A party to a crime. What is most shocking is he had no idea why they were chasing Ahmaud, he just decided to join in!! He yelled "y'all got him", then got in his car and joined the Lynch mob. He didn't even know the McMichael's, he said he recognised Gregory McMichael from around the neighbourhood, but didn't know him. He had no idea WHY they were chasing Ahmaud, but thought it was a good idea to join in. He proceeded to run Ahmaud into a ditch, pin him with his vehicle, as he said - Quote "I got him in good', he even tried to put the blame on the victim by saying Ahmaud tried to 'get in his vehicle', Ahmaud was running for his life. he was exhausted, every time he stopped to try and take a breath, the vehicles would come up on him. Bryan then basically boxed him in and herded him into the McMichaels, weaving from side to side to ensure there was no escape!!! Then he said the cop, 'should we have been chasing him' with a laugh at the end of that sentence!! - They terrorised him and then executed him and get this - Mr Bryan had absolutely no reaction to the 3 gunshots, not a gasp was heard, not an OH MY GOD, nothing!!!! THAT IS HOW INNOCENT YOUR CLIENT IS, MR GOUGH!!!! The jury got it right!!!

What’s really sad which everything regarding this case is sad this isn’t the first time that this has happen the difference is that those men were caught. It’s pretty messed up that the police was going to cover this up but once the video came out it was a open and shut case. I am glad ahmaud fsmiky got closure and I hope the family wins there civil suit against the police and the city…. No matter the amount of money will bring ahmaud back but I hope this teaches people of certain races “no one is above the law”

It's true that Arbery had been trespassing but trespassing is a misdemeanor, not a felony under Georgia law. Not to mention, Arbery was unarmed, which they knew, yet they went after him 3 on 1 with a shotgun. Which suggests their true intention was premeditated murder, not just questioning Arbery, as the defense claimed. 2010 Georgia Code TITLE 17 - CRIMINAL PROCEDURE CHAPTER 4 - ARREST OF PERSONS ARTICLE 4 - ARREST BY PRIVATE PERSONS § 17-4-60 - Grounds for arrest O.C.G.A. 17-4-60 (2010) 17-4-60. Grounds for arrest A private person may arrest an offender if the offense is committed in his presence or within his immediate knowledge. If the offense is a felony and the offender is escaping or attempting to escape, a private person may arrest him upon reasonable and probable grounds of suspicion.

A crucial legal question was whether the three defendants were trying to make a lawful citizen’s arrest. The relevant law is only two sentences long: A private person may arrest an offender if the offense is committed in his presence or within his immediate knowledge. If the offense is a felony and the offender is escaping or attempting to escape, a private person may arrest him upon reasonable and probable grounds of suspicion. In an independent analysis of the case, lawyer Andrew Branca argues that the two sentences anticipate two different scenarios. The first sentence is about minor offenses, such as shoplifting; citizens may not step in unless the crime was “committed in their presence or immediate knowledge.” In the case of a felony, a citizen can act on “reasonable and probable grounds.” Prosecutor Linda Dunikoski tried to combine the two sentences, insisting that the crime for which citizens could make an arrest had to be a felony committed “in their presence.” She noted that trespassing - the only crime of which Arbery is known to the defendants to have been committed - did not justify citizen’s arrest, claiming that detention was lawful only in “emergency situations” when a crime is happening “right then and there.” Mr. Branca notes that when a law is ambiguous it must, under the doctrine of “lenity,” be interpreted in the favor of a defendant, which would mean the men had the right to arrest Arbery merely for trespassing. Judge Walmsley did not clear up the ambiguity, and seemed to side with Miss Dunikoski, telling the jury that anyone who is the target of an unjustified citizen’s arrest “has the right to resist the arrest with such force as is reasonably necessary.” Miss Dunikoski followed up this advantage: “You [Travis McMichael] can’t claim self-defense if you are the unjustified aggressor,” she said. “Who started this? It wasn’t Ahmaud Arbery.” Clearly, it is absurd to say that Travis McMichael forfeited all rights to self-defense. Was he legally obliged to let Arbery beat him to death? No matter what led up to the fight over the shotgun, at some point is could be reasonable to see Arbery as the aggressor. The jurors have not explained their verdict, but if they accepted the prosecution’s argument, there was never any hope for an acquittal. In her closing arguments, Miss Dunikoski made the outrageous claim that the defendants chased Arbery “because he was a black man running down the street.” There had been no testimony to suggest race had anything to do with the decision to give chase, and it is impossible to believe the McMichaels would have jumped into their truck if Arbery had just been “a black man running down the street.”

