My father is a neurosurgeon with over two decades of experience performing operations on the human brain and spine. When I showed him this fight, he immediately asked me to replay the part where Fedor gets dropped on his head. After looking closer at the footage, I was told by him that an impact like that could easily snap a man's neck - especially considering how heavy Fedor is. Conclusion: Fedor is either insanely lucky or inhumanly robust to not be phased by what Randleman did to him there.

Fedor was asked about this slam at the next Pride event,,,He said he tucked his chin like he was trained to do in Sambo/Judo. It wasn;t a big deal to him. He said he had been slammed like that many times in training and competition....

This still has to be the most brutal slam ever in MMA. Not just a career ender but a very real life ending suplex. Two legends.
@carson3811 Жыл бұрын
Fedor with his years of sambo experience and getting slammed thrown from a child.. saved him he relaxed didn't tenses up.. like in judo from 5yr old learning to break fall.. you throwing and getting bounced off the Matt 50 to 100 times each session.. 3 times aweek then getting thrown during randori from bigger stronger more experienced boys .. by the time your in your late teens 20s your body is so used to getting thrown you completely relax and I think .. Fedor being so relaxed during that throw saved him form serious injury.. if that was a boxer that Kevin suplexed they would have been carried out on a stretcher.. but Fedor stayed cool relaxed and simply got ontop and finished with a judo ude garami submission.. sambo practitioners are taking over now in the UFC guys like khabib now Islam both sambo practitioners and both UFC champions one current and one retired undefeated

fedor is one of the most ferocious, and deadliest but at the same time the most humble and kind man on earth.... I notice in the end of most of his fights, he never gives any extra... never throws a punch that isn't need.... and here for example, after twisting his arm and the fight is called, he continues to hold and support it and gently brings it back to randlemans side 18:43
@psychedelicgulag10 ай бұрын
Good eye. I don't think I ever fully appreciated that particular gesture or even thought about it much in this fight. Fedor is the best. You might like Mikey Musumeci as well. Same kind of humble yet skillful fighter.
@MightyJabroni10 ай бұрын
"he never gives any extra... never throws a punch that isn't need" Yeah, other than Ngannou, Dan Henderson or Masvidal (just to name a few). I hate it, when MMA fighters routinely deliver a few extra shots, even though their opponent is already as stiff as a board.

I went to UFC 92 and had the pleasure of meeting Kevin in a bar outside the MGM Grand Arena. I'm a newer MMA fan, but I can see why people say that Pride felt so much more special. The theatrics, the huge arena, the entrances, the ring instead of a cage, the actual NAME (not just a number) of the events! It's like the anti-UFC! LOL😂 Dana White said that he doesn't like all this stuff, but honestly if you don't have this stuff, then the pay-per-views just feel regular TBH. UFC events don't feel all that special. Yeah, some of this stuff feels a little WWE, but that's why it feels so grand. Pride knew how to really put on a show, man. It wasn't just the fight that you were entertained by, just like how the football isn't the only thing you're entertained by at the superbowl, it's also the performances which include a bunch of theatrics!! Dana White needs to understand this!!! This is why Pride was winning in the late 90s and early 2000s. Pride probably would've bought the UFC if they weren't discovered for being ran by corrupt people!
@Sprite_5254 жыл бұрын
Joel Soto - I agree! Maybe they’re making it boring because they want MMA to be taken more seriously like its scientific. In the States, it almost got banned. Now ESPN is partnered. Now MMA is its own martial art. It’s time to relax and put flavor back into MMA!
@kaerbear4 жыл бұрын
And it wasn't all trash talk! There was way more respect. I'm sure the Japanese wouldn't have encouraged what goes on with guys like Conor McGregor like Dana does. They wouldn't have put up with it. You can have hype and rivalry without being trashy and disrespectful. It's a shame that it was replaced by UFC because it was so cool.
