It's ok to talk about sports and critique play or whatever the case may be but the discussions regarding the tour are always about the tour and play. @@playdiscgolf1546Her ratings are based off of playing the women’s tees, correct? So wouldn’t her rating be worse than playing the MPO tees? I honestly don’t know. @baronvonnembles
@baronvonnembles 24 күн бұрын
@@96stealth The rating is a gauge of ability. PP's rating is currently 965 so she is the same level of ability as a male player rated 965. It doesn't matter which tees they throw from. The reason there are "ladies' tees" is simply a recognition that women have less strength and stamina then men and thus need a less challenging course. It's the same as females playing 2 of 3 sets at Wimbledon while the men play 3 of 5.
@96stealth
@96stealth 24 күн бұрын
@@baronvonnembles That has to be flawed though. If the men are playing a 420’ par 3 and the women play the same hole at 310’. How do you get an accurate rating to compare the 2? You can’t. I guarantee that if women had to play the men’s tees, their ratings would drop substantially.
@96stealth
@96stealth 24 күн бұрын
@@baronvonnembles I just looked up how they figure the rating and I’m correct. It’s based on scratch scoring average (ssa). If a course sets that number at 50 strokes and a player shoots 50 then that’s a 1000 rated round. So just like I said. The women’s scores would suffer greatly if they had to play the men’s tees. There’s no way around that. You simply can’t compare their ratings because they are based on different layouts. The men still score better than the women playing a much harder layout. Like I forget which course and hole it was, but the women players were freaking out that 1 chick got a birdie which was the only birdie on that hole for the entire tournament. So it was a par 4 for the women and a par 3 for the men at the same distance. Meanwhile the men were getting pars (which would be a birdie for woman) at like a 90% rate.

@@goodnerarts1206it’s honestly sad to see women stand up for NR, she represents the degradation of their entire sport in numerous ways. How is it beneficial to women to have a legitimate male playing on their tour? Whats even worse is by accepting this idea we’ve now essentially reduced men and women down to testosterone and estrogen and that’s not even close to what it is to be male or female. After the 2022 OTB open we got a lecture on how the commentators are supposed to treat the players. So he went to something he can do. He didn’t come to Disc Golf because he loves the sport he did it as a money grab. Clearly look at who he started out using. He befriended Paul Mcbeth and the foundation guys after the acquired Supreme Flight. Then Paul Mcbeth realized what I already did was he’s a phonie. He stoped going on tour, didn’t win anything and after 2 years said he doesn’t enjoy the game anymore. Brody is good at one thing only and that’s running his mouth. I will say Brodie's personality is not for everyone. He seems a bit loud at times but he has opinions and doesn't sit on the fence on topics. Brodie believes in FPO fairness and has never once said a bad thing about Natalie Ryan or any other trans athlete. My biggest issue is the hate that topic brings. You now see it with Paige talking shit about Brodie because he doesn't agree with her on this issue. It's just sad that there are some who don't go about things like Brodie and just have an opinion with reasons for those opinions and that is all. There are those who just spew hate on both sides and it's disgusting. We don't build disc golf up with hate, we just don't. Paige wants to be an ambassador of disc golf but she has shown herself to be really shitty at that. To essentially tell people to unsubscribe to a channel that is doing great things for tons of MPO and FPO players is a horrible thing to do. What has she done in the last year to help these players? Brodie has always stood by allowing anyone to come on the podcast and talk to him about these issues if they want. He is giving a platform to both sides even though he has stated which side he is on. Players like Paige Pierce and Maria Oliva have shown their true colors when he offers them a platform. Brodie even stated on the podcast that he'd have no issue having Paul McBeth on the podcast except they'd have to talk about their issues if he did since that is what people would want. He is telling things how they are and not beating around the bush about things. Even though he isn't friends with McBeth anymore, he has still had unbiased opinion about him from what I have seen.

