Kevin Durant has opened up about the Brooklyn Nets’ struggles this year, telling Chris Haynes that former head coach Steve Nash didn’t push the team hard enough. KD also fired back at those who criticized him as a leader, said he doesn't need to win another title to validate his legacy and ripped the Nets starting lineup. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe react to the latest KD news.

If you can’t beat them, join them.
@Iqnacio.
@Iqnacio. 2 жыл бұрын
@@SeyaRKO Thank you, I get that any Thunder fan would've been mad at him wherever he had gone cause he left your team, but the reason why the whole NBA criticized his decision is because he went to Golden State, if he had gone anywhere else most basketball fans other than Thunder fans would've probably been okay with it, especially after what we've seen from Russ in the recent few years, what made it bad is the fact that he went to a 73-9 team that had just gone to a game 7 of the finals by coming back from a 3-1 deficit against him, it's the fact that he took the easy way out while simultaneously ruining basketball for 2 years, 3 if he and Klay hadn't gotten injured. Even I as a Warriors fan probably saw the least games in a season those 3 years, didn't even see some of the playoff games, cause it was honestly boring, we all already knew they were winning so there was literally no point.

@johnhill762
@johnhill762 2 жыл бұрын
@@davidadaway6836 Sure KD isn't really a leader. He is a backup role player with god-like skill. Clearly he is a passive player who performs better with a leader leading the way (a lot like Scottie Pippen). He's a wing man. A Robin. And that's fine. That's who he is. He doesn't need to be Batman. But what he does need is a team with a Batman that he can back up (which we had with the Warriors). Having said that, it's not KD's fault that his team is falling apart around him. He's been holding this pathetic organization up - without complaining, without making a giant scene (like Harden and Kyrie), without saying much of anything (until now). Plain and simple, KD isn't a leader and that's okay. And it is not his fault the Nets are terrible. He's the only player doing his damn job 100% every night. He's even been getting tons of assist for his teammates the past 8 games or so. So no. The blame goes to a lot of other people in that organization - not just the best player on the team. That's stupid.

Out of all these discussions based around Steph, KD, and Lebron makes me realize how impactful that 2016 championship affected the NBA. I’m a casual fan so I don’t know all of the stats, analytics, games and such. More so than other championships, that 2016 one really changed everything. From KD joining the Warriors yet not truly getting the recognition like other MVPs. Then leading us down to the Nets situation, and him getting swept while Steph wins again probably made things worse. And Ben Simmons….I genuinely feel bad. We’ve seen sports stars and celebrities alike perform at high levels but the next day seem like they’ve never participated in that field before. The Netflix documentary on this team one day is going to be a must watch.

I spent years in leadership roles in the military and in the civilian world. My 1SG told me when I promoted that leaders: 'take responsibility and give credit'. In other words, when things go wrong, you are the 'man responsible' and when things go right, you build-up your subordinates. You don't take credit for yourself and you don't blame your peers or subordinates when things go wrong. If you do that, people will respect you not just as a leader, but as a man and your team will perform because of that respect. I've tried my best to follow that advice for my entire career and it has always done me well. That 1SG was a simple guy with a GED and no college degree, a vocabulary that was mostly curse words and who left the army to be a mail clerk, but he understood something that KD, for all his wealth/fame/fortune, will never understand.

From the games since Nash got the boot, KD seems to trust Nic Claxton and Yuta Watanabe more than the others, though they don't play at a superstar level, but they can contribute to both ends better than rest of the teammates, and Yuta's value is probably the highest in supporting KD. He is the bulldog, shows up on both ends all the time, and blocks well especially when a teammate gets beat on the drives - DeRozan, AD, Caruso, Halliburton, Taj Gibson, Porzingis have been victims of his blocks and defense. And he's an efficient shooter, just doesn't shoot in volumes. The Nets were loaded with score-first guards since last year, and when they got beat by the Celtics in the playoffs lacking defense, I couldn't understand why the Nets didn't trade a at least one of the score-first guards to get a big.
