My dad is in late stages of early onset dementia and he used to be such a huge fan of Kevin James, he even had some of his mannerisms. I always thought they were so much alike and now I miss how funny and goofy he was. Every time I see Kevin I think of my dad and our memories and it makes me smile.

For a long time I didn't care for Kevin's comedy. I considered it "lowest common denominator" stuff. That was until last year when lockdowns began. Everything was turning to chaos and to top it off my father had to have emergency heart surgery. I was the only one in my family able to be with my dad at the hospital, and I was a total wreck. While I sat in the room, mostly alone, King of Queens was on a marathon on tv. It was then that I realized that sometimes simple comedy is freeing. When you're afraid, just having something that resembles normalcy and happiness can make you feel grounded. So if this comment somehow reaches Kevin, thank you for getting me through one of the hardest times in my life. You have a fan for life now.

I have the opposite reaction. I think watching Sean's borderline uncomfortable. Neither attractive nor charismatic, it feels like a pack of kids who came up with a funny idea (watching celebs cry) and they drew straws to pick who's on camera and who's behind the camera. He talks... not quite robotic... but... I dunno.. kinda like he's just reading memorized cue cards. Like there's rarely much feeling behind it - aside from excited/nervous energy. On the flip side, the celebs being sweet to him - well, that's what they do. That's what they're paid for - making friends and shaking hands. They aren't eating Da Bomb because it's tasty, ya know. They're there for the views and to promote something. So of course they're going to come off as down-to-earth & friendly as possible. They're at work. And just like sucking up to Fallon or Kimmel while they're on camera, they're going to be gracious and flatter Sean, too. He's the host. In summary - I don't watch for Sean. I watch for the same reason people watch talk shows - to see the celebs. If you watch Fallon or Colbert or whatever, you watch for the celebs interacting (not reading lines). Sean does the opposite - reads lines (or reads them from memory). Just my opinion. I think they could swap hosts with someone more charming, EASILY. And I don't think anyone would remember Sean was ever there in about 3 months. But Sean's unprofessional, almost nervous behavior is part of what makes "the show" feel like it's a pack of kids doing something homemade on KZbin. So that captivates people - they wanna see a billion dollar celeb on someone's home videos goofing off & risking injury. Like when Brad Pitt did Jackass. For example, that Bear Grylls show where he takes celebs on outdoor survival adventures wouldn't be a flop if they weren't so highly overproduced. If it felt more like Bear (or even some amateur camper) grabbed a celeb and a cameraman and said, "let's see if we can make it across the desert," I think it would be viral. Instead, it feels like every other primetime network "stunt" show. Hiking with Kevin (Nealon) is a good example. While Kevin is a pro (funnier and more talented than Sean), the show still has that "take celebs out of their element" feel to it and borders (sometimes) on wearing them out. Like just one selfie camera and a trail, it is more interesting than that Bear Grylls farce. Or that immensely viral Mila Kunis interview where the interviewer - an unprofessional kid - just starts talking to her about his bros and his hangouts in England and invites her out for beer. The manufactured interview template falls apart and Mila embraces it and they BOTH turn out to be so charming and real for a moment.

I've loved Kevin James in everything he's been in. I've loved him since King of Queens and in all of his movies. To me he's an underappreciated gem of the Hollywood comedy scene and he will always be one of the funniest comedians I've ever seen. His standup special on Comedy Central made me cry he was so funny.
