I use a Samson R31S with a balanced connection to my PC, but here in South Africa we have a lot of power issues. This means I had to resort to getting a balanced connection to 3.5 adaptor for my MacBook, but I also have to run it through a cheap little USB dongle. Does anyone know could this XLR to USB cable works well in AKG D5 microphone? (Please answer me🥺)
@marvycongringo4 жыл бұрын
@ Kettner Creative, Your information about the Cord only working for one type of Microphone, is confusing to me. That cord will work fine for any type of Microphone if you have the correct setup such as a Mixer and Phantom Power, (preferably a USB Mixer). The cord works fine. You would have to run the Microphone into a Mixer. Then from the Mixer into the Computer with the cord. If the mixer has no Phantom Power, you would have to use an external Phantom Power for the Microphone then into the mixer. Just plugging any Mic, Piano, Guitar, instruments, etc, straight into the computer (with a Preamp or a Sound Interface) gives you NO control of those instruments. The Mixer gives you the control of the Microphone, Guitar, Piano, etc, Volume and Gain. Then you can control the volume being be too low or clipping. You can also add Effects like Reverb, Chorus, Compression, etc, and EQ, like, Bass, Mids, Treble (if the mixer has effects). Think of the Sound Interface, simply as a soundcard. (It converts the digital signals into audio or analog sound). Hope this helps, Peace!

The Rode PodMic has a similar gain requirement to the SM7B (just a little less). I would recommend using an audio interface or audio mixer with it.
