Mackie ProFX12v3+ Audio Mixer | Setup Tutorial & Walkthrough

My ProFX12v3+ just came out of the box this afternoon. I am fortunate to have watched this video before I've even plugged the unit in and turned it on. I have an acoustic duo with my wife and we've been using the classic Mackie DFX-12 for many years. I have two of them, and one had a channel fail during COVID and the backup had one fail just last week. This unit is an upgrade for us, and I hope to use it to its full capacity, and also branch out into some home recording for some original song projects. Thank you. I hope to absorb all this info and more from your other videos.

Hi there thanks for the video very useful, but I have got some problems with mine I can't hear any effects in my headphones I did try everything, is it supposed to be like this or I should hear everything?! Because I was trying to find the best effort for my voice but only I hear them on speakers not in my headphones a part from this I can hear everything else in my headphones tho ?

Hello! My family and I enjoy watching your videos. I have a question if you don't mind. I have a berhringer 1204usb and I connect it to my smart phone with a USB cable from the mixer to the phone and I get good quality sound when I record music and down load it to KZbin. However I'm not too satisfied with the picture size on the phone. I would like to use a more professional camera such as the canon EOS r50. My question to you is if I can connect the audio mixer to the canon camera as if I was using my smart phone and get the good stereo quality sound? Thank you I will appreciate your advice.

Same scenario here. I need the pfl, subgroup, Bluetooth and faders instead of knobs would be nice. The usb interface works surprisingly well and you won't spend hours trying to set it up - plug and play on my Mac.

As for the effects. Can you assign different effects for each channel or are you stuck with the effect chosen across all channels?

Great video. I have the ProFX16v3, but would love to upgrade to the V3+. They haven’t released the V3+ on the 16, 22 or 30 though. Also wondering if you can do an FX video like you did for the V3 but with the new GigFX+ effects and parameter options. Keep up with the great videos and thank you. 😊

My only question is when I try to listen what I have recorded, should I connect the headphones to the mixer or to the Mac directly? I tried to listen from the headphones output of the mixer and I can’t hear anything. I was wondering if I am doing something wrong. Thanks again!

when you connected the main speaker and the offsite recorder to their respective outputs does this automatically become a stereo signal or will the board treat it as two mono outputs?

im thinking of getting this for my local church setup... but i need to plug in an ipad into a snake which has xlr inputs only. How best to do this? Should I bypass the snake and go straight to the mixer with the usb connection? Can you get a cable at least 15m long for this?

Hello : I have a little mixer question for ya. I have a small mixer for my live performance percussion playing. The mixer has fx but once you choose an effect, that’s what goes to all the channels and you can only control how much or how little. I need to put multi fx on all channels and on some of the channels, I need different fx than the other channels. How can I achieve this ? Is there a live performing mixer that can do this or do I need to chain pedals together and connect to the aux send of the mixer ? ( I need a small mixer that can handle my 6 mic inputs.) I would love to be able to put a simple reverb on say…my congas, but then a flanged wilder reverb on my timbale. Those are the kind of things I’m trying to achieve while playing live. Thanks for your help !

Hi, I have the profx12v3 and am struggling with routing to the usb interface and blend knob. I don’t have long before I can’t return it to the music store. What is the function of the control room/phones button? You don’t mention this, but I have got into a usb driver mess and don’t find it as easy to use as my current profx12v.

Loving my ProFX12v3+ so far. For some reason, although I'm following your "Bluetooth Setup" section steps identically, I cannot get any audio out either on PFL or main L-R output, and nothing on the monitor LEDs/levels, or headphones, after pairing is successful. Anyone have ideas what I can check? Thanks!

I’ll be refering to the mixer in the video specifically, should be very similar for any other mixer. For the acoustic guitar you should use one of the 2 combo inputs (first 2 inputs) with hi-z enabled. 2 mics can be connected to any channel with xlr input, but preferrably in channels 2, 3 or 4 because they have a compressor knob. Keyboard should be connected to a stereo channel, so either 5/6, 7/8 or 9/10 using both line inputs on those channels for left and right outputs of your keyboard. Hope that helps :)

Can you please make a video on the Yamaha MG 12 XU teaching how to run an in ear monitoring mix where I can hear the metronome and backing tracks and other instruments without having the metronome come through the main speakers. What cables would I need to get? Where should I plug in my headphones so that the metronome is not only on the left but coming out on the left and right? I’m a worship leader and I know so many other worship leaders would appreciate an answer. Thank you for your videos!

You can use a group and connect it to the headphones or use the aux out, sending only the track with the metronome to group 1-2 and NOT the ST (buttons on the right of the fader) or just higher the volume of aux1 from the blue knob, then the main knob at the end of the blue knob line, and connect the headphones on the first left jack on the aux exits, you will hear the metronome in ear

Bluetooth is mono tho, i believe. My experience was that only one channel from my phone was being processed by the bluetooth receiver, and pumped into two channels of output. But the vocals were missing because it was an old school mix with vocals only in one channel. Can anyone confirm this?

Никому не рекомендую этот пульт. Блютуз у него двусторонний только при первом включении, выходной эквалайзер работает некорректно и мало влияет на настройки хоть какого-нибудь выхода, а интерфейс USB Tupe-C оказался пустышкой - даже тестер показал, что в нём нет жизни ни на вход на него при нажатой кнопке его канала, ни на выходе. Это гнездо просто не работает. Буду возвращать это чудо китайского производства.

I like my Behringer qx better the mackie effects sound bad and the mic preamps don’t even seem as good, thin sounding I get weird feedback off my Sennheiser EWD mics as well when I gain them up too much I don’t know not real happy with it I hate I have no slider and mute for my monitor And when I mute a mic it also mutes the monitor it seems