She says that their show is Dramatic, but what's more dramatic then literally avoiding 2 individual peoples texts messages, including someone that you call a good friend, just so that you don't have to go on a podcast that you don't like. She at least could have messaged back and just been like "hey, I'm sorry, but I'm not really a fan of your podcast and don't want to come one. Thanks for the offer though". But she acted like a child instead and went behind their backs. Lost a lot of respect for Paige after this

IMO - Brodie missed the point on several levels - but none are egregious. First, and I am certainly no Terry Miller fan, but I think their reaction to the comment was appropriate. I'm not saying 'defense' isn't necessarily deserved, but think through the cause & effect - any sort of 'defensive response' - even if he was genuinely feeling it - would merely have continued an uncomfortable and degrading conversation. It could only have made things worse. Terry changed the subject quickly - which is the only thing he can do to 'defend' Brodie here - because people are there to listen to what Paige has to say and that has a ton more strength than what Terry says there and continuing the conversation only gets worse for Brodie. Second - Drama/Gossip - Yeah, suck it up Brodie, the dictionary definition of "Drama" is a cute attempt, but you know what she's saying. "Are we still cool with Drew Gibson after his tweet?", "Drew says as much, if ont more stupid stuff than I do", "Do I tweet a lot of stuff that I think will get people riled up, yeah, 1000%"... you know damned well this stuff isn't "news". YES BRODIE - you are arguably the KING of drama, put your big boy pants on and OWN IT. In fact, I would suggest that your drama playing against Uli's moderation is maybe the biggest factor that makes your Podcast work. Its a good combination - but it's not everybody's proverbial 'cup of tea', and Paige indicated that thi is exactly the case for her. **SIDE NOTE (that isn't AT ALL on the side) - Paige did not say "Unsubscribe", she said "do not subscribe". I got the full impression that she was assuming an "I" at the beginning of that sentence, but still, in every way possible, that whole comment was in poor taste and I expect she knew that as soon as it came out of her mouth.** Third - Assuming there was "something that happened between May 6 and now" that prompted Paige's comments probably needs a bit more thinking. Paige congradulating you and your wife on May 6 means nothing more than that she's happy for you and your wife - regardless of anything else in the world - and you are reading too much into what that comment says about your relationship with Paige on that date, or about your relationship with Paige at all. The post deserved congradulations and she gave them... that's it. She didn't also say "and by the way, I think Brodie is the bee's knees today". She also didn't say "I hate Brodie" on Smashbox. She said she thinks there's too much drama and gossip on the podcast, and she doesn't subscribe. Its time to grow some skin and get over that feeling, because different people have different tastes and if you're gonna 'be public', you need to expect that not all feedback will feel like flowers tickling your nutsack. Two things I love about Paige Pierce: 1) She is very supportive, and is particularly supportive and defensive of the FPO field - and her leadership in this regard has been very powerful both for female players and for the sport as a whole. (This, BTW, is something I can say about Terry Miller as well). 2) She speaks her mind with very little filter. This second item got ahead of her a bit during that interview and I expect she has some regrets about the words she used. I don't think it means she hates Brodie or wants to start some feud. She indicated that she doesn't like or subsribe to the podcast and she answered when asked why, and again, I expect she has some remorse about how that went. As for her comment about "I don't think Brodie even watches FPO", probably some similar sentiment there, but let's face it - she's not wrong. That's ok, just own it. The FPO field is doing some really impressive stuff and from a "TV Value" perspective, most of the time it is at least as exciting (often more) than MPO. There's lots of reasons for that - some of which has to do with DGN just having too much distration in the MPO field to present a good product - but if you get to know those players and personalities, and watch some "Live Coverage" (Jomez is great to find out "what happened,in that round of the tournament" but Live coverage gives a much deeper perspective into "what's happening in Disc Golf" because they have a lot more time to fill. Watching the final round of Jomez coverage is like merely skimming the cliff notes before doing a book report. "I don't think Brodie even watches FPO"... Accept the premise and either own it, or make efforts to improve - but don't act like you "did the work" because you watched the last round of Jomez. Bottom line here - Dude,... Brodie... grow some thicker skin and stop assuming everybody "thinks something about you" because of relatively unrelated stuff. Learn to just change the subject and move past it. That is the negative type of drama and gossip some people might get irritated by. That is the difference between a podcast about disc golf and a podcast about Brodie Smith that occasionally talks about disc golf.

