband‘s family was in town so we went to the Riverwalk for Mexican food. I had a margarita and was so sick. I had never heard of someone on keto getting sick from alcohol. But as long as I’m in ketosis I can’t touch the stuff. Not a bad trade-off, I don’t really drink as it is. But I was so embarrassed to be so sick in front of my family after one drink.
@sealbutts
@sealbutts 2 жыл бұрын
Alcohol actually goes *straight* to your liver when you're in keto because there aren't any carbs to block or "absorb" it along the way to help it digest slower, so it's actually quite normal to get drunk faster or not be able to handle it if you haven't had a drink in a while! I keep my body "in touch" with alcohol by allowing a few sips of wine here and there during the week, otherwise it's such a huge shock to suddenly feel woozy after a single drink (I'm someone who on a normal lifestyle could drink 5 or 6 without much effect)

Biscuits! Boy do I miss them. I can make an acceptable substitute that is a cheesy biscuit with much the same texture, but the real deal, yum! Last time I went off the wagon I was on vacation, doing quite a bit of traveling in Ubers and buses, and was VERY cautious about what I ate in case, well...you know. And ladies, I am with you...I have been sick or parked in my least favorite room in the house if I over indulge so I generally do things in small amounts. I have learned to live with this system and I am OK with it. I am getting ready to make some keto chocolate covered expresso beans so I can quit lusting over the ones in the stores. Good discussion, gals.

When I started my Keto journey, I planned leaving my carbs for the weekends. (I’m not promoting this; it is just a decision I made) So every week, I eat like I “should” as far as Keto but then starting on Friday night allllllll the way through to Sunday dinner, I have WITHIN REASON, whatever carbs I want. If I want fruit, I eat it on the weekends. If I want a burger WITH A BUN, I have it on the weekend. If I want a Little Debbie cake guess when I have it! But mainly it’s the fruits and veggies that I don’t get to have on Keto that I eat on the weekend. (Again this is MY way of eating I am not promoting this) what is the difference? It has taken me 5 months to lose 20 pounds instead of 5 weeks or whatever. But it’s fine. I’m fine with that because my plan is to keep eating this way for the rest of my life. I will say this. If I go too crazy on the weekends, by Sunday, I feel terrible. Not sick, but bloated and heavy and just gross. Good luck to all on your journey.

Thank you Twins: Last September hubby & I went on vacay for the first time in 2 years. I did have non keto foods sometimes (Jersey shore favorites) & was able to go right back to Keto once home. Then I fooled myself into thinking I could do the same thing during the Holidays….absolutely NO! Of my 93lb weight loss of nearly 2 years on keto, I gained 17 lbs back. Getting back to Keto took me all the way thru to this month, April 2022. In fact just a week ago. So I’m starting all over. That 17 lbs was added to the 30 lbs I was still looking to lose. Somehow it seems harder, but I need to get out of my head. So I went from looking to lose 30 to now looking to lose 47. ☹️😣

Even so, everything in my closet fit me better or was loose (my style). Then, sadly, my family and I got covid last year and I gained my weight back. This video is such an encouragement to go back to KETO, the only lifestyle that I have ever lost weight doing. I am going to adopt your philosophy and not stress, but pay attention a meal at a time. Yes bread, one of my weaknesses, I went down a rabbit whole to make a keto bread to my liking, eventually found that no matter what I did I couldn't get what I was use to, but on that journey I developed a taste for a flaxseed bread and wrap that I now love more than "normal" bread. It took time, but I realised tastes change over time. If I eat "normal" bread now I get really bad heartburn.

I have been making biscuits and scones with Victoria's almond flour blend simply subbed in a regular recipe. For the milk, I either use buttermilk, watered down greek yogurt, watered down cream or sour cream, or a mix of these. They're phenomenal biscuits - better than regular ones. I use 2 or 3 tsp of baking powder per cup of flour. I also make chicken bone broth which is easy to turn into gravy with just a teaspoon of a starch slurry (arrowroot or tapioca). Then I have biscuits and gravy that feels like cheating...but it's not. This also makes what I call "deconstructed pot pie" if I add some leftover chicken, and just a few frozen peas and some diced carrot while making the gravy. This has gotten me through a comfort food craving more than once!🌈

So True! We went on a cruise and we planned to go off of Keto for the week we were on the cruise. But we know how we feel on Keto/Carnivore. So we planned that after we returned home we would do BBBE for 2 weeks to reset and get back on track. After day 5 my wife and I were both back to the weight we were before our cruise! My wife was able to eat a lot of not keto foods on the cruise. I myself choose a lot of more keto options, I avoided bread almost completely, because I know how I feel after eating bread...But what surprised me most, I ate all the time...so much food every day, i avoided sugar as much as I could, I always choose the sugar free option for desert. I tried a bite of our kid's foods. But the surprise was, when I got home after 13 days of traveling and cruising...I was only up one pound! Maybe it was the 15k-20k steps I had most days along with an increase of activity...And during that entire trip I only felt crappy for a few hours after eating something with bread or wheat in it. It's easier to avoid things that you know make you feel bad...but I did what a lot of people have said, eat the keto type foods first and then eat the junk...so you are nearly full when you have that garbage food.

