The fact that they think GSW wouldn't have won if you sub in Kawhi or Giannis for KD. After seeing GSW replace KD with Andrew Wiggins and still win is funny. @Caveman I can't say "NEED" let's say KD doesn't go there, assuming health warriors and Cavs still meet and instead of a warriors repeat maybe they split? Kyrie always hurt maybe he misses another one, it's alot of what ifs but I'm jus saying the warriors were always gonna be a top 3 title contender every year with or with out KD. And I'm a KD fan love his Twitter and his documentary, and I thought his move to GS was the strongest move but he was a luxury not a necessity.
@nazkidd1395

@Caveman Why bother recruiting him?? He is in a free agency. Talk about ammo anology, KD in free agency it's like the most powerful ammo on sale and got discount. You don't want it?? Adding KD make them unbeatable because Cavs have been using same formula since 2016, double-triple teamed Curry. That's why KD can score easily. Just watch more about Curry gravity video, you can see it.

@Caveman It's 50-50. KD is in FA, he can make his decision. Warriors got injured Bogut which for sure can't be healthy in 2017. HB, not getting any better. They need someone that can cover the paint as well someone that can shoot. KD available at that time and they approach him. So, 50-50.

KD loses a 3-1 lead in WCF to the 73-9 team then goes and joins them.. the team who was the defending champs. They did not NEED KD is what people just can’t wrap their brain cells around. They could’ve used a Star player.. didn’t need a top 3 player in KD to come and help them or the ridiculous thing ppl say which is ‘save’ them. Game 4 of the 2000 NBA Finals - Kobe on an injured ankle - carried the Lakers to an OT win when Shaq fouled out of the game (going 4 -5 in OT on a heavy ankle sprain). And he was 12thin MVP Voting that year at age 20-ish. How many 20 year old's have finished top 15 in MVP Voting? It's a short list. Kobe would average 35 in this era. Kobe was a MONSTER. 46 points and 16 rebounds in WCF against a 60 win team in Sacramento at age 21!!!!! WHO does that???? How many players in NBA HISTORY have ever been 4 points and 4 rebounds away from a 50 point 20 rebound game in a CONFERENCE FINALS GAME. Kobe dropped 45 points on Duncan AND Robinson. At 21/22. KD needs another title to HAVE a legacy. He has a top 10 all time talent, can't dispute that, but when it comes to legacy, he'll be remembered most for blowing a 3-1 lead to the 73 win Warriors and then joining them. Yes his numbers was great with the warriors, but it's easy to have great numbers with Steph and Klay on your team. Had he stayed with OKC, he would've had a legacy. Joining a historically monstrous 73-9 team is giving up and jumping into the bus as a passenger and the bus was already being driven on the championship track. Durant really changed nothing. KD just made things easier for the Warriors... He was like "invulnerability" code for them. KD was just a cherry on top. Durant and his legacy is still a work in progress. KD is one of the best scorers to ever play, no question about that. He is a great player, he is still and probably will be missing some of the intangible attributes the people on the NBA Mt Rushmore have... There are plenty of great players that have played and have had incredible impact on the court, but of the top of the top people, only a few of them have been able to lead and win on sheer willpower alone... And these guys are on Rushmore. LeBron, MJ, Magic, Kareem. Who knows what Bill Walton might have been if his legs didn't fail him? Who knows what the OKC might have been if they didn't trade Harden? Who knows if the Cavs ran it back with Kyrie that they wouldn't have won another one? If Jordan didn't retire after 98? If Shaq got injured like Zion? The game is highly competitive and the pool of talent keeps on getting wider and deeper with time. In these last playoffs, of the teams in the conference semifinals, you could see any of them eventually winning it all. Memphis was maybe a step behind the rest as they were so young, but it wouldn't have been a huge controversial upset if they did... Warriors have a shot again next year, but there are plenty of teams coming and I believe it will be even more competitive next year... It is a really good time to be a basketball fan! That's all I have to say! The social media interaction that you can have with these players too is unprecedented. I just hope they can find a way to help the players stay more healthy...

Warriors replaced KD with Wiggins in the starters GSW still wins the title relatively easily and we know how good the team was. Conclusion: KD made Warriors unbeatable. But with Kawhi, Giannis, PG or even Beal, Wall, Butler, they would have won the titles. Now, Giannis 2021 and Curry’s 2022 champion make KD look like a 🤡 If KD end his career without another title, he will be ranked somewhere around Dirk (18-20) Solution: KD can find a way joining Celtics this summer……..

