Very concerning that microsoft (and others) are aware that lines regarding free speech dont actually exist, yet they are forging ahead and even rationalizing their actions as necessary, seemingly without much thought to the idea that the nonexistant lines dont exist because they cannot. Cheers for the interview

Thanks, Lex! for the great podcast. You got Kevin to touch upon really interesting issues like ethical guidelines from the public policy side, how AI may strengthen social biases, technological solution to fake issues and even team building too. Personally, on issues of fakes and skepticism it would develop, loosing out on social capital can be a big problem. But as both of you pointed out, encouraging scientific temperament and technological solutions are the way forward.

Thank you so much for doing this interview and all of your podcasts Lex. Fascinating stuff! Really like the idea of crypto chain-of-custody for essentially verifying content provenance that Kevin Scott and you discuss (around 39 minutes in)

What were his three points regarding running a huge engineering organisation? 1. Have a long term view 2. Have a narrative and mission 3. ???

We'll have to wait for a sequel to learn the third point. 😁 I've just tweeted Kevin Scott. If he sees the tweet and gets a chance to reply to it, I'll share the answer.

Fun fact Bill Gates has been a huge fan of OpenAI work for sometime especially in the field of cooperative intelligence I believed it is called. Basically he was following OpenAI winning DOTA competition with the idea that characters were cooperating and in some cases sacrificing themselves to improve their teams position others was the use of surprise attacks. They where setting up others to cause them to fall into a trap. These techniques where baffling their competition to the point where champions where losing to the AI. Bill Gates said it was a milestone event in AI programming where the AI was developing strategies to win major gaming events. It was around this point that he came out and started to talk openly about OpenAI and their achievements. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3nMoayVn5dsjtk
