Honest question: If playing an 18 hole round, at a tournament, with 3 water stations is dangerous.. how is it possible, for professionals, to train? Or anyone to play recreationally? I mean, your body doesn't know its a tournament. So.. you just don't play DG without refreshment station at every third or fourth hole? Seiously? I don't know.. I just carry 2x1.5 litre bottles, one filled with plain water, one spiced up with natrium. Sip from one at every tee and from another at every basket. Been lucky, no strokes so far.

I was at Worlds last week and it was a tough scene all week. I play MA40 (not well lol) and we only play 2 courses rotating every day. They got severe rain 3 days before the start and it caused major flooding everywhere. The course at Olpe was completely flooded and was unplayable thru Monday. The event starts on Tuesday. The staff were scrambling trying to find another course for us. They ended up making some temp holes and separating the long holes into 2 holes at Olpe. They completed these changes Monday afternoon (props to the staff) but gave us less than 12 hours to practice a course before a World Championship!. However I ask you this, If this had happened to the pro field, would they have been so patient? They announced through email around 1 PM Monday that these changes were in effect and we had only a few hours to practice there (with other divisions that had to play there too). There was a spot they were filling in with rock for a path and when I got there I had to ride in the bucket of the truck to get to the next hole. Now I am a father of 4, full time worker who took a weeks vacation, got a hotel room, etc, and I took it with stride. Also since this is a true am event there's no vouchers or "payouts" so the player pack is all we get. we got 2 discs, a shirt, some beef jerky and another snack, a wood mini and another plastic mini. Nothing special especially for a World Championship. They need to make a unique and special piece for us to have from this event. Instead they gave us crap from a shelf in the DD store with a new stamp. My final thought is for the host (DD). There was absolutely nothing to do the entire week after your rounds. Everyone was asking each other what they were doing later and all the players said "just hanging out at the hotel." There wasn't a World Championship vibe at all. It was in the upper *90's all week with heavy winds so outdoor stuff was a no go. We (ams) just felt left out again. You can only walk around Walmart so many times before that becomes boring too haha.
@bradlasseigne84366 ай бұрын
Obviously the pdga does what they want like a government figure but technically the course shouldn't have been used as per major rules course are supposed to be open a full 72 hours before tournament for practice. As for the payout we played ddo 2 years ago and was surprised that as an a tier, how there could be no payout and felt ripped off.

I wish Uli asked more questions about putting to Ohn. With both of them being so great at putting it would have been cool to have them compare notes and strategies. When compared to the rest of the FPO field Ohn's putt is so much better but she also is fearless and runs so many longer circle 2 putts which gives her a chance to get some strokes on the field. I liked when Uli said something like "If you aren't an Ohn Scoggins fan what are you even doing?" She is so easy to root for and so good for the sport. FPO is honestly as fun to watch as MPO in my opinion.

Brody brought up a great point. Very people know what disc golf is and it made me think, "why don't manufacturers advertise more outside of the disc golf community?". Based on talking to others my age (late 30's) who have picked up the sport, they should focus on people who used to golf, but it's too expensive and takes too much time for a round. Bring up that a round usually takes less than 2 hours, the low start-up cost (until you get addicted to buying plastic 😅), and the enjoyment of striving for that "perfect shot".
