I don't necessarily think there needed to be some breach of contract. I'm sure KJ wasn't happy with Prodigy (not many players are). And if he's willing to take a pay cut for a better overall opportunity, and Prodigy can free up one of their biggest contracts, it becomes a win/win with no real "drama"

I disagree. They’ve consistently been the best team at discovering young talent, they’re just not savvy enough to keep them. But legitimately a who’s who of disc golf greats have cycled through that team since their inception. They’ll just continue to find new players and ride them out until there’s a dispute.

I feel like their baskets are what is keeping them afloat. Every new course around here in the South uses T2 baskets...

There's a pretty long list of players who left Prodigy: Catrina Allen, Gannon Buhr, Paige Pierce, Lykke Lorentzen, Alden Harris and now, Kevin Jones. Houston, we have a problem.

How could a relationship be going well when the player you decided to pay ends up not being a top player anymore. I never see his name in contention anymore. If I was a owner I would do the same thing

Kevin Jones is still my favorite pro and always will be. Been playing for 19 years. Been a fan of the tour for 6. Wanna see my boy back on top. Hopefully a new bag and major life change(engagement) helps him find his jam. When he's winning... everyone feels it. Will never stop rooting for Kevin.

I love Willy Schu. I'll never forget the 1st time I saw him (and Feldberg) live at the 2011 KY st. Doubles @ Idlewild. That being said, I don't see myself ever throwing a Prodigy disc. When they came out in 2013 it felt kindof like the LIV exodus from the PGA a few years ago. Even our own Paul Ulibarri left Innova to join Prodigy. Obviously it's a much different situation but it still had that feeling of the players abandoning what got them there. It's a different atmosphere 11 years later with so many more established manufacturers and guys switching all the time but back then it kind of put a bad taste in my mouth. (Plus the disc names are boring and awful...)

Based on production and media contact I’m thinking a smaller/ less popular company like DGA or Mint. Thought Space and Infinite seems to fit his personality more.

As a Boomer who has played disc golf since I was knee high to a grasshopper [I was bangin' Frisbees off of trees as good ole Steady Ed was building the 1st professional courses] it's somewhat frustrating to see the inevitable commercialization and politics that have come with the rapid advance of the sport in the last few years. I mean, I get it. but as with anything there will always be differing opinions on how things should progress. What's important is how we all navigate through the growth while still enjoying such a great sport! I, for one, am not a fan of the DGN organization as far as the video quality and the non linear editing of their highlight content. JoMez was Way better! It sucks that they sold out!

Unlikely. He just got engaged. Once the baby comes family life comes first and DG sees a backseat.

its not that kj wasn't happy, it was prob prodigy not wanting to pay a lot anymore because kevin tanked bad, if you have a bad 12 months, they'll let you go. kevin is worth an incentive based contract, where any top 10 is a pay out match. any major win is a double payout match. pay kevin 65k salary with incentives

I think Prodigy was probably happy for him to go, they chose him over Chris, and he's only gotten worse since then. I doubt he was making them that much money.

Prodigy has some decent plastic and a few decent players. Luke and Cale has kept prodigy relevant so no one cares if KJ bails....he a player not a winner....kinda like Uli

Idk about that man. Use that potential capital to pick up a young player that has potential. There will be more Gannon Burhs and Anthony barellas coming into the sport in the coming years.

Everybody has their thing! Simon had Simon lines till he got injured. Now he breaks them out occasionally. Eagle has crazy distance shot both forehand and backhanded, till he tried to 360 a forehand. Now, we will never know if it will be the same. KJ USA has grenades and crazy hyzer flips. Also has music! It seems like the last few years, he has put more intentions and focus into his music. Not saying that is a bad thing. Just my thoughts, focus on one that pays your bills, and is sponsoring you. Again, this is from outside looking in. KJ is an awesome guy. Met him before LVC a few yrs ago and finished the round with him, and it was like a friend i have known forever.

He's estimating how much money companies have available for sponsoring players based off of how much money they're making overall. There isn't a formal cap at all, just what a given company can afford

Y’all post about Brodie’s “Paige comments” on the KJ story cut? Uh, ya know, she deserves any jabs he feels like making. Oh boo hoo Paige -?- naw, she 100% knew she was stirring drama while saying Brodie was too “dramatic”. I think it’s kind of funny. She was being snarky, bitchy, - sorry, whatever. I have never been Brodie’s biggest fan but y’all he hasn’t been going on and on about, and he could if he wants to. Now, to be fair, Brodie does talk a lot about how we need to be more serious as a sport, so y’all might have some point, but why on the Kevin Jones story cut?

prodigy's marketing is kinda trash. just listen to their ad about the new fractal line discs. it's calming and chaotic? who writes this oxymoronesque stuff? Glad he's leaving. Here's to hoping he goes to team Innova or MVP!