But here's the problem though Slick, you say KD made the Warriors unbeatable. I agree. But if KD made them unbeatable, any other halfway decent player would have still at least made them a very good team. Which is enough to contend and potentially win a championship, like they just did. So at the very least the question becomes, if KD doesn't go to GS, does he even have a championship to begin with. Steph has proven he can win without KD. Can KD win without Steph. Time will tell, but if Steph wins another championship and KD doesn't... 😅

Totally agreee!!! Everyone gets hung up in the fact that he made them unbeatable but that isn't really the point. All rings are not the same and I certainly don't have any. But all the champions talk about is the adversity and the journey they had, that made the ring so worth it. That adversity is not only on the court but off it of course. And u can actually credit KD for balling with all the of the court pressure. Because with the move from OKC it was immense. And I think that is actually what he wanted. We know KD isn't a fan of the offcourt stuff and just wants to hoop. The GSW situation allowed him to do that. Simply just do what he loves which is playing basketball at the highest level. The problem is that for all the fans the adversity on the court is what we can see and some if not most probably respect the most. On the biggest stage with two sort of evenly matched teams on the court. Which superstar can propel their team to victory. For example this year with GSW and Boston. And u don't get that with KDs finals wins. U get a team that is so superior to the other teams. That most B to B+ SFs could win with. And when all this nuance is brought into the convo u cant value his rings the same as most others. Because at least on the court it was just easier with all the talent on that team

(If you’ve got 5 mins to read, then buckle up!) Here’s the issue with KDs legacy… Within 10-20 years after he retires, he’ll start sliding down the GOAT list like a lubed-up slide, and he’s wearing socks and a wet bathing suit. He’ll fall out of the top-10, if he even makes it, and he’ll likely fall out of the top-15 all-time because what is KD really? A great scorer. That’s it. He’s not “great” at anything else. He’s solid elsewhere, but what is he? A great scorer. Just look at Kareem’s fall from No.1 all-time. How far has Kareem fallen down the list of GOATs since the offensive boom of the 2000’s+2010’s+2020’s, even though he statistically ISSSSSS the greatest scorer of all-time? He lost #1 to MJ. He lost, likely, #2 to LeBron. He’s still top-5, but people need to argue for him - someone who was once devoutly considered the GOAT - to remain in the top-3, if not the top-5. HOWWWWW KD won will always be disputed by those who matter, those who really know. No one will ever forget or forgive that he abandoned OKC for GS and won on a team that needed very little to regain a title. I agree that it’d take a special player to fill all the gaps left in GS after they went 73-9. But Acho is right. If PG3 or Kawhi went to GS the year after they went 73-9, they would’ve absolutely still won the title, if not titles, they won with KD. KD put them over the top. That’s all. He put them over the top in a way that, yes, no one but LeBron would’ve put them over the top. But that’s the problem. That’s why there will always be scrutiny toward his legacy. Unless he wins on a team that’s truly HIS, he will never have a truly validated legacy. OKC Kev and Post-OKC Kev have 2 different legacies. That is indisputable. They absolutely do. And the final question becomes, well, how much of the story do the stats tell? Anyone with any decent basketball background and knowledge will instantly agree that KD’s success as a GSW was made easy by the pieces around him. That team was already so dominant that the only thing that would’ve hurt KD’s legacy more than winning is losing. If he went there and didn’t win the way he did, his legacy would never achieve him a top-20 GOAT vote. The facts are, even though he had to work for it and there’s no physical asterisk, KD took the easy way out. Lastly, consider this: What did Steph and GS do post-KD? Dealing with players leaving and major injuries, they built a team and within 3 years, won another title. They may not have won the titles they did with KD, but they would’ve won again, as they’ve proven now, and it wouldn’t have taken them 5+ years to do it. Trust me, they miss the ease that KD brought to the game, but they don’t miss KD. See, Steph changed the game for the better. His deep shooting has made versatility an absolute must at every position. It has even given six-men longevity that, aside from Manu G. and Jamal Crawford, few players ever achieved coming off the bench. If you can come in and knock down threes, scoring 9-15 points in only a few shots and a few minutes, you’ve got a job for life in the NBA. Steph has forced defenders to come to the perimeter and beyond. He’s created a whole new element to the game that no one has ever done in the same way. Yes, there have been great shooters and dead-eye 3-shooters, but none like Steph. His presence alone opens up the floor in ways the NBA has never seen before. On the other hand, KD has not changed the NBA for the better. He has solidified the era of ring-chasing, and if not the era, then the time within one’s career that ring-chasing becomes a must and loyalty goes out the door. Other than versatility on the offensive side and big men becoming shooters and moving between SG and PF, which he was not the founding father of, KD hasn’t left the NBA better than he found it. He’s solidified that there’s no need for loyalty anymore. If you can produce, you’ll find a home, and make a bag no matter what. LeBron played a hand in that too, but he did it, arguably, in the right way. He joined DWade and brought over Bosh and some role players and proved that a coach on the court can overtake the coach on the bench. See, he changed the NBA for the better with his influence and dominance. KD hurt the NBA, which is why he absolutely needs to validate his legacy by changing it.