I like Brodie standing up for himself but dont like pulling out the dictionary bs, or the showing of some random trolls profile picture because of the comment. Most people understand what was implied by Paige about drama (the negative kind) and in my mind the few things mentioned above are those types of things. I haven’t watched enough of this podcast or Paige to really have a definitive opinion but will continue to watch as there are a lot of great topics that do indeed let us understand more about discgolf and the pros. If Brodie was really being honest he would have said that Paige being top 40 in MPO is completely delusional. We can see her historic score from the women's tees and even if she was allowed to throw from the women's tees and the men threw from the MPO tees she wouldn't score well enough to cash at any event. I really wish Paige would come on and hash it out with brodie and uli as a mediator. I feel Brodie would be fair and let her say her piece and would be honest blunt and counter her if she is wrong but be willing to concede when he is wrong. However, unfortunately I get the feeling that Paige is the type of closed minded person to refuse this and would rather avoid confrontation and risk being the one who is wrong and admitting she is wrong, then just doing so. I could be wrong because I do not know her in an personal fashion and I do not watch her content. Which probably says something about me. I personally don't agree with everything brodie says, and I do feel he gets overly passionate about things (I say as I will do the same thing without realizing it) but he is honest, open minded and he is willing to admit he is wrong if you can provide substantial evidence to support that claim. Paige also has every right to not want to be on their podcast. She has every right not to like someone for whatever reason she wants. I just don't feel making it public AND being incorrect in her justification is right. That becomes slander. Brodie says some harsh and unnecessary things sometimes but he has apologized after many times to those individuals if he has gone too far. Also the piece of gossip and speculation, first off what else do talk shows do???? After they spit facts and review the sides they then speculate about the future. That's literally how commentary works. Also I find it ironic she used that as reasoning but did just that about Brodie even though she said that's why she won't go on the show........

I think most, if not all of the comments about why she dislikes Brodie are accurate, but it's still not an excuse to attack without provocation. However, 4) Brody is not polished. @@FoundationPodcasts Asking me for advice about making a podcast is akin to a chef asking a patron how to fix a bad meal; I don't know - I just know that it doesn't taste right. That said, here's the opinion of an armchair quarterback: I listen to a lot of talk radio, so I'm thinking along those lines. The first thing I would do is play the clip with only a brief introduction. Secondly, I would break the clip down into segments (replaying each segment in order), make scripted comments about each segment, then ask Uli for his input, discuss, then move on to the next segment, rinse and repeat. By breaking the clip down into manageable segments, you and Uli can talk about the clip in a way that is concise, keeps the listener engaged AND makes it easy to remember. In short, this particular podcast feels like a couple of monologues, not a lively discussion. You are both very entertaining in other venues, so there's no reason why you can't be in this one - even if the subject matter is delicate. I wish you both all the best in your future podcasts!

Oh, he also referenced HH's big putt on 17th hold at this tourney last year. But yeah, he doesn't watch FPO. I also thought her being dismissive of the SS / Nick and Matt show was pretty lame. You guys are awesome. Never change. You work together so well. I appreciate your love for the game. It is obvious to all. I have never heard any hate from either of you!

Sad to see that about someone who loves the sport as much as Terry does. Trying to build his brand is hard but this was not good on his part.

Thanks for creating content for the fellas to cover. Nothing like saying save the drama meanwhile creating what you have so much disdain for.

Great pod on a tough topic. Maybe Paige has discovered a life outside round the clock disc, and thinking she has a sisterhood of players and the hate on Ryan destroys that. She seems beat down, and now she's hating on promoters of the sport. Suck it up or quit.
