This is an homage to the Glasper/Chris Dave band/experiment. Basically Glasper and Chris invented a whole new genre, but it borrows heavily from '70s fusion like Herbie's band and Weather Report, takes a lot from hip hop tracks of the mid '90s that J Dilla produced, and also the "houston style" that Chris and his generation at the houston arts high school (whose other grads include Eric, Kendrick and Jamire) invented. Kevin (here) has a church background, but they're aping Glasper/Chris mostly.
