Good point about the water tank on the Cuisinart. I use the old trick of running 1/3 vinager to water in the tank. Run halfway and stop the brew. Wait an hour or so then run the rest. Rinse through twice. A lot of work but the cone style filter and overall quality is worth it. Thanks for sharing.

We have a simple 12 cup cone style coffee maker & a separate Kureg, and wanted to combine so we tried the K-Duo Essentials. With a bit of trial, we could get a similar taste when making a pot, with the K-Duo however we had to use twice the amount of coffee. The flat bottom filter is a challenge in that way. The Cuisinart provides the space savings, the cone style basket and no long term penalty of burning through our coffee at twice the rate. Win-win!

Great video on comparisons. To thoroughly clean a coffeemaker you use Brew Rite coffeemaker cleaner. You used to be able to buy this at the grocery store but now, I can only find it on Amazon. I buy 4 little canisters at a time. You follow the directions on the bottle (you mix the powder with the water ) and then pour in the water dispenser of a coffee maker. Run a cycle. Let it sit in the carafe for an hour if it is heavily stained, then rinse 2-3 times with plain tap water (basically, run the coffeemaker at 12 cup setting 2-3 times). This method effectively cleans out the machine. Using Brew Rite prolongs the lifespan of any coffeemaker. I've been using it for over 25 years. One final tip: to prevent mold and mildew if you live in a humid climate, always flip up the lid of your coffee maker to air out completely after brewing a carafe. I also do that for my VitaCup k cup brewer (like a Mueller brand).

Hello. I've been sitting here watching several of your videos because we got the Keurig Duo for Christmas lol. So now I'm binge watching your channel!!😃 I have a question tho, with the Keurig are you able to use different brands of pods/k-cups, or do they have to only be Keurig brand? Great comparison. After seeing the scaling on the inside of the old (cut up) Cuisinart, I wonder how well the cleaning mode works when using white vinegar and water. What I understand from this video is that there isn't enough space to use a brush to clean the inside of the Cuisinart. I do like the "easy to clean" large reservoir feature of the Keurig. Both units seem to function fairly similar. But the Cuisinart looks fancier!

Yikes 😳. I just made coffee in my old Cuisinart. Lol. But I think it’s notable that you can’t brew less than six cups in the Keurig. I brew two cups every morning. I would like to add a K Cup option but not at the expense of my regular brew. So glad your video pointed out all the details. I’ll keep looking for the right combination. This is an excellent comparison between the two different coffee makers. I've been a Keurig customer for years now. I just received my new Keurig K-Duo Special Edition model on Friday. Unfortunately, my new Keurig simply does not work. The button controls do not respond the way they should, and I've yet to brew a cup or carafe of coffee with it. And, yes... I attempted to speak with someone with Keurig about this, but that representative was not helpful, and apparently, Keurig does not seem to have a clear return/replacement/refund policy. At this point, I'm out $170 until I can get this resolved one way or another. I'm still using my older Keurig 2.0, which works very well. Anyhow, not your problem.

The Cuisinart comes with a single serving capsule so you can use your own coffee and totally eliminate waste. A big plus to me. My Cuisinart also came standard with a gold filter basket. Another plus..

I just purchased the Cuisinart because my Keurig Duo went bad after one and half years. The Keurig worked good but when it went bad the coffee maker becomes a paperweight. Because it uses the one pump system. I contacted Keurig but due the fact it was out of warranty there was nothing they could do. The Keurig I owned had the stainless steal craft instead of glass so it didn't have a heating pad. I just was not happy that when it goes bad there is no option to use the coffee pot or cup size because of the one pump. So enjoy on which one you pick.

@@JustADad Hey btw I found these things sometimes called "appliance caddies". There are different types of designs of them but I personally like the ones that are telescopic. You put the coffee machine on it and it lets you pull the machine forward out from under the cabinet easily for access. There are wooden ones that look nice too. Some have wheels with a brake you squeeze to release, but I think the telescopic ones look the nicest.

One big issue you did not address is the descaling on both machines. Have had both, Keurig duo, thank goodness mine is still under warranty , but it takes good day to clean and on 3rd time descaling, machine can no longer pump and needs to be replaced. I am presentently waiting for my third replacement. I have read other reviews, basicly a flaw in Keurig design

Why does no one ever do a test of straight hot water only for those of us who like to have tea. Even the specs never say if they can just give hot water in single serving use.

Sorry about, with these I just assume that most people would not like the hot water because it would have left over coffee taste in it since you have to use the same parts that make the coffee. The Ninja Dual brew Pro has a separate hot water port that bypasses where you brew the coffee.

We went thru two keurigs in 6 months. The handle broke on the second one. Also the keurig water trickles out after some use. Done. Bought this SS15. To be determined but I can tell you, in our opinion don't buy a keurig.
