I have the K Duo plus machine. This video finally helped me figure out how to use my “K Cup Universal Reusable Filter”. You have to remove the existing pod holder ( I just reached in and pulled it out by the rim) and then remove the “plus” adapter from the K Cup filter holder then set it in the pod compartment with the arrow pointing toward the rear. Works great! 1 Tblsp. Columbia and 10 oz. serving button on “strong” gave me my perfect cup of coffee! No more wasted coffee for me. I love the carafe option too!

I don't bother with removing the basket, just open the single serve lid and place the middle fingers of both hands down into the cup holder. Put pressure on the holder from the inside on opposite sides and pull up.

Thanks for the great review. The instructions are really lacking. I did want to mention that you don’t have to open the filter basket to remove the pod holder. Opening from the top and grasping the two sides and pull up. The pod holder pops right out. Replacing it simple also. Align it correctly then push down with your fingers on the edge of the holder and it snaps back into place. No need to remove the filter basket. We received this as a gift so I am am retiring my old Keurig single cup brewer.

I almost took this back, as the instructions were not that great. I wanted only a couple of cups of coffee and ended of with a full pot. Next time was no different, weak, and watery. I am so glad I found your video! Excellent ! Demonstration spot on. By the way, I have the same strawberry mug ;)

Excellent review! You laid out the facts in a clear and concise manner. Our Keurig 2.0 is long in the tooth. We never use the carafe option because the 2.0 requires a pod change. What I want from Keurig is a 16 oz serving for the road. Thank you for the review and teaching me how to make a cup of coffee.

Awesome review!! Wouldn’t have felt comfortable using k-duo without this video. I was able pull the pod holder out without having to remove the filter basket side. Just open pod side and pull pod holder up, rinse and click back in place.

From Keurig write up to remove the k cup pod holder , grasp it from the top and pull it out . It will release. No reason to remove the drawer to get at the bottom. Review is very thorough , my unit is on order.

Nice review :) Directions with unit are unclear re single cup brewing. The 6, 8, 10 and 12 buttons convert to number of CUPS brewed when using carafe. HOWEVER -- they convert to number of OUNCES brewed when using K cup. This is noted nowhere in instruction sheet. Ha ha -- trial and error.

I just received my duo plus. This is an addendum to my post below. Both this reviewer and Keurig both say to remove the basket drawer and stick you finger through Intel under the k cup holder then push up with your finger while pulling up from the top. This is nonsense. To remove the k cup is simpler then I even thought below. Place 2 finger inside the cup along the side and apply pressure against the side while moving the fingers up. The K cup slides right out and it does it like it want to come out for you. I just couldn't believe they would design much less build a machine where it was so awkward to remove the k cup holder. When I first got this I tried to just pull it out from the top like on older units . It was a bit stiff and took a bit of pressure but it did come out so I put it back and after looking at it I put 2 fingers inside and kinda just slid my fingers up while pressing the side and it came out as easy as pie . I think this is the way it was intended but it got lost in the directions some where along the line.

Great review. 2 comments. Very poor design for the control center as you must almost be directly above the unit to seen clearly. Simple design fix would have been to angle the rear of the control panel upward so it can be seen head on. 2) I have a collection of reusable Keurig K cups and they will not fit this unit as they are taller than the compartment will allow. The pot and coffee grind holder feature is the major selling point.

I didn't have any trouble removing the pod holder from the top. Just pinch the side and pull up. The one flaw I have found so far--and this is minor--is that the carafe has a plastic lip around the inside of the top that prevents draining all liquid out. If you turn it upside down, there is still a small amount of liquid that is caught by the lip and doesn't drain.

Thank u so much for this video! The directions with this coffee maker are just plain awful! I've been a coffee drinker all my life and used so many different coffee makers, but even that didn't help me. The instructions on switching the reservoir said to SLIDE the base out but of course it is attached to the unit by tubes for the water. Then it says to rotate it...?? Even the pictures shows the base as sliding out....It did not say to SWING it over like you did! I just gave up. It also did not say to leave the carafe cover on when brewing. I have only used kcups since they were first on the market (this is my 3rd upgrade for a smaller kitchen) and haven't used a carafe in 10+ years. Anyway, the light went off and it said it was done, so I pulled out the filter drawer to throw out the grinds and luckily, the unit was placed on angle away from me, because hot water came splashing out all over my hand and just missed the rest of me! I had to hold my hand under cold water for 5 minutes as I was burned! The basket was full of hot water. That was it for me. While sitting down after watching your video, I reread everything and it was not my imagination. It also says you can put items in the dishwasher, on top rack only, but I would NEVER follow their instructions and instead will listen to you and hand wash! Thank you so much for posting this....I cannot understand how they can make such a great product, and write such poor instructions. Maybe the person in charge of the instructions was also responsible for coming up with a way to remove the kcup holder to wash it! Looks like his/her handiwork! 😉