11:10 I really understand this because I live in a house where people cook and they cook very non keto things most of the time so I'd be jealous or angry or even a bit depressed thinking about not being able to eat potatoes and mac n cheese and certain stuff but here is the one thing you can do to beat that. Cook. And eat what you've cooked. Sometimes I make meals as substitute to those things that I can't have. And sometimes I cook some of the best food I ever eaten like a Keto shashuka or the best keto bread sandwiches ever. And after I eat that I can't help but feel better about my situation because although one person can go to McDonalds and eating 50 cent fries that you miss, those people probably can't make food better than some of the foods you can find out how to make by cooking keto.

You guys hit all the nails on the head, we just got back from a little trip. I had planned on making sure my meals were keto and I wanted to get a sundae. I shared it with my husband, I was ok, but yeah, my stomach sounded like a haunted house 🤣 the next day though it was hard to rein back in those desires. I did well for my dinner but tried some of the kids' desserts. That was a mistake, it wasn't planned, and I couldn't stop taking bites. I finally had to say, "No more, those are off-limits, I'm done." I was so tempted to get on the scale, why in the world would I do that to myself?? I didn't though, I'm going to wait until my weigh-in which isn't for another 2 weeks. Enough time to get my eating back under control, I'm doing hardcore carnivore to eliminate temptations. Thanks for the video, lots of great information! Oh yes, finally got some LMNT because you guys are always showing it in your videos and you're not kidding, it's really good! I just had a 5 day vacation with my sister. I gained 1 kg (2.2lb) a lot for me, I'm at my goal weight. We both eat keto, I had been strictly keto for 3 months. The place we went to was a "retreat" in the mountains, no shops and only the restaurant and coffee shop attached to the retreat. Expensive and not keto friendly. My sister, wise lady, been on keto for a long time, bought some of her own must have foods and insisted we went shopping at the bottom of the mountain for some essentials. Just as well. I didn't even think about that. We watched your vacation video together while there, so happy, good timing. Love my sister for thinking like you. However, I decided to have wine I don't normally have and I had bread once served with the meal and had the pastry on a pie and chicken nuggets at the airport going home because my flight was delayed and I knew I'd be sick if I didn't eat until I got home. I also ate a little more than I do at home. I made this choice. I went back to strict keto the very next morning after getting home and now 5 days later I am only 300 grams away from what I was when I left. I'm so happy I enjoyed my holiday and didn't get lost in continuous weight gain. Thanks for your well timed talks.

You both are so wonderful. You manage to give the tough love without the toughness. The hardest thing for me is to come to grips with I can't ever be off Keto if I want to always be smaller.

You ladies are soooooright about not going off track. Every once in a while I go off track and eat carbs....such a bad idea...I will suffer for 2-3 days because of it. Don't do it , it's not worth it but I probably will do it again...ugh

So Sunday i threw my wife a huge birthday party! My wife is filipino so there was an insane amount of food! I did amazing till dessert was ready. I tried like 12 different desserts. I was perfectly fine till the next day! I was in the bathroom all day and severe joint pains. I believe it was from inflammation, being i avoid the foods that cause that issue. I feel great now and actually back in ketosis , which i was surprised it only took 2 days. I doing a phenomenal job getting right back on track. Most people tell me I'm not normal lol To be honest I prepare myself weeks in advance when one of these days come. Stay focused is all! The best part is i just got labwork done and everything is perfect even with a few cheat days ! I could have never done this 10 years ago. Frankly I got tired of injecting myself with insulin 3 times a day ! Im at 7 years maintaining 189 pounds ! Just sharing BTW you two are the best !!

I’ve been on keto since mid February. I can taste sugar in stuff now if I accidentally have something that has sugar. There has been times I’ve wanted to cheat and have some chips or order a pizza but if I give in I won’t go back on it. Carbs are so addictive! I’ve lost weight and improving my health so I can’t go back. I have to keep telling myself this is how I eat now.

