A very good transmitter is the radiolink rg6gs. It cost like 40-50€ and they are 6ch fully programable. They have gyro into the receiver and I thinks they are the same receivers that the cheap transmitter uses with that ultra fast response and long range FHSS modulation

Hey Kev, regarding the TRX4 competition - do you plan to check the YK4102 / Absima Sherpa? I would be pretty interested if that "out of the box" will beat the TRX4, especially if it comes to "your special driving skills" =P. From specs wise and price perspective - definitely. But no idea if that is so reliable as the TRX4 (spoken for the mechanical stock components only which are super durable - the electronics are s***). Regarding SC trucks, I think the Redcat Camo TT might be a nice successor to Slash or such. But not available in the EU (and uk ;P ) But overall, nice comparison. I currently "stay" with TRX as I love my 2wd Rustler and 2wd Slash (both BL), as well as the 4wd slash (BL) and the TRX4 (all electronics and servos upgraded / Axe 2300kv and GT5) and the SummitVXL. And if things damaged - the sparepart availability is given for years (maybe thats also the case with the other bigger companies in the meantime, but years back that was a mess) The TRX radios i dont like, so Flysky GT5 (and random names ..) is the best for the bug, even as the 15 bugs receivers already have gyro.

Do you recommend any 1:8 sized wheels for on-road? i got some really cheapos from CN, 4pcs on rims for like 13 bucks, they survived my 6S typhon without ripping apart (others failed / ripped apart after a while) but after just one battery they were almost done, rubbed off completely. didnt wanna spend 50..60 bucks for a set of dboots

I've had probably 20 different crawlers and the trx4 is the king you're totally right saying it's the best. Its the only rc I will hand the remote to any beginner because I know it won't break even with a brushless system (I run a hobbywing fusion). Oh and I just got a dumbo transmitter for my trx4 because my stock transmitter just stopped turning on lol 35$ for a 6 channel transmitter I had my doubts but now I want to buy more receivers so I can use it on more of my rigs.

hey kev from listening to you run the raminator if it feels sluggish i think you need to lean it out a little man. message rcsparks on youtube he really got his to open up nice. Love your waffling vids btw man! Also I think it would be awesome (and probably a great opportunity for revenue) would be to use banggood and start with a chassis and completely using parts thats are best bang for your buck that you can find, make an ultimate budget performance RC for each category of RC that you mention. I think it would be great and give you loads of content to create as well as cross over into your sponsor relationship with banggood. BTW I am always looking for a fun new job and love tech and rc's as well as have lots of tech and yt related skills lol you know if you ever need a new employee hahaha. Anyway I think I am going to finally take you up on the ebay course after watching your recent free vids on the other channel. I charge my LiPo right before I run it but I do it right beside my wooden cabinet. I should get one of those metal box too for my batteries..thanks for that tip kev! I am having tons of fun with my modified wltoys 12428..stock electronics but all metal gear and oiled shocks. Not really waterproof tho.

Great vid. Kev, please do an electric conversion on one of your Rovan 5b Bajas. I have a Baja flux and it's really cool. I agree with your assessment on the Xmaxx as the all round best, but I'd throw in a left of field honorable mention, say if the Xmaxx didn't exist. The 4x4 Traxxas Slash. I have both and as much as my boys and I love the Xmaxx, when its batteries have died we get the Slash out and find it as much fun and just a great car to boot.

Now I understand why my LiPo battery killed itself in a couple months. Had no idea how to look after it, actually expanded (obviously didn't use it after that). Plus I didn't have the best charger, just a wall to battery one. Haven't used LiPo batteries since.

There are various ways Lipos can go wrong. While certainly better than wood, Lipos still can get through metal. Concrete is the best, and once burning, don’t use water (Lithium will just happily continue to burn in water) , throw sand at them. I don’t know if it was Lipo or acid batteries, but a neighbor had their Porsche ruined by a battery exploding next to it.