If y’all think anybody on the All NBA team couldn’t have went to golden state and did exactly what Kevin Durant did, players have different game styles but along with Steph the players would have still won 2 championships! How can KD get so much credit for golden state rings but now without a player like Steph he has not been to the finals in his 2 healthy years with Kyrie and James harden. And Steph has now won another ring without a mvp or top 75 player get real. Kevin Durant good and an all time scorer but he not on Steph level no where near. So many players could have done what KD did, thanks Andrew Wiggins !

The main thing is that he doesn't have that measurement chip. We can't evaluate his greatness because the rings he won provided us no means of measuring how great he actually is. Every great needs that, otherwise they fall into the Clyde Drexler category of guys who won rings but we're not sure they could be the catalyst. KD's career outside of GSW is no better than Harden's.

The Golden State Warriors hate is strong with this panel. How could any unbiased observer say Golden State would not have won those two titles with a dozen other player in Durant's place? Not just Kawhi or Giannis, ....I mean not only did GS win the title this year with Wiggins in KD's place the Warriors won the 2019 Western Conference without KD and would have won the 2019 title without KD if Klay Thompson didn't go down with an Achilles injury.

@@AC-ns4gu With George instead of KD the outcomes would be different. I’m not saying they wouldn’t I’m saying with George they would’ve been heavy favorites to win still. Also the team would’ve played completely different with him then they did with KD. They let KD play how he wanted. In OKC he hardly brought the ball up the court. He got so much mid post ups where he could easily get double teamed. Golden state let him be the player he wanted. In golden state he had such a light load. Close to no double teams either. He was playing with a lot of people would consider 3 of the top 15 players in the league at that point. Have you ever played basketball where your team talent wise was clearly superior to the opponent? The pressure is much less. How has KD performed before and since he left golden state? I don’t know what more people need to see! If you’re not a leader after 5, 10 years, you ain’t picking up that attribute anytime soon. KD is a follower, not a leader. It’s a reason why he’s not recruiting to Brooklyn and it’s also another reason why he was the one who followed Kyrie to Brooklyn. Great offensive weapon, but he falls woefully short with the intangibles. He’s just not that guy.

I think Acho's argument is flawed... Because I think there's teaming up with a former MVP and teaming up with an MVP caliber player. D-Wade... MVP Caliber Kobe... MVP Caliber (before he won it) Paul Pierce... MVP Caliber So I'm glad he made the argument because now I'm like... Is Kyrie Irving an MVP caliber player? If not, KD's chances to win go down a lot unless they get another all-star or Ben Simmons can snap out of it.

All negated by being shut down by the Celtics in the first round. Plus, shutting down KD shouldn't have been that effective because the Nets had Kyrie. Kyrie and KD was supposed to show the world that they are the greats above Tatum and Brown but they failed miserably. The only way they can recover is to run it back and get the Celtics again in the playoffs and absolutely demolish them. KD's legacy so far is that he couldn't get rings and fmvps without Steph Curry's Warriors.

I think you have to consider how we would view KD today had he not won those two chips in GS. Also, bringing up LBJ to MIA as comparison is poor analysis. Miami was a first-round exit team for four years following their 06 chip whilst GS went to the Finals the previous two seasons and was literally coming off the greatest regular season record in NBA history. Think about how differently we would look at Harden or Westbrook if they had two chips right now. Their careers would be validated because they have rings. What's more, they would be glorified like KD as two of the greatest players ever, and like KD, they would be in many people's top 10, 15, or 20 players of all time lists. Again, had it not been for those chips in GS, I think we would look at KD very similarly to the way we looked at Melo during his prime - a phenomenal scorer that has yet to win a chip. I'm sorry but KD's chips with a team that - prior to his arrival - went to the Finals two years in a row (winning one) and suddenly return to the Finals and win just a few years after his departure is not legitimate.