Yeah I get the whole anger of why can't I just be normal! I'm a type 2 diabetic and it's just so hard I'm 62 and was diagnosed at 32 almost 1/2 of my life I've struggled with this but I would have been dead if not for this disease so God brought me to Atkins then Keto. Watching this video after 2 cheat meals so time to get back on the bike and ride!

I totally understand. I have to not watch food channels, unless it’s it Keto recipes to help me keep my mindset. If I go off, I’m so sick for 2-5 days of pure misery. Then later I may forget that misery and oops! I just have to remember the misery, so I keep a food journal of what food helped me to feel better and what made me feel miserable. I’m a visual person so this helps. Thanks for sharing, you are so real.

You two are great! Totally agree. I had keto rash again (first time last summer for six weeks)! I ate pizza, and the next day, I ate sushi. I am back on keto and just going ahead. Realistic is important. Oh and I ordered Factor per your recommendation! Great meals. ESP the jalapeño lime chicken. 🌺

You two are so real. I love how you know what I’m going through and have gone through my entire life. Still struggling. But having your videos to help me make all the difference. I would love a video or two or three about your non-eating wins, like how it feels to be thin versus what it was like before. I remember Emily in another video talking about the way people treat her now has changed. Things like that. A lot of things. All the things. TIA.

Ladies, you do a good job. You talk about realistic goals and being human. I did a strict keto diet for two months and lost 25 pounds. I felt good but still missed some carbs. Life is too short to miss out on the finer things (food). I eat two meals a day, no separate snacking. I make keto snacks and do fat bombs. Doing good carbs with protein. I do the snack with the meal. I'm never hungry but I always have that I need a snack mentality late at night and if I can't go without I at least try to do something more toward the healthy side. And sometimes I just don't care, I indulge in the dark side for one evening. Ladies keep doing what you do.

I just restarted keto about 20 days ago. I feel so good but you're right I have to keep it simple. I tend to do the keto chocolate mousse and eat it, then make it again the next day and eat it... I will do the egg fast then keep it simple Thank you for reminding me❤️I appreciate you so much !

I am on Day 2. restarting keto again. I had fell off last month I did keto for 3 weeks & down 12pounds. even though I fell off ... I didnt gain the weight back. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 so happy !!! Excited to stick with it. This time around. I fell off, because I was discouraged. Because I wanted the weight to drop faster. And I kept getting bloated. I think the reason why I kept bloating, was because of the heavy chia seed pudding. Anyways. Love the videos y'all do 🎉❤

You guys are always so timely. I fell off the bandwagon so many times over the past year that I have plateaued for most of last year. But... I have been getting back up again and last month I did a 3 day fast hoping to kickstart it again but that was probably too sudden because I was still cheating after that. Last week I said 'I can't bother y'all's with this thing. I guess I have to just acknowledge that I'm gonna cheat.' But this week I said after Easter I will be in earnest so listening to this is very beneficial to me at this time. Thank you.

I am in a few groups that keto shame people on even little things like having a coke zero. I like that you are being real. I lost weight on keto. Did great. Went to England and ate all the things, got home and couldn't get back on good enough to lose back what I did. I think I ruined my metabolism. But I am keto or low carb because my crohns is just better on it.

Took my wife backpacking and I had made keto backpacking meals and we were awesome on the trip. Came out of the trip and spent the last day in a Hotel soaking in the hot-tub resting the muscles and dinner came around. She got a salad, I ate a 12" pizza...... I was RAVENOUS, but I promised myself I would keto the next meal. Got up had breakfast with Eggs, sausage and bacon and doing that really helped me get back on track.

I already know if I taste ANYTHING that remotely resembles grains it will take me months to get back to keto. Even a no calorie sweetener can set me up to be off of Keto. One of my favorite things that will keep me technically keto is shredded Colby cheese on top of a LOT of sour cream with pace salsa. This is soo high in calories but it stops me from going off the deep end.

I really love your show. I've been on Keto for 2 years. I go on a cheat weekend just about once a month. Probably more than i should. I wouldn't usually get sick or anything, but it is now affecting me. I find that I definitely don't want to overdo it. If I do overdo it I do feel yucky now. My taste seems to be changing too. Some foods are way too rich for me now. Well, one thing I can just say about doing a cheat weekend is definitely shop before you do your cheat weekend and stock up with foods that are keto so you don't male the excuse to do am extra day because you forgot to shop or you are too busy or something. I've made that mistake a few times. Another thing I always do that helps get me back in ketosis faster is I start by doing a 3 to 4 day fat fast. I'll have something like 2 eggs for lunch as and a small bowl of cream spinach. That always helps me.
