This game really opened the eyes of a lot of people to just how good this guy was. People didn't get to see him play that much. The Wolves were hardly ever on national TV and they were always out after the first round in the playoffs. People knew he was a good player but he really became "KG" throughout the country in this game.

It didnt last long, but for a very short amount of time, Kevin Garnett was the best basketball player in the world. Not Kobe, not Shaq, not McGrady, not Iverson, not Duncan. No one.

It's only fitting that Kevin Harlan announce this game, the best of Kevin's career, since he was the former announcer for Timberwolves games. P.S. I am posting this comment on the day that KG got traded BACK to Minnesota. He is easily the greatest Timberwolf to play for that organization, and I hope he retires as a Minnesota Timberwolf.

I remember watching this jumping out of my seat when Webber almost tied it. But signature KG game. Dude did everything in this game grabbed a shot of out midair, crossed over Webber, made a 3, 32 and 21 with 5 blocks and 4 steals. One of the most complete games I've ever seen in a crucial game 7 on his birthday! Classic performance!

unreal, can still remember watching every single twolves game back then. I was like 9 years old lol. Pretty soon the target center will be packed like it was then and cheering for KAT and Wiggins. People forget how great Wolves fans were back in that time period. Give us a winning team and the playoffs and we will pack that thing and make it loud again.

God when NBA players used to play for the pride of their team instead of just the money. 1. Iverson taking a bad team to the NBA Finals and winning Game 1. 2. Jason Kidd taking a bad team to back to back NBA Finals. 3. The Spurs playing end to end basketball to win 3 times in 5 seasons. 4. The 2004 Pistons playing the best defence in NBA Playoff History to win. 5. The Lakers coming back from 30 down in the 4th to beat the Blazers in 7. 6. The 2006 Miami Heat coming from 0-2 down to win in 6. 7. MJ's 'flu game' up 2-0, Jazz win games 3 & 4 & Jordan drops 38 in Game 5.

Garnett's block on Stojakovic at 2:47 is just plain nasty. Glad that KG went to Boston and got at least one ring. He deserved it. Hopefully he'll get at least one more. As a Reggie Miller fan, even one ring is great, but I still think his career would be an understatement of his abilities if he doesn't get another ring. Kids in the future won't be able to look back and remember just how dominant he was.

Kevin Harlan announcing that game for TNT is fitting, after all he was responsible for naming KG "The Big Ticket" on account of KG being able to sell the target center out singlehandedly. I remember watching many Wolves games that year. The battles with Sacramento and San Antonio...ahh the good old days. What a travesty that the Wolves haven't retired his jersey yet! The moment he retired...first home game last year should have been a special ceremony for KG and the man who was responsible for taking a chance on a high school kid... and his coach for the first 8.5 seasons Flip Saunders. WTF Glen Taylor, make this happen now!!!!

Not trying to be a kill joy or anything because this was an all-time classic performance by Garnett and nobody can say otherwise. I'll just add this. As good as the T'Wolves were that season, if Webber had played all year for the Kings instead of only 17 games before the playoffs, then this series would have ended up much differently. Kings probably beat them in 6. Hell, despite this all world performance by KG on the "better team" and on their home court...the Kings still almost beat them. Came down to one 3 pointer that lipped out or they go to overtime and then who knows! I give the road team the edge in that situation because of the made shot at the buzzer to get there while gaining serious momentum and the mounting pressure on the home team. Was an awesome series can still remember watching it intensely. Thanks for the share!

Just as a general basketball principle, post players are of the utmost importance. This is because they affect the game on both ends of the court more than wing and guard positions. So I will always take a dominant center/PF over a high-scoring wing or guard. To be fair, LeBron adds a lot to the game with his assists and rebounding. But so did Garnett! That's why it's an interesting comparison; both players were triple-double experts (KG in his prime). But overall, Garnett has the edge.

I'll admit that 2004 Garnett was just as efficient and dominant as 2003 Duncan (both their respective peaks). KG gives you ball handling, outside shooting, assists, and was the rebound king in 04. TD gives you the best low-post offense in the league (perhaps ever), great rebounding, shot blocking, runs the offense from the post, and excellent ability to drive or shoot a bank shot from long range. It's pretty subjective, but I think Duncan's skills are more "valuable" for winning championships.

KG is so much better than TD, he gives you a larger defensive presence. He can fire up a team and make them play defense. He molded Kendrick Perkins, helped Paul pierce up his defensive game along with rondo. He may not like being the lrad scorer, but he will if he has to. You can count on him to make great plays at any time. He can get you stops, points, assists, and rebounds even at his late age

Duncan was the best player on 4 championship teams and their main offensive weapon and defensive anchor. Kg was the 2nd best player on the celts in '08. While KG had a good regular season, there was no mistaking Pierce was the main man for the celts in the playoffs that year. KG has always had more of a pippen/mchale/robin mentality and was never completely comfortable being the 1st option on offense and it always showed in big games (aside from this game 7 vs kings).
