I found one improvement for the front face, you don't have to break the tabs. Once you have the top screws out, you can take the screws out of the bottom of the machine and then the front face pulls downward (towards the bottom) and the clips release.

Thanks Shawn (and Thought Cloud) you tip allowed me to take the front off in about 10 seconds. While pulling the front downward with one hand (use thumb and forefinger on the front edge of the bottom) you use your other hand's fingers to lift up the top edges where you had removed those 2 screws.

I cringed each time a knife was used to pry things open in this video. After taking apart my Keurig 2.O K200 that was leaking from the bottom, I concluded that the only difficult piece to remove is the black collar (3:54). I just happened to have a plastic prying tool and put it in the back space (4:11). By leveraging the tool, the back separated enough from the collar to get screwdrivers in and do the same as the video. The silver piece (1:22) is easy to take off with no damage. Just use follow brighamyoung7301's advice. Once the two screws are removed at the top (5:18), ensure the top is no longer flush in the space and pull the front down - that is how to not break the plastic tabs as the front is designed to slide up to lock it in place. Overall, 8 screws hold the Keurig 2.0-200 together, but the outside plastic slides to make a perfect fit. In my water leak situation, the plastic tee deteriorated (similar to what curtwelch discussed below). Replacing it with a 1/4 irrigation barb tee ($3 for a 10 pack at your hardware store) restored the Keurig back in operation with no water leak. If I have to replace my other Keurig's tee, then I would consider getting a pressure relief valve added but the $5 cost for something similar with $20 shipping is not worth it right now.
@WayneB274 жыл бұрын
Thanks for posting this video, it was very helpful to me. On our Keurig the leak was caused by corrosion on the water boiling unit(the silver tank situated deep in the centre of the unit. My girlfriend ran some descaler through it and it started to leak profusely. The descaler must have dissolved the corrosion and scale that was keeping the small perforations closed that were above the chrome band that holds the water level probe and temperature sensor.. The unit was 5 years old and we live in an area with hard water. Ended up buying a new one as the part needed wasn't available.

Hey dude, awesome Job, thanks for going for broke, charging in and just doing it! YOU'VE Inspired me to figure out a better way to the (2X) 'Plug' Removal problem; (the ones under the Tank on both sides, that cover those two Screws, etc.) I found an appropriate Sized Plastic 'Screw Anchor for Drywall' to 'Hot-Glue' the ('Head') End of that to the Top Surface of each of the Plugs, (one at a time) allowing the Hot Glue to harden for about a minute, before lifting up on them and 'Viola' they pop right out, no prying needed...!!! Worked really well...! You just 'Peel' off the Hot Glue when you're done, no muss, no fuss!!! I'd Send you a Pic of it, but IDK who - where to Send it to...?!? (BTW: Those 'Plugs' DO stay put in the Kurig Machine B/C they've got a 'Taper to the Side' of them which allows them to be 'Pressed - In' purposely to stay and also not to Leak either...! -jbm)

@CurtWelch4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, never would have figured this out without your video. These things are not made to be easy to open for sure. Your air pump never should have had water in it rusting the unit. I think your actual leak was higher up and it was dripping down into the air pump. My leak was the pressure relief valve just above the air pump. It has 4 hoses attached to it and the plastic just gave way and cracked open. So when making a cup of coffee, half the water was pushed down these air tubes and leaked all down through the unit and past the air motor. Did you try running the unit when open and seeing what was leaking? I doubt that replacing the air pump motor is going to fix your problem.
@amanitamuscaria45594 жыл бұрын
This turned out to be the same problem as my parent's keurig had. The little 4-way t-connector had pretty much turned to powder probably due to the temperature changes. I ended up replacing it with a standard brass aquarium t-connector for air hoses. I connected the line from the motor to the chamber and the last line to the motherboard. The line I bypassed is the one that leads to the back which I think is a pressure relief valve. I figured if it ends up 'exploding' it'll go in the trash. It's been a couple months and it's holding up fine.
@CurtWelch4 жыл бұрын
@@amanitamuscaria4559, mine turned to powder as well. The plastic deteriorated oddly. The rest of the system and hoses were fine. Just that one part. And I've used mine nearly every day for years so it held up well, just odd that one piece deteriorated like that. I was thinking of doing the same thing and just replacing it with a T connector like that. Home depot might even sell the right sized connector. Decided to just buy a new Kuerig for $80 instead. Yeah, that extra hose leading straight up is just a pressure relief valve. If the needle going into the pod gets clogged with dried coffee grounds it could build up too much pressure when pumping or maybe just from steam pressure when heating the water. But the worse I would expect to happen is that one of the hoses would pop off a connector from the pressure. I don't see any real danger to the operator, other than water all over the electronics. I contracted Keurig's support department to see if they sold parts. They didn't. There are some people on eBay selling parts but they were sold out of this part. Clearly, they don't have access to parts. They just get old machines, take them apart, and sell the parts. One vendor had a collection of parts that included the missing valve, but he was asking something like $30 plus $10 or more for shipping. Wasn't going to pay $40 for the part when I could get a brand new Keurig for $80 at Target. I got their low-end K-Classic and I'm very happy with it. NIcer than the stupid 2.0 with the touchscreen in my view. Just hit a button to turn on. It turns itself off if unused for 2 hours so less energy waste. One button to start to brew instead of the 3 I had to hit with the touchscreen system. Doesn't have the strong brew option but I can live without that. Their next model up includes it for a few more bucks by I decided to go low end this time. Love the machines in general, use it every day.

Great video and comments. I am having the same issue, the 4-way connector completely deteriorated and fell apart. That is where it is leaking. Looks like they Kuerig knew the design flaw because they put a catch basin and funnel below it to send water to the base instead of all over the electronics. Planned obsolescence at its best! I call Kuerig for a replacement part, and they told me they do not sell those internal parts and to buy a new one. Funny because their waiting song phone playback talked about making recyclable cups and going green, yet I am supposed to throw out my broken machine because of a $0.50 part and buy new. Wonder corporate culture! :( Anyone know how to purchase this cheap part? Does advance auto part, autozone, lowes, home depot, sell something similar that can handle the heat?

@CurtWelch4 жыл бұрын
This guy is a no Keurig expert for sure. But to suggest these things openly with a "finger pinch" is absurd. I tell you, they do not. They are not MADE to be taken apart. That top chrome ring that holds it all together is made to snap on and never come off. You have to pry it from the INSIDE of the machine which is unreachable without a special tool and even then I'm 99% sure you can't get it off without breaking a few tabs. I thought his use of a picture hanger hook was very creative! I was considering making myself a tool to do it then just decided to brute force it off. Mass-produced machines today are so cheap there is very little justification for repairing them. The repair cost is almost always more than the cost of the machine so they aren't designed to be easy to take apart of easy to repair. They are designed to be easy to manufacture and then throw away. Mostly it's just us nerds that like to open and try to fix these things. This video made it possible for me to open this machine. I'm a smart guy but NEVER would have figured it out on my own until after I had broken most of the part trying to open it. it was very helpful to me that he made a video of the exact machine I have and needed to take apart!