Roddy Bryan’s attorney can motion for a new trial, but I strongly doubt he’ll get one. Mr. Bryan clearly instigated the whole thing and was getting his rocks off by doing so. The only thing he did right was videotape the incident which really outlined what really took place as far as them chasing down Mr. Arbery and subsequently killing him. I guess they’ve never seen a jogger who happened to be black in their neighborhood. They took that 25 year old man’s life because he was black. Justice was served for Mr. Arbery in that courtroom on November 24.

Travis's lawyer said Gough tried from the very start to work a deal with prosecution, trying to get a plea deal for his testimony and from what he said he was telling them he wasn't. They realised very quickly and seems to be why it wasn't a strong joint defence. Prosecution had enough evidence without Roddie testifying so were not interested in a plea deal, even when closing arguments were under way he was still trying to get a deal and then claims he is wrongfully convicted, was just a witness and will be released on appeal. Not a chance, he blocked Arbery numerous times, hit him with the truck and admitted it to police. Greg McMichael was on jail calls saying to his mate don't worry about Roddie he is an ally. Gough is a fool.

They had probable cause to detain him for theft. Ahmaud was a thief and in the two years prior to his death he was known as The Jogger as he would enter into stores and run out with stolen goods. Ahmaud also suffered from schizophrenia and used drugs.

The word racist has been used so much in about the last 6 yrs till it means nothing. And you all go on about them using the n word when black people use it multiple times a day. Kevin Gough is a buffoon of a trial attorney. He delivered what has to be among the least effective closing arguments in a high profile case. He must think the jury is stupid: ▪︎ His attempts at self deprecating statements are transparently manipulative. ▪︎ He purposely finds the most number of words to say the simplest things. ▪︎ His description of his client is almost entirely irrelevant. ▪︎. His "Let me take you back in time..." pitch and related quips are entirely irrelevant, annoying and wasteful if the jury's time. ▪︎ His "We lawyers have been taught to never say this...what we say is not evidence...," which nothing but a restatement of what the judge has said innumerable times and surely doesn't trick the jury into thinking he's radical truthteller - to the contrary, it comes across as transparently disingenuous. ▪︎. His closing argument was replete of instances where he stands on ceremony over meaningless details as if they are critical pieces of evidence demonstrating his client's innocence - for example, he says, "If you watch carefully, you see Mr. Brian pulls out from his driveway to the left, then backs up and straightens out his truck and pulls to the right, when the evidence actually shows Mr. Brian pulled straight out...." Wha...huh? So what? ▪︎ His "Awe shucks..." country lawyer shtick isn't fooling anyone. He's a terrible attorney, totally out classed by the polish, persuasiveness and organization of the prosecution. He was so bad, I actually felt sorry for defendant Brian.

She's trying to get access to these trial personalities, and that requires her to approach them a certain way. She is a beautiful woman that attracts the eye, but she keeps it classy and tasteful. She speaks with a slow pace, and a mature, low tone, rather than in a hysterical frenzy. And she shows empathy to WHOMEVER she speaks to in order to reduce the chances of them feeling slighted and summarily cutting her off. As Gough, himself, said here, other media people wouldn't be getting half the time from him that she got. Her role is NOT to be a mouthpiece for the self-righteous viewers who want to opine on this or that aspect of a trial. We already do more than enough of that for ourselves. Evaluate her for how well she extracts information from a guest--not for whether you believe she sends the right "message."
